Clothes are just always going to be something that's easier to declutter in layers. As you get one pile out the door, you start to find out which clothes you actually enjoy and which you don't. It takes so much time though! I'm always re-evaluating my clothes and donating some and buying some others, and that's totally okay. I'm just impressed you have kept going through those mountains and ALSO been smart enough to outsource some of the work so you CAN keep going!
Colt was so lucky to be adopted into your family! I can see that he is loving it! And I am so glad that both of your boys bring you joy and laughter. I am so glad they got to frolic amongst your clothes! Sometimes our loved ones are more important than getting alot done, or keeping clothes pristine. ❤
Those boys are just gorgeous together and it does look like Colt has lived with you forever. You are so calm with him, I think he really has just decompressed in your home. In regards to how much you let go each time, anything that you let go is a win. Better to go at your own pace and just keep going rather than trying to let go more than you are comfortable with and then stopping because it's too anxiety provoking. I've also made waaaaaaay too many purchases that I wish I hadn't! I'm only just learning at the age of 49 that I can see something I love in a shop and I can just enjoy it in that moment, I do not need to own it! I have a new little habit of going online shopping and putting lots of things in my cart, then leaving that cart for a day or two. When I come back to it it's surprising how many items I no longer feel the need to buy! Looking forward to the next video.....xx
I just did a declutter of clothes on Monday. It was a holiday, so I had all day to do it. I pulled everything out of the closet and drawers (I left the hanging clothes) and sorted. It has gotten SO MUCH EASIER for me to do over the years. I started decluttering about three years ago. You are so right about "the first pass". You have to build that muscle. It is the first of many many passes. Decluttering is never done. I walked through Kohl's yesterday and had given myself permission to get either some jeans, a dress or a basic T (all items I've determined I need). I ended up not getting anything. Everything I saw reminded me of stuff I just got rid of, LOL. I think decluttering is turning me into a more discerning consumer. Thanks so much for sharing! I want to come over and play with your pups while you work :)
I think seeing dogs playing about and being happy hits in the same happy button of when you hear a random toddler/small child giggle. Whilst the keep pile is the biggest pile, you do have two separate piles that are leaving the house one way or another, imagine how big that pile would be if you put them together. There’s a rule I remember seeing that most people wear 20% of their clothes 80% of the time. I think you wear less than 20% of your clothes because you can’t get to that 20%. By doing a first pass, you will get to that 20% and work out what you truly love and want to keep. Therefore you’ll be able to take that back to the correct portions, of wearing the majority of your wardrobe the majority of the time because you truly love what is in there.
Stop apologizing for what you keep. You are not going for minimalism. As long as you are focusing on a clean, healthy environment you can sustain, I say you have succeeded. What that looks like will change with your seasons of life, I'm sure. You are doing amazing!
Colt has settled in very well, you'd think he had been with you for years not weeks. I think he loves his new home. You're making good progress so keep going!
I agree about Colt. Based on what the shelter told me, I thought it would take him longer to decompress and get settled in. I love seeing his zany, vibrant personality blossom. Thanks for commenting!
Great job, Mira. Just take your time, once you feel better, you'll be able to let go. Everyone has their own pace. Cudfle the doggies from me. Greetings from Munich
Thank you for those encouraging words! I love the doggie entertainment while you work. I was washing dishes and packing lunches while watching. Thank you for the company! I have lots of clothes to look through, too. I change out my closet for the seasons, so it is time to look through again soon. I only got to swim twice last summer, but fantasy me probably has 5 suits. I got a lot of clothes during the recent few years, too.
Hi Mira, thank you for touching the spot of financial guilt we might have due to our past purchases. I never dared to ask about it directly just to spare you thinking about it. Your thoughts are mirroring mine. Whenever I get rid of something that triggers financial guilt, I try to focus on the - albeit expensive - lesson I am learning... to be more intentional about what to bring into my home and life. Trying to get some money back is the effort that I am going though to mitigate the harm to my budget, deepening the learning. Wishing you the best for your decluttering and selling journey! Regards from Germany. 😊
That was a great achievement Mira- you went through a heap of clothes. Bit by bit you’ll get it done eventually- it’s not a race. When you are putting things away in your cupboards you’ll probably let go of a few more items. Working from home means you’ll need far fewer clothes. I find when everything is hanging in the wardrobe I can see what I have and I rarely buy clothes anymore.
