This is my report from a trip on the JR Hamakaze train. Only one of these a day goes from Tottori down to Osaka. And it's not the quickest route there - other services get you there faster and leave several times a day. So why exactly does this mysterious limited express service still exist? That's what I wanted to find out! So I got a reserved seat one day on the Hamakaze and we set out, along the Sea of Japan, down through lush Hyōgo Prefecture on the obscure, winding Bantan Line, to Himeji. There, I got a welcome surprise about the view out my window for the final hour, when the train goes along the Seto Inland Sea to Osaka.
A great day seeing the misty mountains and gorgeous green river valleys of central Honshū in the best way: on a reliable little Japanese train!

Had a chuckle when there were no means to dry the hands. Thanks for not using the curtains. LOL
I mean, the curtains are right there.........!
Traveling in Japan by train is really fun. Enjoy it 🍒🍒🍒Travel by Train
Nice video!
On my first trip to Japan one of my friends gave me towel to put in my backpack .I found some cute towels on some of my trips with tourist spots on and always have one with me plus small bar soap get from hotel stays have come in handy many trips .
I had lunch at Tottori station the other day in a tiny non-touristy soba noodle place where you buy a ticket from the machine out front of what you want. And even THEY were selling their own little towels with the logo inside! Two for ¥600. I didn't get them, but you're right, towel collectibles are quite a thing here
Love these train travels and the lesser taken routes. All great ideas for my next trip there. 10/10.
I'll take this train soon but getting on at Kinosaki :)
Also, many Japanese carry their own small towel with them to dry their hands
I usually do too, but leave it in my bag at my seat :/
Interesting how the bananas are individually packaged especially when you consider that nature individually packaged them anyway.
Japan loves its packaging - almost as much as the products themselves :/
I love the music and scenery I have never filmed my trips to Japan not the best with cameras what kind of camera do you use does someone film it or you ?
It's all me -- I think this video was done with an iPhone on a selfie stick. More recent videos have been with a DJI Pocket 2

Japan is so clean and efficient. Amazing. Enjoy. 😊
Those misty vistas!
NHK should contract you for content! 😊
I'll await their phone call
The haunting Japanese music has alotta similarities to Indian music.
Huh interesting
I'm fascinated by how distinctly different the landscape looks, at least to my (west coast of Canada) eyes. Curious haystack mountains and seastacks---beautiful. Thanks for sharing your trip!
You're welcome!
Jeremy, when are you going back to the United States?
Not sure, hopefully in 2024
