- The truly important take-away from India's 2024 election is that meaningful reform of the Congress Party has been pushed back for a decade or more. What Indian democracy needs most of all is not a BJP majority. What Indian democracy needs is a family-free Congress.
Correct, but what's extremely sad is the fact that appeasement politics will only increase after this.
For the next couple of years, we will see an extremely arrogant Gandhi family, and they will damage the Congress party.
Yeah.. many of us who voted for BJP have given up on congress. Rajiv and Priyanka will always be the head and do nothing meaningful.
You mean Rahul
Prof, so glad to hear your thoughts :) No once can save India from Congress.
True, Professor.
You are absolutely true
excellent view, many had not spotted. thanks sir
Spot on, Professor. The fact that India needs a robust and coherent opposition is not articulated loudly enough, often enough.
While what you say about Congress losing an opportunity is insightful, it will not be received well by the party. They don’t see it as an existential crisis.
I’d argue that it’s futile to expect Congress to be that solidly centrist opposing voice in policy-making. We don’t have any party like that, not even BJP. There are bureaucrats who are erudite enough to influence policy making, irrespective of the party in power. In reality our policy-making coffers in the political system are empty. Which is why we will continue to be less-than-significant as a civilisational influence for decades to come.
💯% correct
that what I thought too.
So true.
Well said sir
The family must relinquish their hold on the old Congress party for genuine leaders to emerge!
great analysis prof, honestly though I m not sure even a 2019 style disaster for Congress would have made any difference in their dynastic politics. That party is totally in the hands of this family and their corrupt sycophants, they always can count on Muslim vote bank to stay somewhat relevant in Indian politics. As u know they already made Kharge the scapegoat for that doomsday scenario, but now the Gandhi family will take all the credits.
Very true predicament.
Absolutely correct. It’s a national loss.
Couldn't agree more
Perfect analysis 👌 😊
Never thought this way. BJP is still in power, and Modi is in position to course correct while not loosing power significantly!
Absolutely right!! Exactly what I thought when I saw Rahul, Sonia, Kharge brandishing V sign
Nice analysis
I'm so glad you said this professor! Good to see your views! Largly Modi 3.0 will not be very different I reckon.
Your thoughts should be point of discussion in the Media. Two party is actually a requirement for a stable Central Govt.
Do you think BJP/Modi will govern any differently with this result? In my experience, most governments would be delighted to get a stable governing majority for a third term; but some are speculating that there is a need for a more accommodating "coalition politics".
India is unfortunate to be saddled with Nehru/Gandhi family who will divide and bankrupt the country. Many countries would be happy to have a leader like Modi who wants to develop the nation but India has such fault-lines that it makes it challenging. For people who watch from the sidelines but wish India well, it is heartbreaking.
i hv to say, he make more sense here than taklu his guru - SG :)
What about the anti Democratic law made by CONGRESS in the name of DEMOCRACY & VOTE-BANK Politics...? Eg Waqf-Act, Personal Law for Muslims, Reservation in the name of CAST/RELIGION & not Economic Status....??
Mr Salvatore Babons , you are a foreigner , you have no wright's to discuss about indian politics , did any indian discuss about Australian politics , no right , so why you wants to interfere in indian politics
He knows more about indian politics than most Indians voting for money and freebies
Sorry, Mr. Mondal, but you are wrong. Everyone has the right to DISCUSS Indian politics, or the politics of any other country, for that matter. A foreigner does not have the right to INTERFERE in India's politics, but he/she is perfectly free to analyse it. Prof. Babones' analysis is in fact quite insightful. (But, of course, the Indian National Congress is in a self congratulatory mood, and is very unlikely to listen to good advice.)
good news
