I have 2 CS590's. 1 made in Japan, one in Illinois. Both have modded mufflers, one a pipe mod and other muffler modded by Iowa Performance Saw's. I have the rim sprocket setup on it by Archer, the super seal air filter kit, I have a skid plate on it, the Stihl to Echo bar adapter from Red Beard Saws so I have Stihl bar and chain on it. Iowa Performance Saw's tuned it and it's a beast, they both are. Only mod I haven't added yet is the fly wheel kit that advances the timing 6 degrees, I'm also buying the solid high jet for the carb so 2 more mods to have full potential of everything I can get out it without porting it.
I got the echo cs-590 Its a good saw petty of power, the mods I did was put the metal handle on it and delete the exhaust defector so now the exhaust flows better ..
Also I didn’t do the port job myself a buddy did but as far as I was told the intake timing is a huge component and possible screw up for most people porting these saws and when done improperly they have a tendency to spit fuel (much more than stock) into the air filter
I have the 590 ported and muffler mod with the 27” bar that was stock until recently and just scored a used 620p in beautiful shape and I’m excited to see the true difference once the 620 has the same mods but even after running it stock the 620 definitely revs higher on a tach has slightly more torque and runs seemingly smoother than a stock 590 thanks for the video though you are right on point with the actual difference between the two but I will say if you are lucky enough to score a 620 used especially you can’t beat the value rather than trying to build the 590 just as you said in the video I bought the cs620p used for $200 usd I’m blown away with the quality and dollar for dollar what I got !
So if Echo calls them a full wrap. Does that mean Echo is wrong and you’re right. Or does that mean you’re simply declaring that bolt placement is the only definition or difference between full wrap and 3/4 wrap. Last time I purchased a “3/4” wrap from STIHL. They called it a full wrap in the parts description. I mean it’s been a long time since I was a STIHL tech For STIHL. So let’s get down to it. Does Husqvarna,STIHL,echo ext. do they actually offer a full wrap, fully functioning 360 degree grip (full wrap)? A chainsaw has 4 sides. How ever the (full wrap)Husqvarna only has 3 side grip functionality. So 3 out of the 4 side are being utilized with grip I think that equals 3/4. Now The (3/4 wrap )STIHL and or Echo. Utilizes 3 out of the 4 sides for grip. But with different mounting technology. Which still equals 3/4. I’m sure you can find the technical means and terms that this dumb redneck may not know. So I will still keep using the term full wrap.
You can buy a full wrap handle from Stihl that fits with just a little bit of adjustment where it screws on the bottom plus the handle is only about $30. Good video, thanks for the comparison
The only STIHL full wrap I found that is that cheap is after market. And when I was working at a STIHL dealer they was like $250+. But it’s good to know that you can modify one to make it fit.
@@littlemechanicshop eBay I think they’re $49, but there’s another one online for about $30 and both are for Stihl. I’d have to look to see if they’re authentic Stihl. I have screenshots but don’t know how to share on here
@@bikeracerdude I do know exactly what I'm talking about, a full wrap handle for the Stihl 046 and others work a Timberwolf with just a little tweak at the bottom.
The 590 is very good home owner saw and the 620 is a pro saw so it has some different components in it. Could you use the 590 for tree service absolutely. I love them both
The are the same saw minus. Coil carb. And cylinder has different port timing 620s have metal clutch cover. 590 is plastic And the 590 has spur drive sprocket. And the 620 has a rim drive
@@littlemechanicshop My March 2022 cs-620p has a metal clutch cover- I just double checked and can see a bit of bare metal under a small spot of scraped paint. Is it possible Echo used the plastic covers for some 620s if they ran out of metal covers? For instance, a local ShindEcho dealer has a few brand new cs590s that came in with red Shindaiwa barchain scabbards- because Echo was out of orange Echo scabbards in that length.
@@bikeracerdude it is very possible. Both the 590 and 620 I own have plastic covers. But there is some minor differences between the two. I believe echo has a few different clutch cover that will fit both. I think the year it was made also makes a difference.
Do you leave your saws out side in the sun when you don't use them ? Cause the plastics definitely look like that. Plus Tim man's video confirms that putting 620 Parts on the 590 doesn't make it the same it does Rev more but not the same as a 620 so definitely not the way to go
No I do not. But the do see lots of sun between late spring and late fall. Unfortunately this is the way they came. The 620 is 2 different colors. And the 590 is super lite. When the deal got them In I was not to happy about it and they took some $$ off the price. And yes it’s is way more cost effective just to buy the 620. But I got the 590 and the 620 at the same time. And I do not want my 590 to be the same as my 620. I just love full wrap.
I also believe if someone wants to waste there time and money on trying to convert the 590 in to the 620 then they can. I just don’t recommend it. And I have ran these two saws for about 6 years and I will keep them just the way they are.
Well I guess it all depends how much money you want to spend. I like them right out of the box. So maybe tune the carb and then make small changes after that.
Yes carb tune, delete exhaust defector that's on the exhaust guide to have better exhaust flow, and mybe drill inside the exhaust box for more flow as well..
I haven’t seen much a performance difference for the price gap, the 620 carb and coil on the 590 really makes no difference in the 590 performance. I put a metal handle and a 24” bar on my 590 and is my go to saw, because if the 590 takes a shit I’ll still have the Bullet proof 620
Your right there won’t be much change in the 590 with the 620 parts unless you want to port job and a muffler mod. Thats when the 620 parts will come in to play
CS590/620 differences:
Cylinder porting, 2-ring piston, timing, hp,metal handle, mag clutch cover, captivate 19mm bar nuts, outer bucking spike, rim sprocket, unlimited coil, roller chain catcher, larger carb, solid rns vs laminated bar, welded muffler lower support spacers, timing.
Yes you are right. People who try to make a 590 in to a 620 is wasting time and money. Just buy the 620 to start with.
I just picked up the 620! Nice saw, ran 1 tank threw it can’t wait to get it broke in!
I truly enjoy mine

A tree guys spare saw that he didn’t need
very fine saws great value too!
Yes there I do like them
Echo 👍🏻
Yep them are some good saws
Those are considered 3/4wrap handles. Full wrap both sides connect on bottom of the saw and don't curl around like that!
