Hi Lee, thanks so much for making this video. Strongly considering the carbon fibre options out there for my next guitar for various reasons. Looking forward to your in-depth video looking at the looper and other functions. Didn’t realise you lived in Spain so carbon fibre perfect for that!
Thanks for your comment, Mike. Yeah, it completely depends what you want it for as to what is the best solution. I still need to mess with the LAVA ME 3 a bit more to maximise its potential but that'll be for after my busy summer season now
Many thanks for your quick reply! Have you had the need to change the strings yet? Just wondering if that’s as simple as It appears to be with that bridge?
Nobody is the world's best guitarist. Apart from the fact that it's totally subjective, there is so much to learn that one player can't possibly know it all. One human lifespan just isn't enough time.
Hey Lee, thanks for the low-down on the Lava me3. (I WANT ONE!) LOL. My personal preference is a 12-string instrument. I had a Takamine 12-string, dreadnought cutaway with an inbuilt stereo pickup years ago. Loved it but needed cash, so I let it go; I've missed it ever since. It would be nice if I could get a Lava carbon fibre in a 12-string cutaway version; let me know if you hear of any such. Loved your Lava me 3 demo video; I'll look for you on Facebook and Instagram.
Thanks for your comment, David. I will certainly keep an eye out for such a thing. A friend of mine has had my LAVA ME 3 for a couple of months on loan and I have to say, I really miss having it around. Should have it back this week!
@@leetownsend Thanks Lee; please keep in touch, bro. Hope your ME 3 comes home. I saw an ad-on device called a Harpo the other day. Apparently, one can strap it onto a 6-string unit, and it provides the extra 6 strings and enables a 12-string emulation. I'd like to look into that item too. Stay safe, bro. I'll catch you later.
Nice video Lee! Well done! Can you use multiple effects at once and save them as favourite setting? Also curious about the storage capacity. I own a Journey carbon fiber travel guitar (fits in a luggage compartment of an airplain). If they would make the neck removable I would def buy it. Cheers, Harmen
Thanks Harmen, There are certain effects built-in which incorporate more than one single effect so, in that way, it is possible. The effects you add to a "template", though, can only be used one at a time so if you wanted, for example, a delay and reverb at the same time, you'd have to find the effect which already has both and use that as one single effect. Hope that makes sense!
So it works and makes sounds without turning the screen on ? So if one day the screen thing stops working , we still can play the guitar like a regular one , right ?
If you turn off the module, you can still play the guitar like an acoustic guitar. It's got a really nice sound, too. Very unique, but I like the way it sounds.
You can file the bridge saddle down if you prefer lower action. I actually really like the way it's set up from the factory, after having it for a few months.
Unplugged, it could be louder, but I don't think the point was to amplify the guitar. The idea is that the speaker plays the effect while the guitar can be heard acoustically.
@@leetownsend I saw a comparison of the two sizes and the bigger was slightly richer in sound. Unless you need travel size bigger my preference. Bigger is also $100 more.
If that's the case, you won't be disappointed in the sound. I'm really happy with the sound of this one. I think Lava Music have done a great job with it.
@@leetownsend I've watched nearly every UA-cam out on the 3 and nobody has done a deep dive on practice app. Be cool to see how a veteran player could use it to hone skills and your opinion on how a beginner could start and progress in-app.
That's the first time I've appreciated the tone of the Lava Me 3 as being quite nice. And it's obviously because you are using that Shure 7B microphone, one of best anywhere IMHO (the same one I've got). All the other unwrappings and demos left me totally unimpressed. Now I'm inclined to feel differently. Now, sadly, I have another guitar to dream about!
It definitely has a unique sound. I'm yet to sit down and really dial in a plugged-in sound from it because I've been so busy playing live and haven't had an opportunity to rehearse my solo set. I'm quite particular about tone and I worry that without the possibility of using a magnetic soundhole pickup, I might struggle to be happy with it. The winter months will be the test when I can sit down with it for a prolonged session. Unplugged, I really like how it sounds
Nice choice. I have a few that I'd definitely consider if money was no object. I'd definitely like to play a few Martin acoustics (I've never even held one). I've also always fancied a Gibson 335 and a Telecaster. There are more in the dream section of my brain but those are the main ones 😁
Hey! Thanks for your comment. I'm afraid a friend of mine has borrowed the guitar for a few weeks so I can't measure it right now. I'll get it back and let you know as soon as I can
I think, at this stage, it's about the concept. There's no reason they couldn't make something like this with a changeable battery, for example. We'll see how we'll the battery holds up over the next few years but so far, it's still going strong.
OMG, I can tell that the lava music designed many details for their products. Not only the guitar, but also accessories!!
I've just ordered myself the blue lava ( which is the same as the lava me 3 but made with HPL ) and I just can't wait...Great review
How do you like it so far? I´m torn between the lava blue touch and the me 3... how about the size? And is the smart part really worth it?
I got the blue lava and I bloody love it. It is small but the sound is awesome I think. Hope u have as great a time as I have 👍
@@geoffreylewis3954 thank you. I now ordered a Lava me 3 in 38".... hope it's gonna be great! :)
It has a full but mellow projection. Sounds good and glad to see innovation in this space.
I've had my eye on these for years but I don't know why they called it lavame - it sounds pretty clean already.
Very nice review mate, one of the better ones.
Thanks for posting
Pretty cool guitar & very detail information!! thank you!!

