Really liked this one, one of my DI's back in 85 was a Scout Sniper. He was the toughest on us and yet for some reason I liked him the most. When he had the platoon squad bay for the night, he would walk the halfdeck area after lights out between the racks and school us on what things would be like when we were Fleet Marines, when we were in 3rd phase if that's where we were headed. He had his sh*t together like nobody else I had ever seen at the time.
Well presented and well ordered. Great job, Ethan. I am sure you will be a success in your civilian career pursuits after the self discipline you learned from your Marine experience. I have to confess, I was in the Army and a lot of banter goes back and forth, but I secretly believed a Marine was a much better trained soldier. I envy your experience and thank you for your service.
Great segment highlighting the reality of warfighter ops from the basic level to the advanced. Ethan puts together a good picture together detailing the processes and trials awaiting candidates. We need guys who are willing to put forth this level of effort without the need for recognition to motivate them.
Thank you for your service Ethan and for an informative yet entertaining story of your journey. Good luck in the future with filmmaking. The Marines STILL have the BEST dress uniform of all the Services. Semper Fi!
Silver Star recipient Ethan Nagel by the way...... Great advice mate, it should inspire young men around the United States to become the best they can be and join the military. There's a famous Dr Samuel Johnson quote from 1778 that goes....... "Every man feels less of himself for not having been a soldier." And its true, that's what motivated me to join the British Army.🇬🇧🇺🇸✌️
great video! As a fellow Hollywood Marine, but one who was in the airwing, I appreciate learning about the infantry and its specialties. The lessons of learning to work hard, plan, pay attention to detail, etc. applied to the airwing (in a different way), and for me, were essential when I went on to a career in engineering.
I'm digging MANPOWER. Can we get more of these episodes telling stories of training or deployments? You know these guys have some good stories of their time in, and that is the stuff that brings this home. All of these jobs are done by people, let the people tell THEIR stories of their time in, the amazing, the funny, the boredom, THE SUCK.
I was stationed at K-Bay in 1980 and I had just finished the army Ranger course. I got a sniper school quota, and went to sniper school out at Ewa Beach. I graduated number one. I was in the Marine Corps from 1976 until 1987. ✊🏽
Can you do a video about green berets, delta force and the Air Force Special Operations Command, like the 24th special tactics squadron, air force combat controllers please.
Good Job on the video. 18:26 I was in an Army Scout platoon as an RTO, and it’s good to hear different techniques and tips. Now that I am “out,” I am thinking of making improvements from the way that we built ours. I know the tried and true methods and that they are proven, but I also realize that there are better materials available as a civilian such as Kevlar line for stitching, Cordura for reinforcement etc. functionality is a consideration such as the ability to have a full top or disconnect it and have a hood with sleeves only. Any techniques and tips or tricks from anyone out there? 18:26
I never did it, and I never will (I'm 40), but this sounds authentic. I'd want anyone who seriously considers doing that kind of thing to watch something like this, in addition to other research. The kind of person I'd want to be a Marine Corps scout sniper is the kind of person who would search around the internet a little bit, maybe UA-cam, to learn more about it.
Wow, really great inside documentary, you should do more❤. 👍👍👍👍 I am Dutch, love your channel and a lot more Dutch then you think.👍👍 Keep going as you are!!❤
Well done video battle. I'm a army veteran tank mechanic. I got out when you get in the marines. Thank you for your service! I'm impressed by what you have done with and for yourself. By the age of 22 you Achieved so much that you strive for. I can truly respect that I join the army at 30. I did do civil air patrol as a kid at 14 ( army r.o.t.c.) but for the air force. Then you school become a film maker!! When u said that. I lmfao because like u said The work translates!! So well done battle again I hope nothing but the best, and if you need A52 year old army Tech mechanic and one of your fijust hit me up. I'm in always not only Veteran put on my geek slash nerd love film and movies be safe battle buddy
The Marine Corps eliminated the MOS 0317. Scout Snipers are gone. Snipers got sent back to their regular infantry units. School is folded up. Only Force Recon and MARSOC will have snipers.
What? They still have scout snipers idk what you are yapping on about, I spoke to a marine recruiter not too long ago and he said you can definitely still be a sniper in the marines without having to be a recon or raiders.
This is crazy town if true. I think the Army got rid of their LRSD (long range surveillance detachments) too. Why would they get rid of indispensable battalion/brigade level assets?
An informative and great systematic training program for becoming the best killer or best spotter in missions..in marine crops in the USA 🇺🇸 naval forces...
My friend and local gun store owner Mike and his son were both Marine Scout Snipers, great men both. His son Arron is now a high school teacher and was my youngest sons favorite, he has had a good effect on my boy as a young man. I have no doubt that Marine Corps Scout Sniper training, had a lot to do with who these men are.
Hello Ethan to a fellow Kbayer only I was there long ago so much that F-4 phantoms were still flying in the corps got to learn and become on a simple mistake to my Gunny at the time, his brother in law was the scout sniper Plt Sgt did one Westpac, truly enjoyed my time at KBay shame the Corps is moving and closing statiions that need to remain
Hearing about qualifying with an M16A4 in boot camp really made me feel old 😂…it was M16A2 with Iron Sights in my day. And we definitely are God’s gift to the Earth IJS SFMF!
Good shit Marine! The Army needs to spend the same time training soldiers in marksmanship. Army also has try-outs for sniper school but only within Infantry Companies. It's a lot simpler, like most thing in the Army. The Army wants Bravo 4 qualified guys so they try to reach out.
@@Paladin.Brandisyes 0317 is gone but you can still join a STA platoon as a scout, you’ll still have to do an InDoc but you won’t ever go to scout sniper school and earn the title Hog.

