I'm just reminiscing about my time in Estonia, and I miss it. I recently showed the film "The Singing Revolution" to someone, and it moved them nearly to tears - someone who generally isn't given to interest in history or documentaries. Memory is in these voices. I spent two months in Estonia and fell in love with it. I spent time in Narva, Tartu and Tallinn. I miss it very much. I fully intend to be at the next Laulupidu. God bless you all from Virginia, USA.
An incredible song with a powerful meaning for the people of Estonia and the cause of freedom. I have used the DVD "Singing Revolution" in my high school classes and students are enamored by this song and the incredible courage it must have had to sing during the Soviet era. Thank you for placing this recording on to help remind me what hope, courage and love of country can sound like.
I would for once like to watch these videos without crying. i am watching this in a public library and people are thinking something is wrong with me:)
jep, all estonian main choral music gurus must be in choral music woodstock called Laulupidu. grammy winner paavo järvi, his father neeme järvi, grammy nominee tõnu kaljuste, eri klas, olari elts etc.etc.
No, it's a beautiful song but Estonia's national anthem is pretty set. :) The song that's considered Estonia's "unofficial" second national anthem is "Mu Isamaa on Minu Arm", which is also an absolutely gorgeous song if you feel like checking it out!

This song is so beautiful! Just curious has this song ever been considered for being Estonia's national anthem?
