Thanks for your honest review Do you have any other recommendations on resonators in that price range? I find that the jack sharing the tasks with holding the instrument is problematic as well
There are a few recommendations out there depending on price range. Recording King makes a few models that are really nice (Swamp Dog especially) and appear to be very well made. I hope to get my hands on one in the future. What I did that works out really well for me is installed a Lace Sensor thin humbucker pickup in a Rogue resonator. It plays like a champ and worked out so well that I have since sold the Gretsch. Hope you find an option that works for you.
Thank you you have given me priviledged information as to the g9220's good features as well as it's limitations, I own one because it came up used for sale could not resist , it gives me an addition for other type guitars that I own for voicing on different genres of musics ,I condede that at a minimum it gets you there yet had I known this info. I might have had second thoughts, a little bit like married to the wrong girl at least not ever having to pay allimony for the rest of you'r blues infused life .Thank you for your time and effort !
It’s actually a spider cone resonator, you can tell by the screw on the top of the resonator pan. Try the Gretsch 9200 Bobtail, biscuit cone resonator acoustic only.
Great review, but that model has a spider cone, not a a biscuit cone They ( Gretsch Factory) did that because it has a Nashville pick up, ( the best resonator pick up) installed that only works with spider cones. Spider cones are more associated with Country and Bluegrass but there is of plenty blues players around who don't mind it as well!
@@davidmacleod9313 I’m not sure how that would affect the truss rod. By reducing the thickness it could possibly weaken the neck and cause a bunch of tuning issues. It might be worth looking at other types of resonators. I ultimately ended up trading this resonator for something else. I just caught myself avoiding playing it and a lot of that was due to the neck shape.
@@rionsguitardungeon8569 Appreciate your honesty! Thank you! It’s just that I heard Jimmy Page would sand the neck of his Les Paul down and, well, the rest is history, right? Lol I will confer with some luthiers and see what they say. Thanks again! And great video too, btw!
@MOTORHEADROCKS Some people care if they think an American company is providing a made in the USA product. Not Bashing, just stating facts. Hopefully you understand, cause the all caps appears like your yelling.
Are you racist or what? There is plenty of great instruments built in Orient and in China in particular. As much as not so great, but that's another story. Listen, I am a musician and all I care about is having qualità instruments at the most affordable price. All the rest is irrilevant to me!
Thanks for your honesty. Most people never say bad things about a product
Thanks for this honest review. I appreciate the candor on this one, as I've been interested in this guitar
Thanks for your honesty. It is appreciated.
Great, honest review. I was playing one today along with a metal body Gretsch resonator. Thanks for the info!
I just bought a new one a week ago. So far I am pleased with it. I just wish it had a volume control. Great review brother.
It says “roundneck” but it’s really a V neck, ain’t it?
Thanks for your honest review

Happy to help
The different resonator designs absolutely produce different sounds. Definitely not just stylistic.

Thanks for clarifying, I misspoke there. As you can tell my videos aren’t scripted and mistakes do happen. Lol 😆
The Gretsch G9200 is spider cone as well....the G9240 Alligator has biscuit cone
He stated that He needs an electro acoustic reso guitar !
Great review, but that model has a spider cone, not a a biscuit cone

Great review! 👍
As a novice guitarist what would you suggest as a first choice resonator?
Check out my other video on the Rogue spider resonator. I dig into the details of what I would recommend as the best “starter” resonator. 😁
Rogue is that brand you buy cause you will upgrade one day and you dream of that upgrade the whole time. They suck if you ask me
They say round neck But aren't they a soft V?
You could say that. It is definitely a noticeable V. If you’re playing slide it doesn’t bother anything but there is a learning curve if not.
@@rionsguitardungeon8569Can I sand it the hell off? I hate V necks! But, I want the guitar!

Sorry brother I disagree. I just got mine I think it sounds pretty great for the price. The true down side is not having tone and volume control.
I disagree. I have one, great guitar for the price!!
Find one used.
It's made in china