Decluttering clothing, for me, always seems easier when I do it in phases. It’s less stressful and I always find that I let even more go in subsequent phases. You’re doing a great job in removing any regret about letting something go, prematurely.
You are actually really fast at your decisions and sorting into piles. Some people hold for a long time and then need to try on and can’t remember the details of the piece itself. You always know right away about the fit, colours that you don’t enjoy or fantasy type ideas you thought would work but don’t turn out. You have many bags gone to donation and thread up which is super impressive. The struggle seems to be the quantity for you which you point out and remind viewers this is first pass and work stages. Keep it up Mira- you are fun to watch and see all the changes.
The shenanigans being pulled are why my dogs aren't allowed on my bed when I'm sorting laundry. If they had their way they would throw all my clothes onto the floor.
I have found that items I have posted tend to have a pattern They sell within a few days or sit unsold forever So I now have a two week limit and if not sold by then I donate those items I am so impressed by your progress 👏👏👏👏
Hiya Mira You are doing so well darlin letting go of what you have. When you have gone through all your clothes, you will probably find that you will let more go as you organise your closet 😊 Really excited to see your new space 😊😊 ❤ Much love and support from Angela in Scotland xxxxx
I've never considered myself a minimalist as I have plenty of everything, but when I see the sheer volume of stuff on these videos... I have 3 pairs of jeans. 1 skirt. a few tops. 2 winter jackets, and maybe 5 other pieces of odds and ends. maybe I need to go shopping. lol
Norma here. Well, you did pretty good with getting rid of some of the clothing and I’m sure you’ll add a few more to the get rid of pile on your second pass. I hope you’re able to get rid of at least half those t-shirts in that huge pile. No one needs that many shirts, or leggings unless you change outfits 3xs a day and never, ever want to do laundry. lol As it stands, you probably have enough outfits to wear for the next year without having to wear anything twice. Clay and Colt were having such a good time. They bring you so much joy and keep you from dwelling on the tasks.
I got rid of all of my cold shoulder and loud graphic tops as I am bigger on the top than the bottom and loud shirts just made me look bigger. You just keep on going, Mira!
In keeping with the circus theme, “And now, in the centre ring, The Marvellous Mira and her performing poodles!” Great job powering through that pile of clothes despite the canine distractions! 😁🎩🐩🎪
You are still releasing a lot of clothes even if you are keeping a lot right now like you said first time around & you are doing fantastic Mira. Aww the sweet pups had a good afternoon playing that is real life distraction but that is a fun one.
I'm here for the dogs and your laugh! Nothing more therapeutic than a pet that can make you laugh. If you got rid of anything in this session, I'll just have to believe you as I wasn't paying any attention to that. 😂😉❤️❤️ JK, of course. You did great this first time around!!
I have a theory about poodles. All poodles, regardless of size, get the same amount of sass when they get created. Unfortunately, that sass gets hella concentrated in the wee, lil poodles, so the smaller they are, the more rambunctious, mischievous and stinkin' adorable they are.
I know what you mean about how the money is already spent, let go of what you’re ready to let go of. My piles are books rather than clothing. A new book might cost $20-$30 (or more) and be worth $1.00 as soon as it leaves the store. But the items brought/bring joy. Great job, by the way! And, it’s fun to see Clay and Colt being buddies and loving life.
random thought here, would be interesting to see what your threddup sales are like. good, bad, indifferent, worth while? or would you next use a different venue?