You actually got me with the joke about getting through boot camp. Alex this new MANPOWER series is outstanding. We all thank you!
Gods gift to the world! 10 feet tall and Bullet Proof, even at 5'10"! That is how you feel. Semper Fi!! Loved the video Ethan.

Diggin' the series, Alex. Thanks.

Excellent listen. I'm about to forward this to some younger folks I know that are curious about the Corps.

Where can I find your work?
Very cool 😎… Semper Fi!
Making my retired Marine ass miss being active duty..!!
I knew you back in the day Nagel
Impressive
My gg grandfather and uncle were "sharp shooters" (snipers) in the Army of Virginia during the civil war.
Very cool bro
You made a video about something that got shut down.
I thought the Corps eliminated line battalion snipers! Only Recon and above are keeping them, am I wrong?
I’ve seen vids, and read articles.
In short, you cant. The Scout Sniper School is now part of Recon. SO you need to be a Recon Marine, then you can go to sniper school.
God DAMN, that shit is HARD AS FUCK honestly.........Jesus H.
Those dudes are straight up ODST's.

The last scout sniper course was a while back. It's gone.
There might be a DM course in the Scouts, but the Scout Sniper is no more. What a loss.
They got rid of snipers last year, lol. Recon absorbed the tasks that would ordinary be carried out by scout snipers
Nice boy good information ❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊
Get one up on the 24th SOW USAF. Bad boys that not many outside of SOF’s community truly know about.
Was he with 1/3?
*Didn’t the Corp terminate their sniper school?*
Problem with this video is, Scout Snipers are being disbanded under the new restructuring plans
National Guard is also quite a bit different than active duty Army.
Marine also ended the advanced sniper course. Marines now attend the Army's school.
I thought the marines are droping their scout sniper MOS?
Yes the infrantry has no more scout snipers just reconnaissance and marsoc now
Yes
Hard to imagine him running 6 miles anywhere
Forgive me, but didn’t the USMC disband Scout Snipers?
Right?!?!? I am about to join as 0300 and I ship out August 19th I am wondering this SO BAD? I am going to have to talk to my recruiter honestly.....

Comparing part time National Guard to active duty Marines? Okay, got it.
DAMN , YOU REALLY WENT DOWNHILL AFTER THE CORE!!
Gee, I’m glad I went to flight school, I’d never made it as a sniper 😮
