Thank you. I am 69 yrs young, my dad showed me chess at age 7, he was a ruthless bastard! It took me 10 years to win my first game, after that , he never won again! I'm not very good, yet I enjoy this game. Thank you for your inputs! XX
Hard puzzle and you need to be so accurate in finding the right moves, thank you.
Good job. Thanks 👍
I think it would be worth pointing out why 1.Ra8 Qxa8 2.h6 fails.
Sacrifice the rock in A1 check and win
I think the first move is rook from a5 to b5? if I am right I think I have this one BUT I have taken about 8 minutes????
let you know after I have watched this
I do not know the solution, but I would play 1.h6 and after gxh I would try 2.Ra8+ Qxa8 and 3.Rh7 with win. I think the move Ra8 + is a small point...
I'm kicking myself for not solving this because I knew the precise position of all pawns mattered (because it is a designed puzzle) yet nothing I was looking at involved the pawns much. I was just afraid of perpetual checks so I went with Rb5, even though I didn't find a great ending.
He doesnt mention if Rc5 Qb2 check rb5 then qxb5 snd Kxc7. This doesnt work after h6
5:39 I would like to see the queen g6 line.
1. Ra8+, 1.Kxa8
2.Rc8# 😊😊
After 4 minutes he explains why this fails.
And black wins.
1.Qxa8
i think faulty
Ka8 Ra5 wins QXR,Rf8
i think Rb5 is also winning for white.
That was my answer too, but I wasn't able to get a certain win out of it. Qf3 prevents the King from moving without losing the c7 rook, avoiding a discovered check. Also Qf1 threatens a trade of both rooks for the queen leaving black's passed pawn free to push all the way. Both moves force Rd7 because Re7 or Rg7x will result in Qf6+ forking the rook. It gets messy.
@@tykemorris if Qf3 or Qf1 then Rc6 will be the next move for white.
edit: Rc7-c5 also is a good reply if not better
0:51 - Why not examine R-e7? It avoids or prevents the Q-a3 move.
What about Re7? Unlike Rf7 it seems all squares the queen can go to to block Re8 after checking are covered. Or am I missing something?
Black wouldn't try to prevent Re8. He would begin a series of what could be perpetual checks.
Ra8