What luck! I just sat down with a coffee and a box of fabrics (from my overwhelming collection) to de-clutter, and here is a new Mira video to keep me company 😊
YES to selling the stuff you declutter! When money was tight, for example when I attended university, I tried to sell much more than in times when money wasn't much of a problem. The few bucks can really add up. On top of that, it really helped me seeing how much work it is to get rid of stuff. I don't think I would have changed my consumption patterns if I had made things too easy for myself and just donated everything. Selling is work! That being said, I also offered A LOT for free and managed the pick ups. Back then the thrift stores in my area didn't take much. It was a long process and I am glad I took my time with it. Totally worth it.
You did a great job. I loved seeing and hearing you get rid of clothing with tags on it. If you haven’t worn it it has to go to give you room for a happy life. Swimsuits, who cares. Just get out there and have fun!
Love the pups and hearing you laugh at their antics! You’re doing a great job, Mira. I find clothes to be the hardest to declutter, tedious! But you’re making it fun!
Thank you for the pep talk at the end. Those are exactly the feelings that are holding me back from progress. I'll have to listen to that a few times. And I love the dog shenanigans in this one. 🥰🐶🐶
Re-watching this for the enjoyment and laughter of seeing Inspector Clay and young Colt who he’s mentoring. I seem to be coming down with Flu B AGAIN. Feeling rotten, terrible chills, constant vomiting and diarrhea. I need cheering up! Mira, Clay and Colt to the rescue ! I feel too bad to laugh, but not even Flu B can stop smiles. Love your videos! Thank you!
The money, yeah… where you have clothes, I have books! I’ve often thought that I probably could have retired a year or two sooner if I still had all the money I’ve spent on books over the years. I’ve donated many that I never even read. Right now, I’m in a decluttering mood, and can’t wait till spring because an organization that runs a gigantic book sale will start accepting donations then. I’m eager to get going!
I'm so happy to see that Colt is settling nicely and Clay seems to be very happy with his new friend. They're adorable and hilarious! ❤❤ It's not important whether or not you get rid of a lot of things, what's important is doing your best and I think you're doing great! My decluttering strategy is the "onion peel" decluttering, it takes longer but it's not overwhelming! Take care and cheers from Ontario Canada. 🦔🐿🦌
Well, once again, the dogs stole the show. You and the boys make me laugh. You did an excellent job working on your montain of clothing. Perhaps some of your viewers do not understand how far you have come. Please just know that you have come very far in a short. I kept thinking that Colt's corner probably in chaos again. You are a brave soul my friend. Love and hugs!
I've seen videos where you've let go of 75%of what you've gone through. It's going to vary quite a bit, depending on how you feel that day and what layer of clutter you're working on. Sometimes we keep something that doesn't fit because emotionally we're not ready to let it go, it's not a logical decision. On second or third pass you might be ready. You are accomplishing an insane amount, and I'm glad you give yourself so much grace. ❤️ ❤
I think part of what we buy is a feeling, a mood lift, excitement to try something new or collect something. Even if you never wore the clothes you got some of your money’s worth. And declutterring is mostly free. I feel like I collected a bunch of things I thought were me and declutterring let’s me pare back all the things that aren’t so I can see who I really am - what I’ve become having gone through various experiences and having tried on various “costumes.”
That Colt is an instigator! LOL And he’s very smart; watching everything and grabbing a few things too. I love him! He’s like the naughty kid that’s the most fun!
When you have cute stuff that you like its okay to keep it if you're gonna wear it. There's no need to apologize for that. I think you are doing EXTREMELY well at declutting!! I'm so very proud of you!!!💞💜💞💜💞💜
Such entertaining characters. Well done not getting too distracted. I LOLed when you said oh dear and showed the reindeer jumper. It's a real pretty one, glad you are keeping it.
