I know I'm in the minority on FRWL, but I just can't seem to make it through without falling asleep. Thankfully I always wake up just before the train fight.
7: Never Say Never Again - Very cheap feeling. Forgettable (maybe because it’s unofficial). Nice to see Sean Connery tho. 6: Diamonds are Forever - It’s campy, sleazy. Too complicated but it is rather enjoyable. 5: You Only Live Twice - It’s a bit bloated but it’s all good stuff. I have an affection for Japan. 4: Thunderball - Also a bit bloated but it’s really solid. I love the tropical setting, all the underwater stuff. 3: From Russia With Love - A great spy thriller with a pinch of murder on the orient express. This was back when bond was an actual spy series. 2: Dr. No - One of my favourites. There’s something very simple about this film that I like. 1: Goldfinger - Need I say more? It’s an absolute classic. Chock full of iconic scenes!

I started thinking, the scene where he introduces himself for the first time is still to me, the best version of any actor to ever say; "Bond... James Bond. I’ve only seen the first three but Goldfinger is WAY better than the first two in my opinion. I think the first two are good, but Goldfinger just knocks it out of the park. I do agree with you about FRWL, it does get boring, but the entire train sequence is incredible so it makes up for it.

Hi Bryan, back again for my favourite Bond actor of all time Sean Connery. My ratings for the Connery Movies are as follows ( I will also include Never Say Never Again): 7. You Only Live Twice (I am actually watching all the Bond movies before the new one as well so i have watched all the Connery ones again recently. This one has aged the worse for me as i have got older. Just boring, uninteresting and silly moments like Bond turning Japanese. The only selling point for me is the wonderful Donald Pleasance (Who was so under used in this film its a crime especially since he is supposed to be the master villain/head of Spectre). 6 Never Say Never Again- You know what even though its basically a remake of Thunderball i dont hate this movie at all, yeah there is some really stupid moments but i agree the guy that plays Largo (Klaus Maria Brandauer) is better then the original guy. I find the health clinic scenes more amusing in this one as well. Barbara Carrera who plays Fatima Blush (A Fiona Volpe spin off was also very entertaining and down right gorgeous). This is an unnecessary movie but i have more fun with it then You Only Live Twice (dont hate me lol!!!) 5 Dr No- Its funny Dr No is one of those movies that i generally only watch if i'm going to do a Connery marathon or the entire Bond marathon. Its a good movie but there are better ones in the series which take the vanilla coating in this and enhance on it. A bit like Donald Pleasance i feel Dr No (Joseph Wiseman) was under used. Still gotta love Connery doing his first My Name is Bond, James Bond moment and Ursula Andress (Honey Ryder) coming out of the ocean. 4- Thunderball- This is one prob out of all the Connery ones has grown on me as i got older/risen in my overall Bond rankings. Lot of great Bond moments, yes the underwater stuff does get a little repetitive but i was well shot i feel for the time. I agree that Fiona Volpe in here was amazing. Only Tom Jones could sing a song called Thunderball and make it work!!! 3- Diamonds Are Forever- This one is in this place more for nostalgia purposes, this was one of the first Bond movies i ever saw ( the big VHS clamshell). Yes this one is very campy and corny but i think Connery is having fun here, i enjoy Charles Grey as Blofeld and Mr Wint/Mr Kidd had a really fun element to it as well.Not to mention Shirley Bassey doing another song is just great. 2- From Russia With Love- I see this as the Bond movie through Hitchcock's eyes as i feel this has similar tones to North By North West. Its certainty more for spy thriller then an action flick. Robert Shaw as Red Grant is for sure one of the better henchmen. The train sequences have that Orient Express feel which i really like 1 Goldfinger ( A popular opinion/ this is actually my all time favourite Bond movie). I just love everything about it, sure some of it is outdated but i think you have one of the best Bond villains in Auric Goldfinger, you have this henchmen Oddjob, a few nice Bond girls, great action sequences and a memorable title song. This captures what Bond is all about i feel, i think because it was the first Bond i ever saw as well it holds even more special memories as well Well thats my list, look forward to seeing the Brosnan/Craig rankings and reviews. The actor that played Largo in Never Say Never Again is Claus Maria Brandaur, and Barbara Carrera was a good villainess. From Russia With Love and Goldfinger are the greatest Bond movies. From Russia With Love had a great storyline and plot, absolute classic. The fight seen in the train between Bond and Robert Shaw's villain, Red Grant, is the greatest fight scene in a Bond movie, and pretty violent. The film was also Sean Connery's favourite. Goldfinger is brilliant - the villains, storyline, the laser scene, Sean Connery at his best. The casino introductory scene in Dr No is great. This is my ranking: 7. Never Say Never Again 6. I just cannot get into FRWL I find it so dull. And while the train fight still looks pretty good today I really don't think that anyone can seriously claim it to be the best in the franchise. Certainly the best of its day but the train fight in Spectre is way better now, not to mention the end fight with 006 in Goldeneye or the staircase fight in Casino Royale.
