I think the reason why there are probably so many yes-women and yes-men is that working in the game industry is shit right now. When you see all your past colleagues getting laid off or their studios being shuttered you don’t want to risk being alienated and possibly fired for going against the grain. People have families and mortgages and while standing up to something is great in theory, in practice it seems risky to put everything on the line for adding some jokes. It’s sad but true.
Asmongold has pointed out (and I think correctly) DEI is being used to cover up bad game design and fund bad games and it’s actually hurting the movement for diversity by letting people equate bad quality with diversity. Diversity can be a great thing. Diversity of thought, background, religion, and experience can bring new and fresh ideas to projects and improve quality. The way DEI is being used currently isn’t about that. Diversity except those people. Inclusion, except those people. Equity, in most cases, is horrific. Equity and equality aren’t interchangeable words although some would like you to believe they are. Knocking someone down to allow someone else to rise isn’t a solution, it just builds resentment and hate.
DEI is just a way to be racist, nothing more nothing less, soon as anyone black is put in a game its labelled as DEI. equating any content with minorities in it or gender, (why race and sexually preference are bundled in the same category i dont know) then POC will be excluded from games, because of the negative stigma attached to those games. What exactly is DEI about a larger black woman in a game, or a black samurai (or not as thosands of american and UK experts in japanese history keep telling me) yu even have people pretending to be japanese on twitter just to discredit yasukes lore.....lets call it what it is, hitler would be proud of this strategy.

I think they're just gonna throw it out instead of delaying it and spending more money trying to fix a game that won't succeed. Even if it does a 180, the narrative is that this game is a failure, and that's usually a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's also way less likely, but they could scrap it and take the tax write-off, then use the studio as a support studio. I think this option is healthier for the studio because I could see them getting shut down if/when this game gets released and flops.

Concord has solid gameplay with no crashing, no T-posing- no dropped frame to unplayable state, no falling through map. It’s a game that works at launch oh sorry beta even. More than can be said about a lot of recent 3rd party and MS games, But Concord also brings absolutely nothing new to FPS in a very crowded genre. Plus cringy characters. So just feel this game won’t make a mark. Even though it does work as advertised.
I dont even feel bad for the devs. Not teying to ge mean.. its common knowledge that "Arena Hero Shooters Live Service" games are viscerally disliked and almost hated by the Gaming Community as a whole. I've played Concord beta all weekend, and I got to level 12. Absolutely loved it!!! Every game took me 30 seconds to get in (Game isn't out btw, so it hasn't failed just yet).

Destin is so on the money when it comes to the FTC. I thought it before it was said too that they fumbled and their case was weak because they focused too much on how MS would hurt PlayStation. They should have focused entirely on how it affects consumers in a negative way. But they did have right about the price increase.
Destiny 2 has ZERO sex appeal but the character models and armor give you unlimited appearance customization and I would be embarrassed if I was a character artist and this is what I came up with. It reminds me of characters from a kids cartoon (like really little kids cartoon) i.e. side characters in Dora the Explorer

I can't stand DEI, but the other problem like you said is bad writing. When you have terrible writers, you are destined for a bad game. And secondly, when you have bad writers who ALSO are doing everything they can to not offend people, then you get knocked EVEN further down. Even good writers who are trying to not offend people(especially when people on Twitter are offended by EVERYTHING) they get hamstrung and may end up writing a terrible narrative. If you have an action shooter and you want to make sure there's no "Toxic Masculinity", you are destined for a very bad time. Watching this whole Concord situation i wonder if it should have gone with the Apex Legends Strategy. Just shadow drop it on a conference free for everyone to play and if the gameplay is good it should gather a robust playerbase, everything else wrong with the game matters less if the gameplay is good, and the playerbase is solid. Putting barriers, like $40 pricetag, preorder betas, ps plus, etc.. on a new pvp multiplayer, GAAS videogame it's just plain stupid in 2024. Sony dropped the ball here and it's the devs on the studio that are going to pay the price. It's just sad.

I can't stand DEI, but the other problem like you said is bad writing. When you have terrible writers, you are destined for a bad game.
And secondly, when you have bad writers who ALSO are doing everything they can to not offend people, then you get knocked EVEN further down. Even good writers who are trying to not offend people(especially when people on Twitter are offended by EVERYTHING) they get hamstrung and may end up writing a terrible narrative.
If you have an action shooter and you want to make sure there's no "Toxic Masculinity", you are destined for a very bad time. Honestly I wish nobody who even unironically uses the phrase toxic masculinity, to make any game I play. Men play games, and we like badass characters, doing badass things. And a lot of people on one side think that's "toxic masculinity".
Watching this whole Concord situation i wonder if it should have gone with the Apex Legends Strategy. Just shadow drop it on a conference free for everyone to play and if the gameplay is good it should gather a robust playerbase, everything else wrong with the game matters less if the gameplay is good, and the playerbase is solid. Putting barriers, like $40 pricetag, preorder betas, ps plus, etc.. on a new pvp multiplayer, GAAS videogame it's just plain stupid in 2024. Sony dropped the ball here and it's the devs on the studio that are going to pay the price. It's just sad.

Sony continues to have the opposite of the Midas touch when it comes to PvP shooters. Concord is just another brown note in the poop symphony they insist on performing.
I don't know why they can churn out banger single player/co-op games but just cannot get it together in the PvP space.
Whoever at Sony thought buying unproven studios for live service games was a smart idea needs to be fired.

Saw concord for the first time during that big cinematic. I thought it looked good. A good looking RPG adventure game.
Then I saw the gameplay reveal. Was so surprised it was an arena shooter

I have enjoyed playing the beta but you do need more to draw you in with story line.. visually I like it a lot game play is quiet good too. But I agree that it needs to be put into PlayStation plus service try draw people in that way.. none of the characters that fornite launched with I got into at all.. but adding all those skins in over time… hopefully becomes another Fortnite level…
Fortnite was lightning in a bottle for epic. They got lucky with the br hype concord will not have the same luck.
@@fredinmon44 when they first released Fortnite was charging to buy game barely any interest but when they come up with the battle Royale for Fortnite and made it free to play and introduce lots of skins and tweak it every season then it became lightning in a bottle then that bottle exploded 100 million people later that game is on fire. I get bored with it but I do like it.. but it’s the skins I really like in it and a good game to chill out on if you don’t play the build mode lol 😂

Huh, only a couple weeks ago you were saying the negativity towards concord seemed the same as helldivers 2 first showing. Guess helldivers 2 was the outlier and concord is the rule.
No. People were praising Helldivers because it didnt have real world politics in it. It saw massive support because of it. Same story and outcome here, but Concord is embarrassing it. Its not hard to see.

concord was never going to succeed when you got overwatch, for free on the same platforms that concord is on. It might of done a little better if it was on the switch and xbox too.
