Yes , you can use Joiner as well but keep in mind that Joiner has got all sorts of join types Inner join Master outer Detail outer Full outer However Lookup is only having left outer join which means if you cannot find the match , it will return null values which may be problematic if you have requirement to get only matched row, hope you got some ideas Also lookup is used in the middle of mapping whereas joiner is used normally from starting of mapping as source , also lookup can be performed on target table as well.

I've seen your videos where you explained in the agile process testers are expected to do multi-tasking but what exactly are the roles and responsibilities of testing team members to handle? will there be an ETL developer to design these mappings? or do they expect testers to take part in this stage?
Agile team is a mix of developer and tester both so tester will be responsible for testing activities in real time project however the expectation is that you also know a bit of development so in case need you can support in ideal case

Having knowledge on any ETL tool gives you edge over development as well and your value increases significantly in the team and given we work in agile and cross functional is very nature of agile team so I would recommend you to learn any ETL tool not necessarily Informatica but since Informatica is widely used across industry so better to learn Informatica, having good knowledge of ETL TESTING with Linux and Database would be ok for you to get the job
