I still miss seeing Nimoy as Spock. The man WAS Vulcan personified. “In Search Of..” was pretty good, and I’m probably one of a handful of fans that enjoy ST: TAS.
Filmation -- the bargain basement boys of animation -- did great with the storytelling end of ST: TAS. The episode "The Magicks Megus-Tu" was rather subversive for the time and pushed me, 13 years old then, further away from organized religion -- in a good way.
I fell in love with Mr. Spock when I was 11, back in 1968... There are pictures of me with my Vulcan haircut, trying as hard as I can not to smile for the camera...I love his qualities, and he was really the best character on Star Trek. 🖖LLAP!
I love that Leonard Nimoy did that for his friends. I'm not surprised though I have only wonderful memories about him even when I see him sign that silly song Ballot Of Billbo Baggins. My favorite TV appearance of his besides S.T is when he was on an episode of Columbo.
I recently watched that episode of Columbo. Nimoy played murderous doctor. It looked like he was going to get away with it too. But at the last minute or maybe less, Columbo found the evidence to catch him.
I met both Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner at a convention when my son was about 7 years old. We stood in a long, long, long line to get autographs and I had a book by each of them to be signed. When we got to the pair Leonard signed Bill's book and Bill signed Leonard's book for me. They also took time to talk to my son and ask him how he was doing. Great people and a wonderful memory that my son and I still remember to this day. I saw William Shatner years later at another convention and he was still very friendly and approachable even with the huge crowd waiting to see him.
Leonard Nimoy was always very loyal to those he worked with. When made his directorial debut on the Night Gallery episode, he proposed they cast Lesley Ann Warren, whom he had just worked with on Mission Impossible. We still miss him to this day.
RIP to prolific and deeply creative Star Trek : TOS writer Dorothy C. (aka "D.C.") Fontana, who passed away at age 80 Dec.2, 2019. She was a very important part of "fleshing out" and help defining who and what the various lead characters were, especially so Spock. She was one of a few writers who made the great Sci-fi writer Harlan Ellison's story City On The Edge of Forever the excellent episode it was, and my personal favorite. To read about her, she was very prolific in screenwriting and polishing others works so as to make them screen worthy and she was one tough broad who didn't suffer male fools at a time when discrimination against female writers was very real in Hollywood (hence the gender ambiguous D.C. Fontana). Her writing was excellent.
I have so much respect for D.C. Fontana. Not only was she a creative force on Star Trek...but she was also involved with another one of my favorite programs, Land of the Lost.
Star Trek wouldn't have been what it is without DC Fontana. She was really a great SF writer. And despite being a woman, you don't see any of the current feminist distortions(like STD's Female Starfleet) in her work. City On the Edge of Forever is probably the best TOS episode ever, but Harlan Ellison being who he was, just HAD to make a big fuss about the changes that were made to his original text. To almost everyone else, the episode was just perfect.
I grew up basically without a father or anyone else to look up to. TV became my source of morality. I learned a lot of what I needed to know from Star Trek and other shows from this era (and yes, my mom too). I was absolutely crushed when Nimoy passed. I cried for days. I know it's Hollywood, but back then, heroes were heroes. Personified on the big (or small) screen. They are who we grew up with and they shaped many minds, for better or worse. Spock was an unforgettable character portrayed by an equally unforgettable actor...Leonard Nimoy. There can never be a replacement.
Leonard Nimoy was a ''class act''. He was loyal to the core and placed principle over profit every time.Leonard was a gentleman and I feel blessed to have watched his craft along with his shipmates on the starship Enterprise.
As a child I would (try) mirror my behavior as a logical Spock with no emotions. I didn't realize it at the time but that was my way of trying to hide the pain of living with an alcoholic parent.
You were not the only child to employ that approach! Sometimes, I even DARED to think using logic & reason could even get adults to stop their self-destructive behavior! But Jedi Mind Tricks are no match for generational co-dependency!
asdfasdfasdf I, too, wanted to be just like Spock! Bless your heart! He was so Dependable, steadfast, self-sacrificing, loyal and faithful! I loved and still love him! Unlike you, I was blessed with loving parents... God bless you, dear! 🖖LLAP
Spock is my absolute favorite character in the Star Trek universe. The conflict between the logical and emotional sides of his being is something I identify with. Nimoy will forever be Spock. Thanks for a great tribute.
