It wasn’t too black, but that glop of sesame you lost 😳😲

No one really watches the entire videos. I promise I am your friend and am a good person to talk to. I love your channel and understand you. I am your friend and grew up working for a Chinese family and understand all of these meals and foods. I am not brainwashed into blaming Chinese people like the other weird people that voted for dump (trump). It's okay, no one is watching.

It is very nice that they preserved this place.... Like, literally... I did not even know that this existed as well...

I didn’t know about the reservoir until now! Well, I also left hk for about 30+ years. Thank you for showing us this historic site. I will definitely go check it out when I visit HK.

Thanks so much for your kind words Alan! Haha my geo tags - I’m glad you’ve notice as they do take one extra step but I’m keen to make sure people can find and enjoy the places themselves when they come visit =)

We still have an apartment in North Point and my cousins live there. We were supposed to visit in 2020, but the pandemic scuttled all those plans. I've been going to HK since I was a young boy and I frequented it alone in the 80s to buy vinyl records to bring back to Manila. I miss HK so much. My fave city next to Tokyo.

    • @hongkongfoodtours

Oh sounds like you know the city well too. Once hk opens back up, please revisit it again, everything is closing down unf…

@@hongkongfoodtours I had to learn it well. It was the first foreign place I visited alone when I was younger. it wasn't too hard as public transpo was so convenient. Been going to HK since I was 11 in 1979. My memories are so vivid and the smells I could really imagine right now as I type this. Thank you for your wonderful videos. I've been to some of the places you showed and it was so enlightening to know there are still so many old and new ones I have not visited. Keep up the good wok.
Ps - Sino Centre was the go-to in the late 80s as they had many of the best music stores there (no toys yet). That's the mall I frequented back then. I literally spent a whole day or two in 2-3 stores there just to go through their vinyl inventory. Memories....

No way i went to the place in Fook Yueng .... sorry Fuk* 30+ years ago when i went to school in Kowloon. Saint GEORGES ... think the owners are no the same but the sweet rice balls where amazing. Very sticky. Also loved the fish balls back in the day sold from little carts on the side of the road. with a thin but very potent curry broth. Loved the spices.

That’s so cool! You were definitely living on the Hong Kong that was much cooler than now! The dessert shop is still kicking and lines are out the door 🚪 and their sticky balls are still as sticky as ever =) thanks for sharing your story - it was so interesting to hear!

Great to see that Hong Kong’s history is being preserved. It looks like a place where you can have parties when the weather is a bit cooler..reminds me of Manchester where many of the factories were being renovated for party spaces and other purposes.
Definitely a place I gotta go to, the private dining places..just curious..is it traditional Cantonese cuisine or local HongKong cuisine? Or home style meals in Hong Kong?
You are always smiling…which makes me want to try what you are having..
Personally, I am a noodle lover..so a noodle tour is also what I am curious about..also…is there something you eat when it is extremely hot and humid? For example, in Korea, we call this Bok period or Bok Nal which means days of really hot weather..so we traditionally have hot chicken soup with an entire chicken stuffed with sticky rice..
Just getting more and more interested..
Love your content and trying to learn a few Cantonese expressions so when I go to Hong Kong..I can maybe communicate..even just a little..haha
    Be healthy and happy!!
I will spend another week looking forward to watching another episode of Humid with a chance of fish balls!!

Oh like an underground party? That would be so awesome though it’s owned by the government and I don’t think they’re that forward thinking yet (or ever!).
Private kitchens can be any cuisine. Some are even on people’s yacht’s and lots are French, or Italian (bc fancy). Some are at people’s homes, some industrial kitchens, or this particular one was at a restaurant.
Oh, noodles! What a great idea but actually I don’t think there’s a Cantonese cold noodle - actually let me go research and see if I can do a video - thanks for a great idea!!!
Hahah thanks for your very detailed message and I hope you’re healthy and happy as well!

@@hongkongfoodtours Your mission seems to include making people happy too.. that is why I became a subscriber. Many thanks! You have a knack of making things really interesting.
My intention regarding noodles were just unique noodles in HongKong or Cantonese style but that also seems interesting.
An additional question…has the world economic crisis effected Hong Kong much in regards to the price of food(restaurants or street food)?

    • @kwonster3957
      @kwonster3957 2 роки тому

I don’t think Chinese food has any cold dishes..please correct me if I am wrong..maybe because food that is fried is so popular?

Are they bouncier than the meatballs featured in the God Of Cookery? =D another amazing contents. Does Hong Kong have a State Fair that only happens once a year by any chance? in CA we have a California State Fair. It finally opened back up after 2 years of covid and last from July 15-30. Thank You
