    Had one of these made out of that white molded plastic, same design, bought it back in the late 80's. It handled everything, including my 235 lbs. Finally gave up just this spring. I'm going to have to convince myself to make one using your plan.

      @@jasonbailey9139 It's a classic design that's been around decades, if not longer. I don't believe either one of them invented it, only their individual takes, with the handle hole, etc., any more than a maker doing a video or selling plans on a bird house or saw horses is 'competing' with other makers. I don't think their friendship is in any danger from this.

    Sick build April. I need to build 3 for the family. I hate cheap camp chairs. You can cut the handle curve and rail curves with nothing but a chisel if you lack more advanced tools, the round overs can also be created with a spoke shave if you lack a router.

  • @nsuddeth91
    @nsuddeth91 Рік тому +1

    Absolutely love the chair design. I bought the plans and have made a couple of chairs so far. The only problem is, they are very time consuming to build when your looking to sell them. I cant bring myself to put a price tag less than at least $150 per chair, but in reality no one is going to want to spend that kind of money on a single yard chair. I think I'm going to try and adapt the design to use marine grade plywood for butt and back support pieces, so as to cut down on the tedious routing and sanding process that is required for the 20 slats. Nonetheless, the chairs are great

    Very nice take on this. Here in Kentucky we have been building these for over 100 years. I like your build with the wood choice because Kentucky people just build them out of two or more types of wood mostly oak or popular. The reason for this is because we might have to use them for fire wood during winter. Nice build though. Still a huge fan.

    I am curious what your inspiration was for this project. These were called camp chairs when I was a kid and were common. A few years ago I got plans from Jay Bates site and made three of my own. Like you I added the handle feature. I made one out of western red cedar, and two out of oak. The cedar one is light, the oak ones are more like furniture - surprisingly strong and heavy. I think I prefer your template design, as it is simpler.

    Hi April love the design and chair! Looking forward to making it.
    Silly 🙃 Question: do you happen to know how much weight it would hold?
    Thanks 🙏🏽

    Any plans to sale these pre made? Pairs for sets of 4?

      The Shipping would be detrimental. It's best if you build your own. Thanks for watching.