Sean Connery and Roger Moore movies were too much of an obligatory Xmas viewing for them to actually be enjoyable as an adult and it's been too long, pretty sure Goldfinger is the best but you only live twice wins best theme. That being said Sean Connery is still a great bond, think Daniel Craig deserves his due now though
I did like that scene. I said as much in this video. But it's a 5 minute scene in an otherwise dull 2 hour movie. And yeah, I like Marvel movies. But I also love Kubrick, Hitchcock and espionage films such as Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, so that was a totally redundant and, quite frankly, pretentious comment. But if it makes you feel superior then all the best to ya!
I totally agree about From Russia With Love, i always start to drift off by the time they go to the Gypsy Camp, i generally find it a boring film. I do disagree about You Only Live Twice though, i last watched it a week ago, i saw nothing racist about it.
Nice video, very enjoyable to watch (except for your FRWL rating) I’m a 40+ year fan, I just did another rewatch of all the films (Last was in 2010). These are my rankings of the Moore Films 6. You only Live Twice - Hmmmm, I find this Connery’s worst, the plot was stupid, the scenes seemed hodge-podge together. Little Nellie was unbelievable back then and even worse now. And the volcano lair - sheesh, this movie has not aged well. And it was just there to appease the huge Japanese fan base. 5. Goldfinger - While it is a good movie it’s seems more dated than FRWL and Dr. No Connery, plus its pacing seems off, the first half if fine the second half is slow and it has tons of plot holes. 4. Diamonds are Forever - This filmed nailed 1970’s Vegas and is a bold attempt at something different. 3 Dr. No 2. Thunderball - I think this Connery’s best acted film and the groundbreaking underwater sequences are awesome. 1. From Russia With Love - Your killing me man, this is the best Connery film, great pacing, nice locales, a solid spy thriller, this is James Bond.
Please don't dump your White Guilt on us. I have no problem with Bond going undercover as a Japanese man. BTW, he isn't trying to pass as a full-blown Japanese, but rather as a half-caste, which he pulls off pretty well. you didn't like the Bond/Grant scene on the train in FRWL? The best scene in the whole Bond canon for me.
I did like that scene. I said as much in this video. But it's a 5 minute scene in an otherwise dull 2 hour movie. And yeah, I like Marvel movies. But I also love Kubrick, Hitchcock and espionage films such as Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, so that was a totally redundant and, quite frankly, pretentious comment. But if it makes you feel superior then all the best to ya!
I totally agree about From Russia With Love, i always start to drift off by the time they go to the Gypsy Camp, i generally find it a boring film.
I do disagree about You Only Live Twice though, i last watched it a week ago, i saw nothing racist about it.
It's not so much racist as it is stupid, the idea of trying to make us think that Connery could pass for a Japanese man.

6. You only Live Twice - Hmmmm, I find this Connery’s worst, the plot was stupid, the scenes seemed hodge-podge together. Little Nellie was unbelievable back then and even worse now. And the volcano lair - sheesh, this movie has not aged well. And it was just there to appease the huge Japanese fan base.
5. Goldfinger - While it is a good movie it’s seems more dated than FRWL and Dr. No Connery, plus its pacing seems off, the first half if fine the second half is slow and it has tons of plot holes.
4. Diamonds are Forever - This filmed nailed 1970’s Vegas and is a bold attempt at something different.

2. Thunderball - I think this Connery’s best acted film and the groundbreaking underwater sequences are awesome.
1. From Russia With Love - Your killing me man, this is the best Connery film, great pacing, nice locales, a solid spy thriller, this is James Bond.
Completely disagree with this, Goldfinger is levels above DAF.

Please don't dump your White Guilt on us. I have no problem with Bond going undercover as a Japanese man. BTW, he isn't trying to pass as a full-blown Japanese, but rather as a half-caste, which he pulls off pretty well. It's absurd to think that this movie is ''racist'' just because Bond is disguised as a Japanese

From Russia With Love is such a boring and uninspired film. I'm so glad somebody else sees it. When I originally watched it, I felt like I was crazy.
