This is some rare footage of the Bay Park Raceway Labour weekend races in 1976.
Most of the best "big banger" sports sedans / saloon cars that N.Z had to offer were on hand to race against visiting Australian cars of Frank Gardner in the Chev Corvair and Ron Harrop in his EH Holden sports sedan with Repco F5000 V8.
Kiwi drivers on hand consisted of Jack Nazer in his V8 Vauxhall Victor , Red Dawson in his red DeKon Chev Monza , Bill Leckie in the Sleepyhead Capri , Art McKee in a 2nd DeKon Monza.
Also racing is a nice range of Shell Sport series cars including Steve Emson in his Eastern Tools Datsun and Brian Blackberry in the "Frist" orange juice FVC Mk1 Escort.