Well I think Leonard Nimoy was more human than Shatner who is a big kid and was sometimes jelous of the popularity of Spock, I like both, but Nimoy was better director and person with the rest of the cast.
I watched the original Star Trek in the 60’s with my family. My dad loved it and it was great family time. My youngest son watched all the other Star Trek shows and continues to do so with his 2 girls! We owe a debt of gratitude to Lucille Ball and Desilou for giving this show a chance. The rest as they say is history!
The animated series doesn't get enough love. It taught us much about Vulcan, gave us new tribbles, and even managed to borrow from the fiction of master writer Larry Niven. It was also so much freer to give us truly exotic aliens. Nonetheless, it was great to hang on to the rest of the cast. Uhura got to run the Enterprise (when all the men, under an alien presence, were acting goofy), and it was great to hear Sulu's distinctive voice. Also, as much as the show gets summed up as Kirk-Spock-McCoy, you keep hearing about so many people who grew up to tackle engineering because they were inspired by Scotty. In fact, that makes Trek truly unique among fandoms. Everywhere else, you see people dressing up to honor some movie or show, but so many Trekkers wanted to actually BUILD the world of Trek in our reality -- and went a long way to that, too. (If I ever get a cellular, I want an old flip phone just so I can pretend I'm saying "Kirk to Enterprise" -- heck, as a kid I loved pretending to do that with just my wallet.) I Am Not Spock is a wonderful inside look at Trek and confirms that Roddenberry himself never really "got" Vulcans, he saw them as a running gag, a foil always meant to lose to human emotion and derring-do, but Nimoy went a long way to inventing their world and giving them their own dignity. Hey, I could go on, but the main thing is that Nimoy was a trouper, having survived Zombies of the Stratosphere, or played a kind of sinister prequel to Spock in The Brain Eaters, and I think that taught him, Ya always gotta look out for the actors. And when that comes to Trek, that's nearly everything.
Nimoy was a fantastic actor with exceptional range! If he had not been cast as Spock he still would have had a very full and “storied” career, but most of us probably wouldn’t know him.
"Logical" and "illogical" became my two favorite words lol. It was indeed a nice thing Mr. Nimoy did. As much as I liked the whole cast though Uhura was my favorite. Always liked that she was so calm and in control. Okay and really gorgeous too!!! I will always be a fan of this show.
Dave Sundstrom I had heard that the first interracial kiss on TV was when Kirk was forced to kiss Uhura in the episode “Plato’s Stepchildren.” Welllll, I Googled my query, and: “In the "Plato's Stepchildren" episode of Star Trek: The Original Series, first broadcast November 22, 1968, Uhura and Captain Kirk kiss. The episode is popularly cited as the first example of a scripted interracial kiss on United States television, although other previous instances have since come to light.” And: “TV's 'first' interracial kiss Nichelle Nichols and William Shatner embrace in what is widely credited as America's first interracial kiss on TV. The footage was found in the BFI's National Archive during research for an upcoming event on race and romance in television.Nov 20, 2015” And: “A 1968 episode of Star Trek, "Plato's Stepchildren", which first aired on November 22, 1968, is often referred to as the first interracial kiss on American television. ... An even earlier interracial kiss, between two women, took place in the episode "What are Little Girls Made Of?", aired on October 20, 1966. en.m.wikipedia.org › wiki First interracial kiss on television - Wikipedia”
@@carolynnunes3922 Thank you Carolyn! That's pretty interesting about the first interracial kisses. I remembered the episode when Kirk kissed Uhura. I'm going to order the series on DVD soon. Peace! ✌
In my opinion Spock is the greatest tv character ever created. No other fictional character is as great as Spock. I think J.R. Ewing is a close second but Spock is completely unique. I think it had something to do with Leonard Nimoy. His soul came through. I was also always obsessed with " In search of". I am happy Zachary Quinto is keeping Leonards legacy alive. Thanks Dave.
You're welcome, Cindy! Totally agree about Mr. Spock being one of the greatest fictional characters ever. My top 3 are: Batman, Mr. Spock and Sherlock Holmes.
