I'm so glad to see Raptor Red. I read this back in 2009 or 10. Clicked this video just to see if this would be here. Thanks!

P.S. Jurassic Park was my first real novel. Summer between grade 7 and 8. That's when I discovered what reading could be.

Love this list and definitely adding some to my TBR. Read Raptor Red years ago and loved it.

Raptor Red is so amazing. The first time someone told me the premise, even as a dinosaur lover, I was dismissive. Boy was I wrong! The Dinosaur Hunter is an amazing book as well.

@@iWizard Yeah Raptor Red can be a hard sell but worth it. I'll have to read The Dinosaur Hunter. On the non-fiction side of dinosaur books one of most interesting ones I've read is "Rex Appeal: The Amazing Story of Sue, the Dinosaur That Changed Science, the Law, and My Life" by Peter Lawson. Not only an engaging book on paleontogy and dinosaurs, but mainly focuses on the crazy criminal case surrounding T rex Sue. It examines who should legally/ethically have access/ownership to fossils.

Great list Jordan but I’m DEEPLY disappointed not to see any T Rex smut novels recommended here. Now that’s really the perfect combination of both kinds of fantasy novel…😂😂😂

Yes, “Dinotopia”! Such a Modern Classic, not nearly getting enough love & praise that it deserves! James Gurney is such a Master!

I totally agree. Such an enchanted, magical world that Gurney created. Truly a masterwork!

Now this is some good video to find. Kinda bad for me that I've red most of them, but ques that's the cost of being dino freak. But I would like to add some of my favourites althought they might be a little difficult to get into but still. There used to be a sci-fi British TV series named Primeval that had a really cool concept of randomly generating time portals known as Anomalies and group of scientists that had to deal with dinosaurs that came to our time and keep it all secret. The series had a 4 novels that are their own separate stories but it's better to watch the series to better understand characters and setting. But still. Novels The Lost Island and Extinction Event are just the best Dinosaur books that I've red excluding original Jurassic novels. Both incredibly greatly written and fast reading and don't make me start to Dinosaur variety because you will be spoiled to choose. But to shade it at least a little. The Lost Island revolves around teams mission on one very politically fragile island that is being covered by mysterious thunderstorm and big bunch of anomalies. Book is mostly like survival thriller and works really good. The second is Extinction Event and oh boy oh boy. Basic point of the book is that after badly covered up anomaly incident when one creature was running loose trough the streets of London, mysterious Russian Army fraction kidnaps main trio of characters and drag them to Siberia where they explain that they need... help. Because there is full blown cretaceous infestation happening and they don't know what is causing it.

Thanks so much for watching. I looked up those two books you recommended and I couldn't find them. Who are the authors of The Lost Island and Extinction event? I'd love to check them out. Cheers! :)

@ yeah my bad. I forgot to write whole names of the books. Both are written with Primeval: before them. So the books are Primeval: The Lost Island by Paul Kearney and the second is Primeval: Extinction Event written by Dan Abnett (more famous of them two. He wrote real bunch of books for Warhammer 40K. But you shall find them just with Ease if you type Primeval Novels to google.
But I’ll warn that for context its better to watch first two series of Primeval it self, since book are written like their own stories but some characters that will show have some deeper lore behind them or some characters don’t appear again in another book for reasons shown in actual series. Last thing. The Lost island comes first and Extinction Event as second in order but there is really nothing wrong if you’ll read Extinction Event first because I think its the best of all four novels that were written. Thanx for checking them out.

West of Eden by Harry Harrison. Dinosaurs lived and have a society based on bio engineering who eventually discover primitive humans. Read it probably 30 years ago so details sketchy.

Cool! I've heard of this title, but I didn't know what it was about. I'm going to put that on my TBR. :)

I tried the jurassic park audiobooks recently. It was ok but the Lost World was just silly, I dnf. The first movie is still incredible, it definitely holds up.

I love the original novel, but, yes, the sequel is silly 2.5/5 stars for me. (I really think it must have been a money grab for Crichton.)

@iWizard you can tell he had no plans to write a sequel. I bet he wouldn't have killed off Hamond at the end for one. Then there is the whole invention of a second island. I bet they sent a dump truck of cash to his house to write a sequel after the success of the movie. 😆

Sorry but the intro reel is over 30 seconds long. That's self-indulgent. Nobody cares,
