Hey Phil, try running that bead & egg setup opposite of how you have it. Run the eggs on top w/ the bead below. It works wonders. Also, try using a 14mm instead of a 20

I have another question: one of the places I go every year is in SE Alaska, fishing coho. The spots we go are slightly inland, either tidal mixes of fresh and salt water or straight freshwater less than a few miles from the salt. Point: they are aggressive. Most of us do just fine with spinners, but I’m always augmenting with different stuff to see if it can work as well. Haven’t done it with twitching jigs. One hole is quite large, and very deep. Probably 30 feet or so. It’s a bowl, and while we catch them on spinners, the ones we get there are likely just coming up towards the surface. My question is: what’s the deepest water you’ve twitched with? I’m interested in trying it at that particular hole. // This September I tried floating eggs. There are so many trout that it was impossible. I know, good problem to have (small trout there are over 14” lol), but you can’t keep the eggs on long enough for the coho to even possibly hit it.

OMG WOW I'd absolutely Loved that dam fish 🐟🐠 you caught , that's a beautiful coho fish . Boy I'd beat that fish was some good eating dinner lol of course it was. Teast everyone should have be eating best dinner or lunch even breakfast 🍳🥐 to eat is fish with eggs potatoes garlic 🧄 an other things go along eat with. That was grate wonderful video really happy 😁😊 to have seen it way too go .

Why don’t you guys like to twitch with casting rods?
i was told by a 20 year guide fishing big fish to sharpen your hooks right out the package and it works
Pretty lost on the twitching stuff. I’ve not caught anything yet doing it. Tried on lots of water conditions in the last couple months, at areas where I know fish were moving. Watched the videos. Marlin was working at (18:20…) at like one per second. I’ve been way slower than that, based on other videos. I have no clue what I’m doing. 😆 Other videos also noted that you want it hitting the bottom. But the water seemed deep. Then Jordan is hardly twitching with his left hand and not reeling. Catches one. Meh. I’m lost. 😂
I am not sure if there is an exact science. My 13-year-old boy was twitching in the bay about a month ago and caught six cohos. Now they were jumping all around us. He goes way high to low almost too much IMHO but he was killing it. Not sure if it was just the right spot. The following week he nailed 2 twitching. I tried several times with no luck at all, but hook one last year twitching in the river.
I think it’s all about the color and the drop, I have tried twitching for coho with almost no success, the 1st coho o caught was on a nightmare jig, but the rest of that season and the full season after I didn’t hook a single coho on jigs. I tried every day even bought a twitching okuma rod, and had lost hope in twitching and just learned how to swing spinners and drift and float fish beads. Then this year right at the beginning of a random opener, I talked to an old timer who showed me his specific setup for jigs, he uses hoochies instead because the fall differently. I copied him and preceded the catch 5 coho the next day. I used to be skeptical, but now I can say it works for me, at least hoochies do. I still don’t like traditional twitching jigs for coho even though I see other people catch fish on em, but I think hoochies are more cost effective anyways.
Let me tell you, coho barely bite this early. You’ll get some eventually, took me over 1 year to finally catch one, then i ended up catching over 30 fish over the rest of the season on jigs.

Im so sad!!!! I just got back from Washington on my fishing trip and somehow i went the whole trip without loosing anything untill the last day i lost my disco jig in the hood canal 😭 the first thing i picked out for the day and told myself when i got it to never loose it.... And what do i do 😭