I was the same, I read the Alan Dean Foster books over and over and I also still have my paperback copy of Splinter of the Minds Eye that I got back in 78. I have had to pleasure of meeting Mr Nimoy on 3 separate occasions at different Star Trek conventions or Comincons. I had him and the entire cast (except Deforest Kelly who had passed) sign my extended version copy of Star Trek: The Motion picture at a Star Trek convention in the early 2000's in Los Angeles, that was one of the highlights of any convention I have attended.
My favorite production with Leonard Nimoy is the 1981 movie Vincent, in which he is Theo Van Gogh. He carries the entire production beautifully. As much as I loved Spock and Paris, I adored his rendition of Theo. What a marvelous actor Leonard Nimoy was. He is sorely missed.
Thank you for this wonderful article He also did a kindness for mr Kelley He got him a better rate for one of the first movies they made later May they all rest in piece Spock Bones and Scotty All my heroes. Live long and Prosper
Really liked this. Really touching that Mr. Nimoy stood up for his castmates like that. Of course I loved the character of Spock just as so many did and I really enjoyed In Search Of as well. He was also fab in Invasion of the Body Snatchers in 1978. I remember being very pleasantly surprised as a child seeing him in that in the theater as a child with my parents! Very fond memories... Thanks so much, Dave. Live long and prosper, my friend!
Nimoy also played one of the slickest (and most stylish) villains on the classic Columbo series. Speaking of books, there is a recent (?) children's book about his life that is beautifully done. And, no, after learning about his life, I am not at all surprised that he stood up for his friends and coworkers.
my heart sank, when I heard that, leonard nimoy had passed away,it was like, I had lost a lifelong friend,I watch star trek almost every day if I can, spock was and always will be my best friend.
Yup, all around nice guy! The documentary directed (It think) by his son really showed how hard he would work to provide for his family. In one part, it was shown how he would fly out to do guest appearances at shopping malls and such to meet fans and then fly back to shoot more episodes the next day.
Some deep quality about "Startrek" brought about a very unusual feeling in me towards the characters of the series,in that they became my friends, and I really cared for them and their safety.
I loved "I am Spock." He wrote a very good, interesting book. Thank you for sharing what Nimoy did. I am sure that fans had much to do with the movies being produced, and "Next Generation." Star Trek was really very good science fiction from the first episode. It is all a kind of place that some of us would love to go live there, that universe, I mean.
Personally, I'm not a bit surprised. That's just the type of person he was. In fact, I read that he was in tears at the performance of the actor that played Dr. McCoy in the JJ Abrams Star Trek movies. His performance was so close to Deforest Kelly. Leonard Nimoy, the likes we shall never see again.
Another great video! No, I'm not surprised that Nimoy helped his friends. That was his greatest appeal as an actor and human being. He was real, and true and loyal. Further it felt like he was a member of the family. When he passed, everyone I knew was genuinely bereaved at his death. I still miss him. Thanks again, for your awesome stories.
Great video as always Dave Wow, such an example of how vastly times have changed, kids escape into other worlds was through a view finder then compared to today’s video games etc SO grateful for the simple times we were blessed to grow up in!
Personally, I am such a BIG FAN of nearly all things "Star Trek" and I have enjoyed this UA-cam video about the late legendary Leonard Nimoy. I still feel sad about his passing years ago, but his legacy will live on.
"Star Trek", "Star Wars", "Space 1999" - all of these I became a fan of because of my father. And for me, the character that did affect me the most was Mr. Spock - with a raised eyebrow for Capt. Kirk, a quick quip directed at "Bones" McCoy(usually turning his vitriol back at him), or even speaking the word "fascinating", Mr. Spock could redirect the quirkiness that was happening aboard the USS Enterprise. So it was second nature for Mr. Nimoy to stand up for his castmates as easily as Mr. Spock would stand up for his crewmates.
Well I learned today that if you type out “live long and prosper” and then tap the “🖖,” it will replace your typing! “LLAP” is Trekkie shorthand for the Vulcan greeting, “Live Long And Prosper.” 🖖LLAP!
Ann DownSouth The Vulcan salute is actually a hand gesture that rabbis do when they put the prayer shawl over their head while praying they raise both hands up in the Vulcan salute as they are praying to G_d. Being Jewish, Leonard Nimoy decided to do an ad lib., and use that hand gesture as a Vulcan salute at chest high...