Dear Mira ❤ I absolutely love this video! you are so chilled and loving towards your dogs - I have my two cats often “helping” me in a similar way but I usually get angry at them and get them out of the room - so I am truly amazed with your reactions! also, the Tarot T-shirt is sooooo beautiful. Your clothes are getting famous 😂 I also sell my stuff when decluttering and it brings me joy, money and satisfaction - I share your viewpoint on that. I think you are doing amazing ❤ the Force is with you! Greetings from Poland
You're getting alot better at this by the day, the point is to declutter what you don't wear or don't like or doesn't fit you don't have to be a minimalist you're doing great and it must be an amazing joy knowing that someone in need will be wearing ALL of this, that's huge madam
Yet another of your videos I have to save! Those 2 pups and your contagious laughter are just too wonderful to play just once. This video will see many replays! Very motivating sorting and decluttering, too! I must give you an update on my chaos home. The boxes of to-be-decluttered stuff that covered my fireplace hearth and a half circle in front for the last 6 months is almost GONE! AND I’ve started re-decluttering and re-organizing kitchen cabinets! You have inspired me so much, and I’m getting things done! Thank you!
Oh love how Clay and Colt are playing amongst your clothes too funny they are adorable. Nope don’t want that Mom. You’re doing great with your clothes clutter🙂little at a time.🥰
I’ve been watching some of your older videos again and enjoyed them just as much as the first time. You asked for ideas for statistics. I would be interested in learning how many bags of thread up you have sent in! I also really enjoy your maintenance videos as well. You my friend have made major accomplishments! I’m proud of you.
Oh friend….the destruction that our fur babies cause, and the money they cost us. My goodness, the VERY BEST THERAPY AVAILABLE! Unconditional love & and abundance of joy. Worth every bit of it! Stay the course girl! 💕
I'm glad you're persevering at a pace that works for you. We each have our own ways of tackling big jobs, and they often are not very pretty during the messy middle! I love your videos and look forward to your future sessions. T-shirt tower will be fun, I know.💗
Watching you sort through mountains of clothes made me realize why my wardrobe is relatively small: I wear only solids - never any patterns! And the palette I gravitate to is neutrals, so there's only so many grey, beige, black, and white articles of clothing one can have without being redundant. All those funky patterns and colours are cute - no wonder it's tempting to have them all!
My dog really watches tv and got so excited seeing your pups! Despite what you're going through you adopted a new dog and it's obvious you take great care of them. To me that makes you a special person! Your videos are so refreshingly real!
Thank you for a very entertaining video! I really enjoyed Clay and Colt’s antics! I loved your p.s. at the end. You’re such a kind person and are always thinking of others. ❤
I have ONE jacket I just can’t let go of . . . I’ve finally decided to use it to cover a cushion (red/magenta shot satin with little gold buttons). Maybe 2 cushions!
Mira, loved the circus! Colt and Clay are just too cute for words. You are doing great for a first pass! You go girl. It gets easier on subsequent passes. And thanks for Mira’s Words of Wisdom and Compassion - we all need to learn to be easier on ourselves.
Hi Mira, always awesome to see your progress, and so nice to hear you giggling your head off at those 2 clowns! I did another round of clothes last week, I have a massive bag to sell, 3 bags to donate and one I'm keeping as "outdoor clothes" - I don't mind if they get a bit trashed doing dirty tasks. I love everything that's in my wardrobe now. There may be some things I stop reaching for. Life changes, my body changes, my tastes have changed. It's all ok.
Mira your doing a great job do things at your own pace. I can only imagine how hard this is ,but you’re doing amazing. I know that people give suggestion and some can be judgmental. They are not you ,you do you 💕💕💕💕💕💕 have you thought of putting your shoes in a small box with a lid while you nap so your four legged baby doesn’t steal them same with anything he tries to chew that is not his. Give him his things only. You doing want him to get hurt chewing things he shouldn’t. Oh well, you’re doing a great job ,keep up a bit at a time. Before you know it you will have conquered the clothing circus 💕💕💕💕🐶🐶🐶🐶
Thank you for the encouragement and acceptance. You have a great attitude. I've found (though I forget this sometimes) that the second pass is so productive.
