Thanks so much Gerald. I was putting this video stuff off for a few months, and comments like this really make it worth while. I think anyone cutting back on the oversized bikes and getting back to basics on a lighter machine that can go anywhere... has their head on straight. And at 64 you have plenty of years to pack in more adventures. Glad to see you're considering staying on two wheel, although by the looks of your channel you've had that covered with mountain-biking.

With my touring boots I'm basically touching with toes, but that works fine because the bike feels light to me. A slight shift on the seat and I've got one foot flat. I'll be investing in more rugged, off-road boots with thicker soles and that should help. Being an off-road bike and needing more clearance, I have not plans for lowering.

KARMAkaze Moto I usually find myself riding solo, so my fear is always not being able to pick a street based bike up. Recently acquired a 250L, and it’s light enough that I can pick it up once or twice by myself.
In my very early 30s, but dialing things back. New bikes are way too fast, and recovering takes longer! :(

The Himalayan on the other hand is much lighter, more maneuverable and easier to ride in the more difficult single track I like.

Such a soothing video to watch, and informative as well (awaiting the ceramic-coated look of the Himalayan exhaust!).. Videos like these propel me toward buying the bike and start clocking kms on it!!!
I had test ridden the Himalayan a couple of months ago, and found it a bit less on power, as the engine felt a bit stressed above 90 km/h. Hence, I kinda parked this one for now. But here you are, doing 75 m/h (120 k/h) with ease! Makes me rethink!

Overselling to the customer starts at the bike manufacturer Look at BMW's bikes displacement numbers going up 50cc to 1250's when the 1200 was to big all you need in an adventure bike is as much as 50 horse power. You need a bike Light enough even if your injured to pick up alone after laying it down. Try lifting a dropped bmw 1250 with a sprained ankle or injured shoulder after a drop. A Smaller bikes makes it easier for one to self rescue

Totally dependent on location of ones trip and wants, I have a older GS 1100 that is well sorted and I take absolute liberties with it off road, if you are single tracking trough a mountain range then certainly smaller is better, If you are riding London to Bangkok I want the extra horse power and size for the longer sections and even on Fire roads a larger bike is absolutely fine, the thing that buggered current ADV bikes is the amount of crap they now have installed that can go wrong and the build quality of some crash prone parts, I would not be to expectant of picking up a dropped current gen Honda AT and jumping straight on and going like I have many times with my old Bimmer, in fact there is a guy on YT that crashed one on a test ride and absolutely buggered the thing with a minor off road drop. I have owned DRZs XR you name it and I certainly would not want to tour at highway speeds for any length of time with one of them. For me an adventure bike must be ok off road whilst still being compliant doing 500miles on road. If someone like URAL could reproduce a R100GS type bike with a basic setup without ABS and all the other shite that would be perfect, something easy to work on, reliable Boxer engine and good both on and off road...

I have a mid 90's Aprilia Pegaso (and have previously owned the Suzuki XF650), it's an amazing bike, but big singles over long distances can tire you out..
My mate has a Transalp, and the difference when covering even 50 miles of high-ish speed boring tarmac.
For most dirt stuff, I use an old DR350, but the Pegaso has done a good amount of trails - been getting more and more difficult as I am less worried about killing the bike - and it's been surprisingly good at them.

Hi Justin. The Royal Enfield Himalayan is a boon for entry level Bike lovers. Its like a 4×4 but on 2 wheels. For the price its a steal.Iam a proud owner of this amazing machine here in Mumbai-India since 2016.The basics i.e engine, chassis etc are good but with a few mods & upgrades its a different machine.Motul 300V 15W50 engine oil,NGK iridium plug,K&N filter,Nitrogen in tyres and its ready to fly.The silencer cover plates look classic if powder coated black alongwith the skid plate. Also spoke covers from Amazon enhances the look of the bike.If taken care and looked after this bike is for keeps.👍😊

      What's the purpose of nitrogen?

@KARMAkaze Moto N2 is more useful in hot and humid countries like India where oxygen in plain air expands like crazy and also the humid climate makes the Oxygen corrode the wheels. Not so useful in a temperate climate like North America

This is all really nice to hear, especially about watching on 4K, because I am not a video person. From using the cameras, to choosing the shots, and then the big task of video editing... I am still learning and trying my hardest. I have done a lot of photography and graphic design work, so that helps. Thanks Lon Traveler Gunjan! I hope you also enjoyed Part 2. It was shorter and there was a nice nature scene in it. A bit of a surprise.