Thanks again Dave for all of the little tidbits on our favorite childhood actors that we never knew or had forgotten, Leonard Nimoy was a class act he will always be remembered as Mr Spock even though he had many other accomplished film and television roles.
Leonard nimoy was great as Spock Dave Spock was my favorite from star trek then captain Kirk I own all 3 seasons of star trek the original series plus the star trek movie collection with Kirk and Spock I love them I always love the cartoon animated series of star trek as well it was great leanord nimoy I also loved him in the westerns to but he will always be remembered as Spock that character made him he is my dad's favorite character in star trek as well Dave my dad owned the Spock action figure when he was a kid there was a documentary on Netflix called for the love of Spock I havent watched it but looks interesting so yea Spock was great so was Leonard nimoy great video Dave classic stuff love it👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Cade Evans The Cage first pilot had Spock in it, but he smiled a lot! It was strange to see...Captain Pike’s first officer was Majel Barrett, nurse Chapel from the original series, only she’s got long thick dark hair. She acts like a Vuncan. Puke calls her “Number one.” It’s a great episode, and they incorporated Capt. Christopher Pike and his relationship with Spock in “the menagerie.” Spock risked his career out of loyalty and respect for Capt. Pike...
According to his second bio, Nimoy also stood up for his friend Martin Landau (ironically the first choice to portray Spock) by refusing to be used as leverage against him when offered a starring role on the already successful "Mission: Impossible". Dave, my I take the time here to thank you for pinning my comment on your Amos upload. I was under the weather and off line for a few days after posting it.
Norton Dumont And I want to thank you again for that great comment that inspired so many! I had made one minor comment, and I had notes waiting for me on that thread every morning for a week! And I didn't know what to say cz I hadn't watched the show, but I'll tell you that all those comments by people who liked your comment really inspired me to check it out very soon and see what I missed out on--at least those first 3 seasons. So thanks again. People back in the day probably didn't know who Homer was--and we still don't! --but the Iliad still took off. And ironically I told my daughters that that thread had become the freaking Iliad! So Author Author! Take a bow!
@Gera Brown Thank you so very much for your kind and inspiring words! When I finally got to check my post after three days I couldn't believe the number of responses!
I remember Splinter of The Mind’s Eye, It’s interesting that The Empire Strikes Back used a couple of scenes that were lifted from the novel, especially Luke crashing his X-Wing Fighter and the Luke/Vader lightsaber duel (although there was no mention of Luke and Vader having a father son relationship ship) as well as Vader having zero tolerance for failure from his Imperial underlings as when he memorably cut an Imperial governor in half with his lightsaber for botching a capture of Luke and company. Also as to Nimoy I always remember him from a memorable Twilight Zone episode that takes place in WW2 and also In Search Of And his role in the 1978 remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
I attended my cousin's daughter's Bat Mitzvah at Temple Israel in North Hollywood a few years ago. I was amazed - not surprised - at how many things in the synagogue were attributed to Leonard Nimoy. He put his money where his faith was - a man of great Jewish faith.
History Teacher Gone Rogue Yes, the Vulcan 🖖 greeting, Live Long and Prosper, was accompanied by the Jewish hand gesture🖖 used while praying! He was truly a man of faith. I still love Leonard Nimoy, and always shall! 🖖LLAP

Spock was my favorite character from Star Trek. I remembered watching the cartoon version of Star Trek this one of Spock’s childhood and even being picked on and even being bullied by other children. I felt that way, too when I was 6 years old that I was a so learner while growing up. I even kept trying to make friends with the kids in my own neighborhood. I did make some friends of just being myself. It was hard for me as a sweet and outgoing kid growing up. Even when I was in junior high that was the worst 2 years of my life and even awkward stages when I was 12 and 13 years old. Even liking my 2 cats a lot. Most of the kids that don’t know that I also liked dogs, too. I wish that I could go back and tell these 2 boys that bullied me and said that I do liked dogs also. That depends if the dog likes me or not. I will called them both stupid idiots for not asking that I liked dogs, too. I had neighbors with dogs and even petted a few of them w/o fear. In my late teens and early 20’s that I loved this one dog that used to lived next door to me. She did gave me a friendly bark at me when I called her name and said hi to her. It gave me a break to cuddled my 2 cats. Even this one guy that I became friends with because of his dog was a cute Beagle. The dog was so sweet and friendly. I do liked cats and dogs about the same. Don’t judge me that I do loved animals or not being afraid of certain creepy crawlers in critters. I’m just liked anybody else.
