This one is extra special to watch in my book. I've known EJ since he was a toddler...literally weighing barely more than the bowling ball and using every ounce of his strength to toss it down the lane with both hands. That kid bowled from the time they walked in until they closed the center at night. I started my bowling career in the same center that the Tackett's ultimately purchaed in Huntington. I'm only a few years older, but it's truly been a pleasure to watch EJ evolve into the phenom he is today. I can't remember a time I was practicing that EJ wasn't...he has ALWAYS been dedicated to this game and he's earned every ounce of his success. I was lucky enough to be part of the first year of Indiana High School bowling and our Huntington North teams quickly became a dominant force...I think we still have the most state championships than any other school in the state. After EJ's Dad took over the program, he asked me to help coach the girl's team and EJ was always more than willing to take time out to help our kids. This was at the same time he was competing for Team USA and the world was finally seeing EJ for the future hall of famer he is, but he remained the same humble, helpful guy I've always known him to be. Channels like this are what we need more of because I believe it's important for fans to really get to know the bowlers they admire. Some are very different from what you see on TV, but EJ is exactly who he shows us he is. Whether he's on a Major telecast or back at EZ lanes helping high school bowlers with their game, you get the same guy. I realize I'm biased, but I can't help but feel his titles are an innacururate representation of EJ's success & contributions to our sport.
Thank you for doing this segment! Also, thank you to EJ for representing our hometown with class & maintaining your integrity every step of the way Proud of you always!🖤🎳❤🎳🖤
Fun Fact: I still cry every time I see the video of EJ jumping into his Dad's arms after winning the World Championships in 2016. What most people don't know is what Ed had to go through to even get there...and almost didn't! He left during our high school match to catch a plane at the last minute & luckily made it through several layovers. Without even time to change clothes, he got there after the show had already started. That leap into Ed's arms was the culmination of everything EJ worked so hard for and a perfect ending!😍

Honestly, this was more enjoyable to me than watching an actual pba finals show, at least the dialogue and scenes of E.J in the alley. I think this material is more valuable to watch and more relatable in a tournament setting. Love it.

Thanks to EJ for doing this! Great insight into the mind of a great bowler. The struggles that happen to even the best of pros, the highs and lows. The battle out there is as much mental as physical, since the bowler knows too many slips ups will cost him dearly. I've become a fan of EJ Tackett now. Even though the results weren't there (and lets face it - his goals are so much higher than many of the pros out there), he battled to the best of his ability. There will be much greater days ahead. He's proven that by the success he's had in his career.

Pardon the projection of an old guy who's been back in the sport for a year now, but EJ's comment on the young up and coming stars of the future rings true. From my perspective, having grown up bowling in the 1970's, score expectations and all were entirely different. I just don't understand how present day bowlers can be so casual about scores that would have been nearly unthinkable for even the best of bowlers save for the rare once in a lifetime.. or twice in a lifetime happening. Now it's all so expected, and boring, and run of the mill. Younger bowlers are so media savvy, so couple that with top notch training and suddenly nothing is intimidating to them. Does this mean it loses its wonder as well? Oh, and you were right today. This is a fantastic piece of work. Contrary to what you were saying, I have a feeling there's a lot more in store that will be just as good. You have such an ability to get out of the way and let the story unfold.

Hope he starts winning more majors again, he’s so talented but there are a lot of great bowlers too.

Jim Stefanich tried the seniors tour in golf and I remember seeing him on tv so he made at least one cut. Me and Mika Koivuniemi know how to putt but neither one of us can golf.

It's crazy how much power he can generate with a small frame

Even crazier is how he used to throw 16# balls…

I laugh at this because I do the same thing. When I throw a good ball and get single pins lol. This is awesome
