Actually, the Battle of Antitem was the single bloodiest day in American history, both before and since. Total casualties, wounded, killed, or missing, was in excess of 22,000.
I love this video, love the history and to see America that you don't see in the movies or on TV, this kept me riveted the whole way through, can't wait for more!
Wow. Thank you so much. We do a fair amount of history pieces, although that isn't all we do. There is so much spread around the country that it would take several lifetimes to cover it all. Paul
Interesting to see the place I read a lot of historical fiction set around the time of the civil war as a kid and the name was definitely familiar. It certainly looks to be a thriving little community which is always nice. 😊
What a wonderful thing to read! I always hope we can bring a place to life for everyone. Which is surprisingly more difficult than one might imagine. All of the things happening just off camera make it, well, tough at times. The traffic, and gawkers, and lawn mowers or other such noise makers, and the weather, all combine to make events such a challenge to video.
Hello Paul. I have a question. Some months in the future I'm planning to visit the Northeast part of the USA East Coast and I was wondering if you could advise me a nice inexpensive Hotel or b&b to stay. The closest to Montreal.
Well, sadly I really am not sure. During our trip to New England, we camped the entire time in various campgrounds. When we are going to stay in a hotel however, if I have advance warning, I use Trivago or Travelocity to find the best deal. If I don't have advance warning, I typically stay at Hampton Inn, which ain't inexpensive. Sorry, but I just don't have good advice in this area. Traveling usually costs me a minor fortune!
Well warmest greetings from the US. We plan to get to more small towns as the time and weather permit. Always nice to hear from our friends in Australia!
Thanks Ettore. It seems like a nice town. I am always amazed at how busy the small towns are in the eastern US, as compared to the center of the country.
@@Realunitedstates it’s so many people say so many different towns, I’ve heard savanna Georgia, Charleston South Carolina, Aaron, Illinois, it depends on who u ask, but when u go by facts instead of opinion, NEW ORLEANS LOUISIANA HANDS DOWN IS NUMBER 1 period

I live in Shepherdstown & I've never seen a ghost lol
Well, I can't say that I have either, but it does make for a charming legend.
@@Realunitedstates It's not even really a legend, though. That it is the "most haunted town in America" wasn't a thing until that awful show.

Thanks Linda. Every small town has a story. Glad you enjoyed this episode! Paul
Hi Paul I live in Australia and travel many small towns so it is nice to learn about your beautiful towns.
Well warmest greetings from the US. We plan to get to more small towns as the time and weather permit. Always nice to hear from our friends in Australia!
Nice town! I like the houses there!
it looks a little bit like in Denmark. he he :-)
Thank you friends!
have a nice weekend! ;-)

Be careful, some ghost might follow you home:):):) Glad to learn from your visits.
I walk constantly in the company of my own personal entourage of ghosts and demons. I doubt very much I would notice a few new ones.
I have patrolled the streets of Shepherdstown at all hours. I lived there. Never saw any ghosts.
Me either actually.
Thanks
So Scarry like ghost town.. Hehe
Well, that is what they claim. Thanks! Paul
Okay.... I've understood that Savannah, Georgia is the most haunted town in America.
I think it is subjective depending on who one asks. I have done a statistical analysis to try and determine a winner. LOL!
