Fun fact: The guy in the opening scenes who gets bitten is Bill Ralston, who at the time was a political journalist well known on New Zealand television.
Oh I LOVE Braindead!!! Peter Jackson’s 1994 film Heavenly Creatures is amazing; based on real life events and is both Melanie Lynskey and Kate Winslet’s first film❤️
Fun video , loved your reactions . The camera shot you were talking about is called a Dolly Zoom , they move the canera closer to the person and tighten the focus as they move in , Hitchcock was one of the first to perfect it . Enjoying your videos , anything coming up for the Halloween season ?
Ah thank you now I know what to call them! 🙏🏻 I’m kind of winging my uploads at the moment so I’ve got some ideas floating around but no set schedule. I’d like to do a ranking of all the horror remakes of the early 2000s soon but there are a few more movies I have to see before I do that. Thanks so much for watching 😄
@@WhataGhoulWantsSounds like a great idea that will spark some conversations in the comments . There are some good , some okay and some terrible remakes available , it will be interesting to see what you think about them . Looking forward to seeing it .
I remember when I saw BRAINDEAD, I was about 7 or 8 years-old, so you have to imagine how terrifying that was for me in that time. Besides, when Peter Jackson made this movie, it was a time where he lived at his mother's home, while investing his movie himself.
A couple other early Peter Jackson films that are must see are Heavenly Creatures and Forgotten Silver. Heavenly Creatures is Kate Winslets' first film and a spooky/surreal true crime story. Honestly, you got to see it to believe it, and it really happened! Forgotten Silver is a mockumentary that aired on New Zealand public television and, like Orson Welles famous War of the World's, fooled the entire country. It's really one of his most inventive films. It can be found on UA-cam, the dvd is probably out of print, rare to begin with, and expensive.
Ha ha, you are the low key queen of one liners :D People SHOULD dress up to go to the zoo! I see the monkeys at my zoo judging all the slobs walking around in their Hawaiian shirts and what not. Good to see you again Anna, you should do a livestream again sometime! Later!
Hi Anna. I saw this movie when it came out in 1992. It was called Dead Alive when I saw it. I liked it. I remember that it was banned in many countries for being too gory. Great reaction. Take care
Your other commenter is close. The shot is called a Zolly, dolly zoom, trombone shot, Vertigo shot, push-pull, and probably some others. It involves using a Zoom lens and a contrasting camera movement. So zoom in/dolly out or zoom out/dolly in. The zoom affects the depth of field while the camera actually moves closer to or farther away from the subject. This means that the background can look like it's coming closer while the foreground moves away, or vice versa. Hitchcock's Vertigo and the Jaws Kintner scene are probably the two most famous versions, but Tobe Hooper uses it really effectively in Poltergeist, and Jackson uses it again in The Fellowship of the Ring.
i hate peter jackson's earlier films, his style BOTHERS me. i can appreciate the gore, especially at the end of this one, but that's it. anyways...still a great video Anna lol :)
Always liked Bad Taste more, Peter Jackson is great as a chainsaw wielding alien killing maniac. Meet the Feebles is just terrible low budget puppet nonsens.
The last 30 minutes of this movie is the greatest 30 minutes of any movie ever. It's nonstop creativity on camera.

Oooo I’ll definitely have to check that one out soon! Thanks for watching 😄

focus or field of view?
@@WhataGhoulWants Yes, Dolly Zoom. For short, they're often called "Zolly" shots.
Wow I've never seen this movie hut it looks wild haha. Great reaction video Anna!
Omg I definitely recommend it! I’d love to hear your thoughts if you do watch it 😄 thank you so much!
There are three different versions, the original 104 minute version, the 97 minute unrated version and the 85 minute r-rated version.
This Movie Couldn't Have Been Summed Up Any More Perfectly Just From It's Title Alone😂
Haha right??

This movie is a masterpiece! I wish it got more love.

Oh wow those both sound super interesting, I’ll definitely have to check them out thanks for the recommendations! 😄
I just love how silly and over-the-top this movie is! It is truly a movie that has been "Kicking ass for the Lord!" since 1992 🤣
I have such a small pocket for this film in my heart, this was such an entertaining watch 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Aw thank you! I was so pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it, it really is something special ❤

Aw thanks Tom! Haha not the judgmental monkeys 🤣 I really do need to do a live soon, gotta find a good day to do it!
This was my favorite movie when I was a kid.
It gets so absolutely over the top, that the disturbing gore turns into just pure comedy.

So cool that you saw it when it premiered! Thanks for watching 😄

"party's over". Great movie. I hope you get to watching bad taste, meet the feebles and the Frighteners when you get the chance.
Thanks for watching! 😄
One of my favorites
The custard scene made me gag the first time I watched this movie. But, I love this film to my very core.
In my top 5 favourite horror movies of all time. This was fun to watch, thanks :)
I love this movie so freakin much!
I really enjoyed it! ❤
It is set in the late 1950s.
This is one of the goriest zombie movies ever. Great reaction to this insanely gory zombie flick.
If you enjoy horror/comedy try Peter Jackson's film 'The Frighteners', with Michael J Fox. It's very under-rated!
You should see Bad Tastes, it was thoroughly enjoyable. I think you would like it.
For sure I’ll definitely try to watch it soon!

I can definitely see how it wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea haha, thanks for watching despite that 😄
A cult classic.Another gore fest is Adam Chaplain,if you've seen that.
I haven’t I’ll have to check it out!
ever see dellamorte dellamore? not anywhere near as disgusting but was my go-to bizarre/gross zombie movie in another life
No I haven’t seen that one! I’ll keep it in mind, thanks for the recommendation 😄

It's such a Weird ass movie
Peter Jackson did more then get back. what?
