This. Spent 60 mins jumping from Stack post from another looking for a quick answer, then decided that fuck it let's watch it the slow way and maybe actually learn something.
This was the video that made Regex go from “I hate Regex” to, “I like Regex!” Still working on my Regex skills but I feel confident of solving scenarios to a high standard now.
I was in bad mood today , when i opened chrome browser today i saw a pop up that Coery uploaded a video about Regular expressions , I took a moment and realized that this is the area i am week . Started watching and as well as practicing , once the video is completed I felt it was awesome . I literally tried out the examples by pausing the video . I would like to thank you a lot , for sharing this knowledge. Have a great Day
Hands down, the best instructor I've ever watched ... as a student, I have never seen an instructor who is so precise, concise and yet so easy to understand, hats off to you Corey.
This is the best tutorial on regular expression I found online so far. I really like how you build up the knowledge gradually and provide real world examples. This tutorial is consistent with your great Udemy classes. Thank you Corey.
I didn't realize there was a better teacher than you in this world. I love how you've managed to gradually build my knowledge from zero to hero. Thanks to you, I can now read almost any regex thrown at me. I'm watching this six years later after the upload, and it is still the best regex explanation I could ever hope for. Thank you so much, man!!!
Corey Schafer. You rock dude! I have been programming/managing projects/troubleshooting stuff for 18 years. I have never really learned Regex or even tried. They just bamboozled me. This one tutorial blew my mind away. BEST tutorial for REGEX ever!! Thanks
Thanks, I watched the whole video over the course of 2 days, taking diligent notes and got nearly a 100% on my regex test. I completely understand regex now!
To be honest, I have tried to learn regex for the past 6 years, without actually managing to do so. For the first time, I have managed to create regex to the email part. Prior you showing how to do, I paused the video and tried it myself. And guess what? I managed it! Much appreciated for the simple way of explaining!
i was unable to learn regex from my college days . now i am a software engineer and regex is being used in projects. situation was very horrible for me. but suddenly i saw this video on youtube, i learnt regex very well ,also got confidence . i am very happy and subscribed this channel. Thankyou so much sir.
I have been battling with various REGEX EXPRESSIONS for about three years now, and used to get help on forums for each query I needed. I wish that after they solved my query, that they also pointed me to this video, it would have sped up my complete wisdom of REGEX exponentially. Thank you for this video, it has opened a new world for me.
This is perhaps the best video one can ever find on the internet to learn regular expressions. Everything is described in detail and in a way that people can understand clearly. Hats off to you. Thanks a lot for making this video!
This was the best ever explanation of regex! The presenter is very glib and succinct. Never heard him use "um", "er" or other regular expressions folks do during presentations or conversations. Not only you adroit in your field but a phenomenal teacher -the last of a kind. Very much liked, understood regex, and subscribed. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
Todo continue 4:30 special regex characters 6:40 word boundary and positions 19:00 0 or more, one or more and exact number of repetitions 22:30 groups 31:15 using groups for capturing
I know everyone in the comments is echoing this same sentiment, but I have to say this really is the best introduction into regular expressions I have seen online. Most tutorials throw you into regular expressions without explaining the basics. This is great!
You sir have a gift. Same with the git tutorial, you literally upload your knowledge to my brain. Your voice as well is spot on. Quadruple thumbs up!!!!
An engineering manager of mine long ago was fond of saying, "Oh, yeah, the problem was solved using a regular expression. Now I have two problems!" ;-)
Great tutorial! People who are just starting out in programming, I have one tip for you. Whatever language you decide to learn, learn regular expressions basics on the side. You are going to run into them in the job environment.
I’ve put off learning regex forever since it just seemed so complicated but you did such a great job simplifying it. Can’t believe I was reluctant to learn for so long; thank you for the tutorial!
Best regex tutorial I've ever seen! Always feel grateful with your amazing tutorials. Thank you corey! Also hope to see advanced regex tutorial later :)
while searching for this topic, I came upon so many choices, didnt know which to choose, and couldnt believe my luck that I hit upon such a good video, which was generic and so well explained !
I am so glad that I found this page. The video was perfect without any doubt. Please do an advanced Regex video if possible. Your channel is amazing as well.
This is an excellent tutorial on the basics of regex ! I don't usually comment on YT videos unless I find a really solid tutorial. This is one of those rare cases. Thank you for explaining it, breaking it down and demystifying regex.
You're are blessing to all those trying to learn regular expression and I appreciate you one thousand percent for getting straight to the point without all the BS. I wish more videos demonstrated this same effort. I will try to drive more people to your youtube channel to get quality content like yours. I thank you for providing the files you used so we can watch & learn with you. Thank you for adding clarity to someone who's has been lost trying to read someone's script with minimal success. Keep up the great work and I will keep watching.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every time I go to a reg expression website I close it within 5 seconds and just give up, this video is great! Now I can tackle any reg expression documentation.
23:42 Note that some interpreters require that you write (rs|r|s) instead of (r|s|rs), as they will stop at the first match (r) and thus never compare the characters to 'rs'.
I am a relative noob at programming in Python and even more noobesque with regexes, and this is the best explanation of regular expressions and their behaviors that I have found. Outstanding job!
Oh awesome! I've been watching your videos for about 3 months, since I started learning Python. Incredible stuff man. (I actually tried to set up a patreon but had some weird login issues with it) I've actually been struggling figuring out how to scrape phone numbers specifically so, this was dead on.
I FINALLY GOT IT!!! I always read the tutorials and don’t understand what the hell is going on. Even when I practice and try out the patterns I can’t figure it out. I would just give up and look for a ready made regex online. Now it seems so easy!! Thank you so much. Very clear explanation with good examples. Organized tutorial and straight to the point. Just perfect👌🏻

This is the best explanation and tutorial on Regex that I have ever seen. I always say things are only as complicated as the person teaching it wants to make it.
Dude, this video is so incredible. I watched at least 5 others and non of them explained so simply and clear as you did. I was trying to figure out regex all night for my program and you saved my life

This is really unfair to regular expressions, they are supposed to be difficult.
haha, yes bro. REGEX SHOULD BE DIFFICULT.....
so true.
@Roshane Johnson regex is like game of thrones
It still is for me. The examples are very basic. Try something more advanced and you will see.
Could not have put it better myself. I'm sure it gets harder but that was amazing