Rick, Thank you for taking the time to do this! Very nice and informative. I agree with a lot of the people who posted here, there are other shows Mr. Nimoy was on that were also great. I remember him guest starring on an episode of one of my favorite all time shows Perry Mason. It was nice to see him on the show but it is my only time when I did not like him on a show because his character turned out to be the bad guy and I thought it was a weak and unlikeable character in the episode. Leonard Nimoy was not only a good actor but also a smart actor and director. His choices in roles and projects to do are extremely good and stand the test of time. I would like to see some of his projects in reruns now. The original Mission Impossible and all of the In Search Of shows would be nice to see rebroadcast in their entirety and I think they would be as interesting and draw as large of a market share as they did when they were new. Thanks again Rick! And have a nice day!
Very good piece Dave ..I was a fan of star trek and the star trek movies..and thought Leonard Nimoy was a good actor and was underrated..I think he has become typcasted but will be remembered forever as Spock
Super job and a class act just like your other videos--great fun to watch! I lived during those years and remember following Mr. Nimoy in the 70s. I never missed an In Search Of or an animated Trekisode.
Yep, been there done that...I was born in '57 and remember watching the original series on a 19" B&W portable TV we had. I was allowed to stay up late on Fridays and Saturdays as well. And I have the "Mr. Spock's Music From Outer Space" album.
Brenda Krieger I came back here due to an awesome and amazing comment from Gera, and am continuing to give each commenter a “Live Long And Prosper” along with the Vulcan hand sign (being Jewish, it’s the rabbinical hand sign used when praying, and he incorporated it on the series)🖖 So, here it is! 🖖LLAP
I remember seeing him on Mission Impossible as Paris in reruns also. I think he did a show called in search of. I have loved all the star trek series, movies. I have just about all of them. I do not have the enhanced original series, I got it when it first came out and looks like the late 1960's series where the enhanced has CGI added to it. Still waiting for season three of Star Trek discovery.
I heard that Shatner was ridiculously jealous that Nimoy got WAY more fan mail than Shatner did. I’m probably in the minority that thinks Shatner did an excellent job as Captain Kirk. Nimoy did an EPIC job as Spock, so Shatner had some tough competition. Shatner’s mistake was worrying about his own career instead of putting that energy into the show. A BIG reason Arnold Schwarzenegger is a huge star is that Arnold puts EVERYTHING he has into EVERY role - regardless of how silly that role might be. Directors can TOTALLY count on Arnold. Nimoy did the same - he put EVERYTHING into every role he ever got. Nimoy was worried about being typecast, but I think he realized that most actors would LOVE to have that “problem”.
1:45 : Ohhhh, "Night Gallery". I remember loving that show, and being scared to watch it at the same time (watching some episodes between my fingers! ^_^), Its been so long I can't remember the episode(s) that Leonard was in, but I'll check IMDB and dig them up myself later. 2:10 : Just like you, I couldn't wait to see that first episode! I remember watching the 'Saturday Morning Preview' show the previous night (they did things like that back in the day ^_^), and barely being able to sleep, waiting for the morning and the show to air. Oh, if only I could recapture that youthful exuberance one more day ^_^ I never did have that viewmaster you had, but "Yesteryear" was always my favorite episode (with "The Slaver Weapon" a close second, and it was only years later, when I was in college, that I found out that the latter story was adapted from a Larry Niven story called "The Soft Weapon"). Again, like you, I read all those "Log Books" adaptations.....wonder if I can find any of them on Amazon....time to check ^_^ On "I Am Not Spock": I've got to admit, that book (even though I never read it), put a bit of a guilt trip on me. I somehow felt personally responsible for his lack of ability to find more work outside of Trek. It was as if my like of him as this one character made everyone say "We can't hire him! He can only play Spock!" ^_^ I have heard this story before, and it is nice to hear how strong the friendship was between the cast of The Original Series (even after the Prima Donna escapades of Shatner ^_^).
