Another incredible presentation! Charles, you are spoiling us! As an 8-year-old boy in 1956, I remember a neighbor bringing this Olds home. I was awestruck. Luckily, my father drove up our drive with an even more stunning car...a '56 DeSoto Firedome V-8 Seville. Yes, a Hemi... and 6 amazing tailights!

My father owned one that he bought in the far Southside of Chicago. He bought it at el Martinos oldsmobile. He later on bought a '72 Caddy coupe deville from Dred Williamson Cadillac. When I was little I sat on that little seat (arm rest) olive green car with white top 472 motor. Boy I miss my Dad, worked in the steel mill called Valley Mould 4 30 years to take care of us. 😪 his other car was a '62 olds starfire l, they sold him a lemon

Well done buddy! Have to mention the two raised ‘Contrails’ from the wingtips of the jet fighter on the bonnet (or should I say ‘hood’), amazing ‘50’s styling....... and you gotta love the beautiful ‘pebble’ cloth on the interior. Oldsmobilty (I agree!) Back when craftsmanship + pride in attention to detail was KING! As a kid, I'd got auto salvage yards to collect wheel covers & ornaments. It took me 4 ever to remove one of those jets off an Oldsmobile, only to be told (You can't have that one son, it's to valuable!) LOL! This was in the late 1970's. I did wind up with some nice stuff though.

my grandpa had a '56 Olds Super 88 Holiday 2door, back in the early 60's, and I remember sitting in the front seat mesmerized by the oval shaped clock and the chrome concentric rings emanating out from it, like waves of water. the whole dashboard was the most fascinating thing to my star-struck 5 year old mind. such style back then, and real chrome.

'56 Olds is one of several cars from 1956 that I have always admired. It was a great year for American cars: AMC Rebel V8, all the Chrysler products, the Imperial, New Yorker and 300. Mercury and Ford Victoria were great. Of course, the Continental Mark II; the '56 Lincoln really hit the sweet spot between '55 and '57 (too long!) I do love to reminisce about the 50's and 60's cars! Thanks again.

Grew up with a '56 Rocket 88 Holiday Sedan (4 dr hardtop, like this) in light blue/dark blue two tone. The original upholstery fabric wore out after two years.
The 88 had crank windows. Same dash, but without the signal seeking radio or light sensor for the auto dim high beams. Ours also didn't have the back up lights, so there were metal dishes where those would go.

Appearance is a matter of taste. But in technical-mechanical aspect, the Oldsmobile, Buick and Cadillac cars were far superior to the Chevrolet. Especially the car in this video is very fully equipped. It even has an autronic eye, a device that lowers the lights at night when a vehicle came from the opposite direction.
My father had a 1952-98, a 1955-98, and a 1962-98. Ford or Chevrolet cars had nothing to do against an Olds in acceleration, in maximum speed, in general equipment. Buick and Cadillac cars were even better.
I never understood why GM phased out the Oldsmobile brand in the late 1990s.
