  • Since having a baby it has been a long time since I've had the opportunity to work with Cole outside of the house. As silly as it sounds I actually really enjoy working with Cole! It's our way of spending time with one another and it brings us both joy! Therefore, having the morning to do something together out in a field was something to be enjoyed! Hope you all enjoy the vlog! Vámonos! ☺️
A special thank you to all those who have sent us a gift. It brings us such joy and it is an honor to recieve so much love from you all! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Wish we could reach back out to everyone. (Leave an email or instagram handle to receive a special thank you)

My daughter-in-law refused to let my wife and me ever take our grandkids anywhere without her in tow. "Her" parents could but not us. That's just one of many reasons she is now our "ex"-D-in-L. Take advantage of having grandparents keep the boy; they'll love you for it.

We're getting ready to have our 5 and 3-year old grandchildren, stay with us, while mom and dad are at the hospital, having their baby sister! My daughter didn't have us keep her first-born overnight, until he was 2-3. They dropped the second child off, when she was just an infant!! It's amazing how relaxed they get, once the second baby comes along....then the third....!!! LOL
They even bought us car seats, so we didn't have to keep switching them back and fourth! A few months ago, my husband was van shopping for them, and he ended up buying a used van, with the automatic door openers, because he said we needed more space, since there would be three now. Grandkids are the greatest gift God gives us! We can love on them, give them sweets, and return them when they get cranky......which ours never do!😂🤣

@@kristinhumphries2119 but it's her husband's child too. He should have had a say about them watching her, without mommy always being there. She's sounds like the one with the problem.....and her husband decided to end things, as far as we know, because of her unequal treatment of his family, and many other reasons, I'm sure.

No shucking needed. Invite a bunch of friends to Corn Fest! Put a wash tub full of water over a campfire, when it gets boiling, toss the unshucked corn into the water. Let them cook for 10 minutes or so and pull them and toss it on some cardboard or other clean surface. Take that corn and pull the husk off and they come off clean. In the meantime, you have had a one gallon jar of water by the fire with a 1 lb block of butter in it. Take the shucked ear of corn and dip it in the jar of water which now has the melted butter floating on top and when you pull out the ear of corn it is perfectly coated in butter. After eating the corn, toss the cobs, with the shucked leaves, to the cows, pigs, etc. If you have doggies, they will love grabbing the eaten corn cobs and gnawing on them for the butter. ❤

It's called THRESHING. People who thresh together are called THRESHERS. Farming communities used to help one another harvest crops. They'd thresh one farm and then move to the next to do the same. The men harvested while the wives cooked for them. The spreads they turned out were really something to behold. Lots of food for very hungry harvesters who were burning lots of calories while working in the fields. There was an old saying acquired from this time in agricultural history. A few people still use it as a hyperbole today when explaining a large spread. They said, "You could feed threshers." It means that there's massive amounts if food.

I planted enough sweet corn to supply my family but also my Mom and Dad my in-laws my brother’s family our Grandparents on both sides and my brother in law’s family. We would all get together after I finished chores and go pick 2 pickup trucks full and have a big party. When I was about 10, I helped my grandmother for weeks shucking corn and preparing it a few ways and filled an entire upright freezer. My great grandmother was living with us at that point due to her dementia and she got up one night and left the freezer open so ALL of it had to be thrown out! Mmmm. Your own frozen corn for winter. It's the best. I shuck, then blanch the corn, then throw it in a bucket of ice water, then cut the kernels off. Blanching brings the 'milk' into the kernels. It's not cooking, only tossing it into boiling water for probably less than a minute. Ice water stops the 'cooking' process. A lot of work. So worth it. Is Edward really pulling himself up already? He's so lucky he gets to grow up on a farm and probably learn how to build a little when the house gets worked on. Handsome Little Britches. 🙂🙃♥......Later....Oh, and I kind of think maybe my Mom may have put a little something else in the bags with the corn. I have to research that again. LOL.

So if you take some old plastic grocery bags and wade them up and stuff the opening of shoes or boots you don’t wear often it keeps dust, bugs & anything else from getting into them. Don’t put it over them because that doesn’t seal them but if you pack I’d grocery bags in then nothing can get in. My grandmother thought me that but she used newspaper. But it’s the same outcome. Amazon has some amazing sweet corn cutters to take kernals off the cob; we don't cook; just freeze couple cups per bag; works great!

When I was growing up, my Dad cut a board and hammered a nail through it. We would put the ear of corn on the nail. It made it a lot easier to cut the corn off the cob.

Well, I grew up on a sweet corn farm. How should I say this 🤔hmmmmm, oh I got it 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣! I picked corn 7 days a week from rhe middle of July until the frost. 5 dozen plus 5 ears in each gunny sack 25 to 30 sacks an hour. We didnt freeze corn, we ate it almost every day during the season.....that was enough.

Nave we also freeze sweet corn for winter. But we just cook an extra dozen ears each time we eat sweet corn in the summer. Then we freeze the excess. So not as much as you did. Question- do you plant sweet corn on the edges of some of your fields?

  • @blissful1689

Yes, that’s definitely a Mom thing feeling that pull between your feelings. Knowing you are being wise and balanced to take a few moments to yourself, yet being so in love with your baby that you also never want to be apart from them. It’s the consequence of having a piece of your heart grow arms, legs and that sweet little face and starts walking round on its own. 🥹 Parenting, is the toughest job you’ll ever love 🥰
“The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His face on you and give you peace.”
    ( Numbers 6:24-26)