Chup Smith My favorite episode was with the Horta, titled “The Devil in the Dark.” I never fail to get the chills when Spock mind melds with the last Horta, and he cries out, “PAIN! Pain! It is the end of life...” once again, Spock saves the day! “Damn it Jim! I’m a doctor, not a bricklayer!” Dr. McCoy at his best, too! May you Live Long, and Prosper🖖LLAP!
He is the best. I have that book I AM SPOCK‼️Actually more than one‼️I had wondered about the Animated show⁉️ Thank you Dave‼️You and yours have a great one ❣️❣️❣️❣️‼️‼️
Thelma Knowler coming around again, I have to share with you that you’re a big giant red exclamation points reminded me of one of my favorite “Peanuts” cartoons. It was Charlie Brown writing a letter to his penpal, and he had just learned how to write question marks at school that day, and his whole letter was filled with question marks...thanks for making me laugh! Dear ? Penpal,? Today? In school, ? We learned???? how to draw ??? ???question?? marks... Again, 🖖 Live Long and Prosper!
Damn Hot Chick 😲😳🤔😂🤣I had heard that Shatner used to count how many lines he would have in each episode, and that he was always so jealous of Leonard and the amount of fan mail he got. I loved and still love Mr. Spock! 🖖LLAP
I have to agree. Nimoy was perfect for the role of Spock. His devotion to his fellow castmates is admirable. Honestly , I didn't recognize him on In Search Of without his makeup even though his voice was familiar. Didn't even know he was on Mission Impossible til I saw the episodes and he was great. My favorite Star Trek movie is the Fourth One which highlighted Nimoy's ability as a Comedic Director.
ecayari My favorite movie, too! “Wrath of Khan” was a close second. My favorite episode of Star Trek is “The Devil in the Dark.” Spock’s mind meld with the last Horta still gives me chills every time I see it! 🖖LLAP
Exceptional! You went where few could go in just 7 minutes! I remember seeing Leonard in a British Movie of the Week on ABC in 1972 or '73. He was a psychic mystery-solver and was always smiling, as was the perky Susan Hampshire who assisted him and was an interest, I think. God, how I wished that would become a series! But it didn't. I think it was called "Baffled". Only Nimoy vehicle where he smiled a lot. I was also a fan of the animated series. I have the DVDs. Thanks.
Gera Brown Thank you so much for taking the time to explain about Amos. My best friend’s favorite dyn-o-mite show was “Good Times!” She has a crush on John Amos, so I should have made the connection and didn’t...you are kind! God bless you!
Renee Minicozzi She was so ahead of her time, which is why she only used her initials, not wanting to deal with how difficult being a woman writer in sci-fi was back in the day... I am saddened to hear of her passing. Thank you for providing us with this! God bless you, and 🖖LLAP
I can understand hating to be typecast from an actors perspective, but I think it's a wonderful thing. To ace a character so well that it transcends time... I'd take it.
Saw an episode of the Carol Burnett Show from 1967 Leonard did a cameo dressed as Spock. Carol thanked him for coming on her show and mentioned him being on Star Trek
@@jdsundstrom I didn't know this existed until Decades tv started airing hour episodes of Carol's show going back to her premier in 1967. One mistake she made was her last season when she made Dick Van Dyke a regular. It did not work because he is not a second banana like Harvey Korman was. It would've been as if she made Andy Griffith a regular. He was also not a second banana
Since Queen Elizabeth passed today Dave in one of another early Carol Burnett Show Carol did a musical sketch called The Queen Elizabeth Show where Carol as the Queen did comedy sketches and musical numbers. The monarchy let either Carol or CBS know the did not appreciate the Queen being made fun of so Carol never did that again. Sort of. Some years later she did a sketch called The King and Queen. It was her as the Queen Harvey Korman as the King and Tim Conway as a soldier named Private Newbery. They did not say they were doing the royal family but Carol's imitation sounded like her. In one sketch they said the country was Freedonia. You may remember these sketches
I attended a comic-con outside Ft. Benning in 1987. James Doohan, DeForest Kelly and George Takei were there. They had nothing but praise for Leonard Nimoy. They did however avoid any good or bad comments about William Shatner. If they did say anything, it was always very bland and innocuous.