Great review. I want one. Thanks
I'm blown away ☁️🙆☁️this is really cool
Thanks Lee ….. just ordered mine ….. and it’s blue 😂. Looking forward to hours of fun.
I was playing mine all day yesterday. Still great fun 😂
I ordered a 38" in Space Gray with a charging dock. Looks like fun. Can`t wait to play it.
They're amazing fun. I'm interested to hear what you think of the 38" model. Be sure to check back and share you're experience here!
Love your honesty….. to many UA-cam-layers talk as if they are the world’s best players..

soooooo coooool
😎 It is really cool!
Ah, but no truss rod? I hear these come with a high action?
You can file the bridge saddle down if you prefer lower action. I actually really like the way it's set up from the factory, after having it for a few months.
@@leetownsend Thx. Do you find you can play up the neck easily with the factory setting?
Yeah it's not too bad. However, I think I will be taking the action down slightly anyway. Maybe I'll male a video about it
@@leetownsend Cool, I'll be watching.
Do you ever play this on live gigs Lee? All I see on UA-cam is people reviewing it, not playing it because it's their guitar of choice to record with.
I haven't played this one live yet, but I just got 2 new models which I intend to use with my band. Keep your eyes on the channel for updates on that
Is the guitar volume good ? I've heard some people say it doesn't sound loud enough
Unplugged, it could be louder, but I don't think the point was to amplify the guitar. The idea is that the speaker plays the effect while the guitar can be heard acoustically.
That looks like the 36"? I'm getting a 38" in red tomorrow. I'm a beginner, would love to see more about practice functions. Subbed!
Yep, 36" in blue. The easiest way to tell the difference is how much the fingerboard overlaps with the body.

Which guitar your dreaming of? For me, it's gibson hummingbird custom koa

Did you ever lower the action? If so, how did that work out?
Keep a look out for videos in the coming weeks
Please hurry. This is something I need to do and am pretty clueless. 🙃
Hello. Can you tell me the strings spacing (Distance between 1st-6th string at the saddle and Nut).
Hey! Thanks for your comment. I'm afraid a friend of mine has borrowed the guitar for a few weeks so I can't measure it right now. I'll get it back and let you know as soon as I can
@@leetownsend Thanks for the quick reply!
Is that the 36 inch model?
Correct
any good for a beginner?
Perfect for a beginner
Lava me = wash me in Portuguese 😂
😂 I hadn't even thought of that!

Falam muito e tocam pouco.
Há muitos vídeos no UA-cam que demonstram como a guitarra soa. Meu vídeo foi destinado a explicar o que o instrumento pode fazer.
Bro would you give it to me 🥲🥲 I love it but I'm not financially strong enough to buy it 🥲
