Victoria Kastner, author of "Julia Morgan: An Intimate Biography of the Trailblazing Architect," reveals the inspiring story of Julia Morgan, the first renowned female architect in history. Born 150 years ago, Julia’s future seemed certain: marriage, then motherhood, then the genteel pursuits of a society matron. Instead, she courageously forged her own path building over 700 structures including William Randolph Hearst’s lavish San Simeon estate. It is an impressive legacy of strong, useful, and beautiful buildings that honor and delight everyone who enters them. Posthumously in 2014, Julia was the first woman to receive the American Institute of Architects’ prestigious Gold Medal.

I am so glad I looked up Julia Morgan on You Tube. It took me a few minutes to realize I had chosen a video about the exact book I am halfway through: Victoria Kastner's book about Julia Morgan, which is superb. The photography is stunning, and she brings Julia Morgan to us with interesting history NOT dry facts. Not one word in this beautiful book isn't well written. It is also a collector's dream book to hold onto. I will definitely look up more books written by Kastner. Thank you for having this video available to viewers. I would buy Kastner's book a thousand time over.