I still miss seeing Nimoy as Spock. The man WAS Vulcan personified. “In Search Of..” was pretty good, and I’m probably one of a handful of fans that enjoy ST: TAS.
Sheesh! I should have mentioned "In Search Of..."! Those episodes about Bigfoot and UFOs gave me some great nightmares!

I tried watching that video but I couldn't as it made me cringe in embarrassment (For Nimoy) and hour.
That is a great story, KitUSA! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for sharing, iamMWH! I truly enjoyed reading your comment.
Leonard Nimoy was a ''class act''. He was loyal to the core and placed principle over profit every time.Leonard was a gentleman and I feel blessed to have watched his craft along with his shipmates on the starship Enterprise.
Nimoy was in so many westerns. I watch Star Trek every night

Leonard Nimoy was always such an honorable guy.
Totally agree, David!
Leonard Nimoy is absolutely and always will be Mr Spock! And we all LOVE him! 😁
Well I think Leonard Nimoy was more human than Shatner who is a big kid and was sometimes jelous of the popularity of Spock, I like both, but Nimoy was better director and person with the rest of the cast.
The whole mess of "Guardian of Forever" started when Shatner noticed that Nimoy had one more speaking line than he did on the original script.
Not surprised at all about the good & noble deeds of Leonard Nimoy. RIP.

William Blake Hall Wow! Inspired comment, brother! Thank you for sharing!

Dave Sundstrom I had heard that the first interracial kiss on TV was when Kirk was forced to kiss Uhura in the episode “Plato’s Stepchildren.”
Welllll, I Googled my query, and:
“In the "Plato's Stepchildren" episode of Star Trek: The Original Series, first broadcast November 22, 1968, Uhura and Captain Kirk kiss. The episode is popularly cited as the first example of a scripted interracial kiss on United States television, although other previous instances have since come to light.”
And:
“TV's 'first' interracial kiss
Nichelle Nichols and William Shatner embrace in what is widely credited as America's first interracial kiss on TV. The footage was found in the BFI's National Archive during research for an upcoming event on race and romance in television.Nov 20, 2015”
And:
“A 1968 episode of Star Trek, "Plato's Stepchildren", which first aired on November 22, 1968, is often referred to as the first interracial kiss on American television. ... An even earlier interracial kiss, between two women, took place in the episode "What are Little Girls Made Of?", aired on October 20, 1966.

Leonard Nimoy was not only a great actor...he was a great man as well.

I missed out on Star Trek TOS, but LOVED "In Search Of"!! Mr. Nimoy could make anything sound intelligent.

Puke calls her “Number one.” It’s a great episode, and they incorporated Capt. Nimoy was great in the film Invasion of the body snatchers (1978)
I remember Splinter of The Mind’s Eye, It’s interesting that The Empire Strikes Back used a couple of scenes that were lifted from the novel, especially Luke crashing
his X-Wing Fighter and the Luke/Vader lightsaber duel (although there was no mention of Luke and Vader having a father son relationship ship) as well as Vader having zero tolerance for failure from his Imperial underlings as when he memorably cut an Imperial governor in half with his lightsaber for botching a capture of Luke and company.

Very nice and informative. I agree with a lot of the people who posted here, there are other shows Mr. Nimoy was on that were also great.

Renee Minicozzi She was so ahead of her time, which is why she only used her initials, not wanting to deal with how difficult being a woman writer in sci-fi was back in the day...
I am saddened to hear of her passing. Thank you for providing us with this!
God bless you, and 🖖LLAP
LN hosted a show called "In Search Of" that I enjoyed watching.

Very cool! I think I've seen a still image from that appearance.
Fascinating.
...as always. Thanks very much Dave.
Love it! You're welcome, Jonathan.
I forgot alllll abouttt the view master! Wow jog a memory.
Remember the I am not spoke book, miss Mr Spock he has been and always shall be our friend.
That sounds like quite a comic-con, Chris!
Spock: "I lack surprise . . . most of the time".
Nice shout out for Alan Dean Foster...his Spellsinger series are to this day one of my favourite fun reads. I love that guy.
