What wonderful memories this video brought back. The houses, the neighbors and the schools. The Hollyhock Parade on the 4th of July was so exciting for me. I proudly decorated and road my bike in it each year. A blessing to have grown up there. Nancy Hammel Prominski
The Lion's Club parade, 1919 at 1:22, is probably more like 1932-36 judging by the cars and people's attire. Same for the Downtown parking lot, 1920"s at 1:45. As history professors at Grand Valley, Travis and Mapes should've known better.
Born and raised on the west side. Love GR. Spent my summers at Richmond park swimming 80s-early 90s
Nice....from a guy born and raised in GR. And still here.

As a native of Grand Rapids, watching this video made me cry. 😢
Possibly the best Video of GR photo history.
I like it. But I wish each slide lasted a few seconds longer. Maybe 10 seconds each so you can get a good look
You can pause the video by tapping the screen.
