What a story indeed! And how very kind of you to make sure things got back to his family! Not many folks these days have that honor, or integrity. You have restored dignity to the family by returning these things in many older cultures.a fine thing. Bless you.
Wowzer! Incredible finds! Great work Freddie. Matt, you truly are that lads hero, teaching him to be honest, honourable and respectful… with the occasional sprinkle of cheekiness and a big dollop of fun… one great dad ❤ When you act with such integrity and consideration, karma will continue to reward you. Charles will be thankful from beyond the grave… just watch what amazing things are coming your way 😊
Love, Love, Love This! I've been begging You & Andy to go Metal Detecting again & pop a video of it out now & then. Maybe once Andy is feeling better you can get him out somewhere as I bet it will be something he will enjoy & get him active. Yes please do more Exploring of Any Kind with Freddie! I feel metal detecting is exploring. Awe it feels like Ole' Times! ♥
Andy is no longer part of the channel … he’s still my friend but the cancer wasn’t the reason he left … that was to do with his dickhead of a wife (soon to be ex wife) glad you enjoyed it tho definitely will be doing more
One of my very favorite shows is the Detectorists! It was great watching this video and seeing Freddie for the first time for me since I am watching your channel from 3yrs ago forwards so late to the party has a whole new meaning LOL Loving the channel so thanks a heap for adding different ones in! Learning about history would be so EASY for anyone if they did this or at least watched!
What we wonderful way to spend a day son. I enjoyed seeing history come life from the mud. Thanks for sharing. Safe travels. Best wishes to Andy. Prays Andy’s hanging in there. Best wishes.
Hi there Andy. I am thinking of you. I know that what you are dealing with is really difficult and hard to cope with. All you can do is fight on. Know that we all love you❤. I am still here after a brain tumour and three others in my forehead. It was hell but I just believed in myself . I am a tad daft now but I am still here having fun.Sending you my love and light.❤❤❤

Cool find with that penny!! I once found a large penny similar to yours at the old apartment I lived in and the retaining wall was falling apart in some areas and that's where I found my 1903 Canadian penny. Someone once told me that brick layers used to put the current year's penny somewhere in the buildings and walls that they were laying. I don't really know the validity of this but that's what I heard at least!🥰❤️❤️🐶❤️🐾🐾 I wish that I lived in a country with such cool history going far back like the UK and Europe!!! Sadly North America's is lacking by comparison!

A drover would choose to hang a single bell around one of his sheep or cattle. Why? Drovers marched herds the length and breadth of Britain but, like anyone, the drover had to sleep - usually under cover in a field with his flock. These fields were called ‘halfpenny fields’, referring to the charge made to stop over in the field with a herd. During the night the bell(s) would tinkle gently as the flock slept or grazed but if danger loomed and spooked the herd, the drover would know instantly.
@@FINDERSBEEPERSthanks Matt, I thought horse harness because my Grandad worked horses on the South Downs in Sussex, he had a plough pair and although they were long gone by the time I was a child, he had kept some of the “ horse brasses” and metal decorations that were all part and parcel of their harness and there were bells attached that obviously jingled while the horses moved along. 👍🥰
@@bobthebinbag5949 I actually think they used to use them on the roads before cars when horses were pulling carts… but the primary use with a sheep and cattle
We have an antique store down the road, that has old travel chests. The curved buckle looks like the straps they have on the old chests! The upper straight part is attached to th trunk, and the curved part is sticking out to thread the strap through it. What a find! Looks exactly like it! I don’t think it was originally bent up that far. The ones on the old chest here, is slightly bent just enough to thread the strap thru. Hmmm…hey Fred’s! Looking good. Smart young man you are! Good job Dad! Thinking of you Andy!😫hugs to all! 🥰🥰
Hey Freddie! Tell your dad he needs to bring you to Canada on vacation next summer! It actually gets pretty hot here in the summer months. You can visit all the geese. Just don't get too close. They're mean haha 😁
@@FINDERSBEEPERS well now I guess our Canada geese here in Canada are traitors. We only get em for a few months then they leave. 🤣 but then again….I would leave for months at a time too if I could. Lucky buggers. Hehe
Hi Matt and Freddie. Freddie just to let you know that the Canada Geese migrate to the southern USA for the winter. You will see many in Florida and Louisiana etc. The majority do this but as in everything there are exceptions to the rule and there are always some geese that do as they see fit!!😂 Just a brief fyi. Take care guys and be good!(if you can, if not just have fun!!!) 🥰❤️❤️🐶❤️
Matt , your buckle, looks to be a book clasp , to hold a big old book shut , could possibly be medieval. Your clip , looks to be part of an art deco , womans dress clip 👍
@@FINDERSBEEPERS when you see the Canada geese in a field you are supposed to go on the website to record when, were & how many, as the RSPB like to track record them
I loved this explore! I just love you and Freddie doing things together. Freddie adds a good addition to your video! Fun fun.
Great finds! Love, Betty

Freddy is adorable Matt what a good little boy❤
I think the bell may have been on a plough horses harness, great video, love Freddie he’s such a lovely little boy, much ♥️ Granny Linda x

Hi Matt and Freddie love you both together have fun nice seeing you both love Patricia curry Danville VA ❤
Really enjoyed this x
Loved it keep it up keep it real Mike 🇨🇦
that buckle type thing looks like a book lock where you would put a strap through it to close the book but i could be wrong tho
Nice finds.❤
Matt if you get a round point shovel it makes digging easier.

Look at you, grabbing buttons with bare hands 😂😂😂😂😂 I am proud of you!!!
The lead button is 100% a dress hem weight sewn into the hems to prevent the wind from lifting them, Georgian or Victorian
Loved this video!
If them geese went to Africa there would be none left.
Another epic video thank you x
A pointed shovel would be easier than a flat edged shovel maybe 🤔
Hey Freddie! Tell your dad he needs to bring you to Canada on vacation next summer! It actually gets pretty hot here in the summer months. You can visit all the geese. Just don't get too close. They're mean haha 😁
We did some research… the Canada geese in the uk stay in the uk for 12 months 😂😂

It looked like an old bottle opener that was attached to the bar in a pub
Hay cart? Wagon? Very interesting Matt.
Hello cutie pie Freddie
Wow, got here before the live chat! 😮

They don’t from the UK… Canada East based in the UK stay all year round … however Canada geese in Canada migrate to America! I looked it up afterwards
I used to own a haberdashery business n sold the lead weights for curtains etc….they didn’t have the holes in…
This was a nice video, with ..."beepers finding" things and a younger generation.
Looks like a bottle opener. It would be mounted on the wall and you’d put the glass bottle in it to pop the top off. ?
Matt , your buckle, looks to be a book clasp , to hold a big old book shut , could possibly be medieval.
Your clip , looks to be part of an art deco , womans dress clip 👍
good to see you bought Freddy a proper Footy kit good man Freddy
that little buckle could be a bridle piece??
Maybe
Take a spray bottle with water in to wash off your finds
Birds fly South of the world for warmer weather, Freddie was correct
He’s correct in most parts of the world, but in the UK, Canada geese stay in the UK all year round

Could that thing be off a horse thing lol sorry I'm not horsey
I'm actually early this time❤❤❤😂
Might be something Roman
