I never really like Ron in the books or movies growing up. He just never struck me as somebody I would like in real life. But I adore Ron the way Joey depicts him. He's still JK Rowling's Ron, but he's also a better person with a better heart and a more animated and memorable personality.
(This is my opinion) Ron is an amazing friend and if you want all the details I will give them to you and the movies decided to show him as just comic relief and a terrible friend. I love how Joey plays him and especially in this musical, it shows how great Ron is. So many people dislike him and it infuriates me. They only look at the bad parts of him like when he was jealous of Harry during the fourth book even tho the real reasons for it was that he felt betrayed that Harry may not have been as loyal to Ron as he was to Harry.
Ironically I love Ron in the books and Joey's Ron is the only one that fits my impression of book Ron -except he isn't an ass to Hermione and Ginny as a running gag. The movies and other forms of media portray him like a wimpy pathetic loser with an unanimated personality. I personally can't imagine how this Ron has a more animated and memorable personality because this is just exactly how he is in the books to me. Also everyone's pretty much a jerk in this musical because it's a comedy, so I don't see how this Ron is more good-hearted with the constant Hermione and Ginny jokes.
"My wand can barely work and my car won't start," - my favourite line. oh, wait. then there's "I was a stupid dufus but now that's gone," oh but then there's "AM I THE ONE WHO TAKES YOU HOME? -DEFINITELY NOT" Ron is the cutest.
I know all of the characters and plots and stuff are so twisted and exaggerated in these musicals, but I feel like this song encompasses Ron Weasley so much. :')

Why did Starkid capture the character of Ron better than the movies! Don't get me wrong, I adore the movies, but they really overlooked Ron as a character and more so used him as comic relief.

Joey's Ron is closer to the book Ron than the movie Ron. That's what I love about him. The movies did Ron so dirty.
