Friend died to a pufferfish jumping into his boat outside the nastiest mini swamp we’ve ever seen. The body retrieval mission quickly devolved into a prolonged disaster comedy involving multiple longships and a lot of swearing.
@@anthonyjordan6715 o man, i wish i had recorded me and my friends, (we're a party of 4) we made the new boat and traveled all the way down to the ashlands. oh my god... what waited for us there. We barely made landfall 🤣 protipp, don't park your ship next to a red glowing light. Next session will be a retrieval mission, we lost the all our gear and the boat. We were laughing the whole way through tho 😆
Finding content for this game that focused on NOT spoiling the later parts of it is so difficult, thank you for making it easy to learn about this game without actually ruining the explorative parts of it :) Also your vids are fun
Side tip.. if you have progressed to mead making, while reeling in a fish you can use a stam mead during the catch to replenish your stam bar so you don't lose the catch. Great video for sure, subbing now. :)
Really excellent guide that includes practically everything about fishing in its current state. There is only one tip that I could add from my own experience - when your stamina runs low during reeling, you can use a stamina potion from a hotkey. Useful when you go for the big/strong ones.
I'm a late starter and regret not playing Valheim sooner! Thank you for the well edited & very helpful video. There's so many "guide" vids that assume everyone knows everything & its painful lol
I return to Valheim not long ago and love fishing, but I got confused and found your old fishing guide, it was helpful but also still confusing as it was outdated. Thank you for updating the guide
Awesome guide, I wanted to go on a tetra hunt and after seeing this video I decided to duplicate my world and use a new character to do a flyby. Good news for those who are worried about having them, after checking 18 caves, I found 3 small tetra ponds and 2 frozen lakes so either I'm stupidly lucky with my seed or they are more common than we thought :) Worth noting that I have yet to stumble upon a lake like yours, mine were all tiny ponds in back rooms of the caves.
5:27 That "Don't worry, be happy" triggered a memory of my grandpa and his big mouth bass trophy singing fish. Lol. "Here's a little song I wrote... Don't worry, beeee happy" I would often get yelled at to leave the stupid fish alone by my grandma lol
I suppsoe it is worth mentioning that you gain fishing xp per second of reeling in the line. Double XP if you are reeling in a fish. So if you just want to level fishing itself it is probably fastest - if boring - to build a pier with roof and campfire for keeping up the rested buff, having a couple hundred basic fishbait from Haldor and just throwing out the line as far as possible, then reeling it in irregardless of wether or not you have a fish hooked. If there happen to be Tuna's and other T1 fish nearby, all the better i suppose to catch some fish randomly if you still need other bait or Fishwraps. Also, thanks for sharing all the info on fishing. I learned something from it and it was a short and easy to follow explanation :)
Ty! Glad you enjoyed :) I mostly use Premiere Pro, but I'll also occasionally use After Effects for particular effects (e.g. the blur at 0:13) that Premiere Pro can't do (or can't do as nicely!)
it's rare to find a production quality like this with a basically professional level of well-organized and designed information being displayed like this o_O kudos to you!
I enjoy watching Valheim videos, but most of them range from long challenge runs with a lot of memes and meta to funny moments. Any informative videos typically dive into a specific thing without discussing what leads to it, what benefits there are, etc. Anyone else would have just said what bait catches what fish and where those fish are, 1 minute and a graph with 9 minutes of them doing random crap. You're videos have quickly become my favorites for this game. Top quality stuff.
I started playing valheim about 3 weeks ago and I fell in love with it immediately. Can't even explain what it is because it's a sum of all its parts . I say all this because your content has been so helpful. Thank you so much!!!
I found your channel a couple weeks ago when I was looking for breeding info and I loved that video! Then I watched your fishing video a couple days ago and almost commented asking you to make an updated one 😅 thanks for the update!
I personally already know most of this stuff, but damn i keep coming back to the tutorials. The quality and effort you put into these videos is astonishing. I love your playful style of editing, but still keeping the video in-subject and informational. Can't wait for the next one. I really hope you blow up more on youtube!
I just entered a frost cave and there was a lake immediately to the right of the entrance. As was shown here, there were like 12 tetra just lying on the ground which were easy to just scoop up.
Love your channel, I have been away from the game for about a year and I was totally perplexed why I couldn't cook a fish I picked off the ground, I didn't even notice it wasn't "raw." I can't wait to explore the new content now!
I'm guessing most folks know, but in case someone doesn't- the fish aren't exactly talking to you- they're *singing* to you. Like Big Mouth Billy Bass that you can display for potentially years and then put back in the water and watch them swim away ( fridge horror moment there )- admittedly Take Me To The River does come off more like a plea than a gospel song when its a live fish singing it.
Ok I don't know if someone has said it already, but I super appreciate the zone spoiler warning at the beginning! I'm one of those players that don't wiki everything in survival games and like to be surprised as i'm exploring the world. Thank you for thinking of us new players :)
Fun fact: the talking trophy fish is a reference to the big mouth billy bass animatronic wall accessories that sing various lines when you press a button.
What a pleasant surprise, I was JUST thinking about looking for an updated video about fishing in Valheim and yours showed up! Couldn't think of a better presenter!
Thank you so much! I was reading the other comments and people talk about how great your content is and I agree with all of it. Thanks again for another wonderful video.
Thanks! I've been frustrated with what appeared to be an extinction of tuna. Turns out they are just very difficult to spot in deep water. The ones I thought I saw at a distance were darting around and went out of view immediately. Then I'd see a school of coral cod or puffer fish nearby and think I was mistaken. After hours of searching, I finally used 'find Fish3 50' and tried throwing my bait in the areas indicated. It worked. On an older playthrough from several patches ago, they were so easy to find.
Omg this is such good timing! Not only was I expecting a new video since your content is SOO GOOD, I am also doing the Fishing run w the new fish at this time. This will be particularly usefuL! :D TY Embr.
I managed to catch a puffy fish when it jumped out from waters of the Black Forest onto the shore. I have managed to collect quite a variety of fish by just waiting on the shore. I have found that it helps if there is a bit of a swell as it allows the fish to get a bit closer, and then stand on a rock outcropping to get a little further out, and where the water depth drops quickly. I am not sure if this helps or not but I go into sneak mode and wait -- I think the fish get scared and swim away if you are not sneaking.
I recently I started to play Valheim and it was impossible to do stuff in the game for the first time but your videos has helped me out a lot thank you so much for making the game more fun😊
Good video, just to add. The cave with water that i found was right next to the opening of the cave (take the first crossing right then at the next T go left and there was the small room/cave with water) and on the same level so not at the bottom.
Brilliant guide as always! I got extremely lucky in my mistlands update world, finding the fishing rod in a frost cave on my starting island, and the mountain was pretty small :o
This is one of the best Valheim guide videos I've ever seen. No bullshit, just straight forward information. The quality and editing is also on par. Very well done!
Love your vids! I’m happy that you’re starting to ramp up production a bit Your guides are the best I’ve seen both in terms of quality and information. Nice voice too
You’re probably already working on it but a video about the overall progression of the game would be super useful. Like bosses, materials, items, etc. Awesome video! Your production quality is through the roof.

Awesome video (as always)!
A note: patch 0.212.9 changed Tuna to only spawn in ocean biome and only take heavy bait ("since it is in ocean").

Seems worthwhile to make a portal close to the entrance and get an infinite source of easy fish.