If things don't fit perfectly why keep them on probation? Especially since you have so many clothing options. I am sure as you go through more of your home you may find more clothing boxes. I love colt and Clay's shenanigans. ❤
Wow you did Great! Don’t be sorry about keeping things that don’t fit, you do you! Don’t worry about what others think! Be proud of what you did! I’m proud of you! Love 💕 you and waiting for more videos! Wishing You and your 2 beautiful dogs 🐶 health, love and happiness always!🙋🏼♀️🇨🇦
Mira, please don't take this as a criticism as it really isn't meant to be, it's meant as a suggestion. Many people are allergic to pet hair and dander so it might be prudent to keep the unsorted clean clothing away from your your boys when they are rolling around, walking over and playing on your bed. If you start off with unsorted in a big black trash bag on the bed and put all sell/donate straight into their own bags the boys can still play around you and keep you company. It's just an idea tho and you are doing a great job so far paring it all down to manageable levels. Keep up the good work!
A sweet suggestion but the people who are buying the clothes will wash them once they get them and it seems that Mira needs the dogs for emotional support which is much more important. I’m very allergic to all animals, plants, foods, even meds so I’m saying this from someone with an allergy point of view. I always buy second hand clothes and wash them immediately.
@@Rue_vlogI was gonna say the same thing! As someone with allergies, I never trust that everyone will take the time Mira took to wash all the clothes before donating. And even if they do, I won't be able to know for how long the clothes stayed in the store, getting dust, or with people trying them on. I honestly wash even new clothes before wearing them for the first time. I don't see any harm, but I appreciate the way @toni5431 kindly talked about this. But I believe it's nicer to see Mira being able to laugh again, feeling better closer to her cuties!
I really think it shouldn't be a concern to Mira at all. She's already keeping her house decluttered, dealing with grief and taking care of her mental health and happiness. The allergic people surelly can take care of some pieces of clothing.
Most donation places, resale, and consignment places wash items before putting them out. Individuals that have pet, smoke, and dust allergies typically wash everything they purchase when they bring it home. Also another fun fact, poodles are hypoallergenic. I think it's more important that Mira have her inspectors giving her emotional support than worrying if someone can't launder a clothing item after purchasing it. 😊🐕🐕🎉
Good for you for sticking with it. Don't worry about what other people say about donating, you do you. :)
Clothes are just always going to be something that's easier to declutter in layers. As you get one pile out the door, you start to find out which clothes you actually enjoy and which you don't. Really excited to see your new space 😊😊 ❤
Much love and support from Angela in Scotland xxxxx
I love that you're starting to put things on probation 🙌. Those will be the next peel on the onion!
One is already out. I tried to wear it today, got it partway over my head and decided probation is over; it's off to jail. 😂
Hi Ms. Mira! Still working hard! Keep up the good work!
Ive never seen so many leggings, and shirts. Keep going, your getting there..
I've never considered myself a minimalist as I have plenty of everything, but when I see the sheer volume of stuff on these videos...
I have 3 pairs of jeans. 1 skirt. a few tops. 2 winter jackets, and maybe 5 other pieces of odds and ends. maybe I need to go shopping. lol
Same here, i dont need alot nor do i want alot.. when i find something i dont wear or havent worn in a few months it goes in a donation bag..
Good job! Slow and steady wins the race🙂
I'm stuck in my bedroom 😮
Unbelievable I call it spring cleaning 😂😂😂😂
You've got your hands full with that guy! BWHAHHAHA! I love how Clay is joining in with him on his shananigans - LOL!
OMG, he is such a firecracker!
Norma here.

Ha ha, relatable. I honesty considered zooming in on the dog action and just calling it a shenanigans video.
I have a theory about poodles. All poodles, regardless of size, get the same amount of sass when they get created. Unfortunately, that sass gets hella concentrated in the wee, lil poodles, so the smaller they are, the more rambunctious, mischievous and stinkin' adorable they are.

Those dogs add so much to all of our lives! I’m so glad you added the little black dog. You are a two dog girl I think
It is a process. You have a great plan. The dogs were super cute. They had me in tears 😂😂😂
Totally understandable.
"The money has already been spent " yes! That helps!!!!
still did alot- great job !!!
random thought here, would be interesting to see what your threddup sales are like. good, bad, indifferent, worth while? or would you next use a different venue?
People need 2 realize it's your clothes. It's your decision 2 sell or keep them. It's on your time & No 1 else's.❤😊
What luck! I just sat down with a coffee and a box of fabrics (from my overwhelming collection) to de-clutter, and here is a new Mira video to keep me company 😊
You got this!
Yay! You can do it! Thanks for watching.
I love the circus! That was the greatest show on earth…. Lol
😂
Amen
You are such a great dog mom! Keep going Mira!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤
1st pass is right, great job Mira!
Thank you!
You are doing a great job, Mira! Keep at it, you will get there!
You go girl! Great job.
That's great! Love that for you.
Please, how do you do with books? Asking for a friend and her mum. 😅
oh Mira, this video had me in stitches haha! 😂😂😂
Well done! You stayed focus in spite of their shinanighans!! Xx
I tried. It was funny to watch the footage because they were busier than I realized at the time.
Those two are little chaos tornadoes, hilarious! Clay looks like he's acting like a puppy again too. I think you did great on your first pass!
I believe that this is the most fun declutter video yet!
Dogs are like children and colt is like a toddler you gotta put everything up high.😊
Well done Mira, you’re doing great. Another big pile of clutter out the door! Just keep chipping away at it love. Take care, from the UK x
❤im so glad to see you laughing Mira 😀! Colt's an adorable new addition to your family, take care enjoy your day 🎉!
You qre doing great with the peeling! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
You're getting alot better at this by the day, the point is to declutter what you don't wear or don't like or doesn't fit you don't have to be a minimalist you're doing great and it must be an amazing joy knowing that someone in need will be wearing ALL of this, that's huge madam
Yes! Thank you!
I always say that having my dog is like having a toddler. It looks like you have two.😂 🐶 🐶
Yet another of your videos I have to save! Thank you!
Oh Mira, they stole the show again❤lol
They really did. 😂
Only let go of what you want to
Dogs are so cute, they are trying to figure out where the clothes went!
Yes Mira, first pass. There can always be a second, third, fourth and so on. I admire you.
Oh love how Clay and Colt are playing amongst your clothes too funny they are adorable. Nope don’t want that Mom. You’re doing great with your clothes clutter🙂little at a time.🥰
Thanks so much!
You are so kind. Thank you!
Colt and clay are hilarious 😂. You did really well. You got rid of stuff and peeled a little bit more, that's what it's all about 😊
Thank you for a very entertaining video! I really enjoyed Clay and Colt’s antics! I loved your p.s. at the end. You’re such a kind person and are always thinking of others. ❤
Thanks so much!
We love you Mira! I've never enjoyed the circus so much 😂
I have ONE jacket I just can’t let go of . . . I’ve finally decided to use it to cover a cushion (red/magenta shot satin with little gold buttons). Maybe 2 cushions!
You are continually making progress, and that's a good thing. Keep it up!
Hi, love that you talk instead of playing music. Tina, Al's wife
Well done! I'm so excited to follow your example and love everything in my wardrobe too.
Great job Mira! Decluttering clothes is my hardest category especially the items for our fantasy selves. You are doing great!
Always love your videos, Mira! So proud of you and your progress! Even in the midst of crazy puppy antics - LOL!
Thank you so much!
Thank you!
Thank you for the encouragement and acceptance. You have a great attitude. I've found (though I forget this sometimes) that the second pass is so productive.
You're making so much progress! Good job! Colt seems to be fitting in beautifully. Thank you for allowing us into your home. 👍☺️👍
Thank you! 😊
If things don't fit perfectly why keep them on probation? Especially since you have so many clothing options. I am sure as you go through more of your home you may find more clothing boxes. I love colt and Clay's shenanigans. ❤
Bonjour, this is the first pass, she is probably decluttering this "probation" pile in the future (next decluttering ) 😊
This is a good point. I think I will try everything on before it goes in the closet and that will rule out a bunch.
The Great T-shirt Clean out of 2024 coming soon in a device in your home. I'm eagerly waiting for it.
Thank you so much!
Thanks for messaging this to Mira I had been thinking the same thing!
