    Touted as the most compliant e-Bike rated handlebar on the market, OneUp Components new Carbon E-Bar is features some patented technology, neat integration, and for a limited time, has an exclusive Loam Wolf discount code! Use TLW20 at oneupcomponents.com.
    Now, if you’ve made it this far you’ll be happy to learn that just because these carbon handlebars are eBike rated, that doesn’t mean they won’t work just fine on your mountain bike. In fact, while creating this feature and interviewing the folks over at OneUp, we found out that Yeti / OneUp Components own EWS racer Richie Rude, chooses to run these bars on his race bike as he prefers the comfort and reduction in hand fatigue as it lets him push harder, longer.
    Starting out with the patented oval shape, the OneUp Component Carbon E-Bar has a distinct look that is different than traditional round bars. That tube profile is what gives the bar an incredible amount of vertical compliance but also keeps the bar feeling very precise and stiff front to back. If you think about a circular tube, it will flex 360 degrees. Any direction impact or energy is moving, a circle will move, the flattened profile will reduce the amount these bars from can move fore and aft, meaning you get the flex you want, and lose the vagueness where you don’t want it.
    OneUp Components claims the Carbon E-Bar is 20% more vertically compliant than their competitors carbon bars, 5% more compliant than their own handlebars, and offers a 28% increase to the fore and aft stiffness.
    Most bars have a 22mm diameter here around the bend. OneUp’s Carbon E-Bar tapers down to just 20mm, which gives it a pretty flat look compared to traditional bars.
    WHY CALL IT AN E-BIKE BAR THEN?
    Sure, it can and will be run by lots of discerning riders on non e-Bikes but in order for components to get an E-Rated certification, extra safety and durability standards have to be met. It costs more money for brands to get it, but it gives piece of mind to consumers knowing the products will last. The bars are also ASTM Cat 5 DH certified, just in case the stringent E-Bike rating wasn’t enough for you.
    Along with the certifications, the OneUp Carbon E-Bar is designed to reduce visible clutter and wires running around the front of your bike. A hole in the center of the bar rests between the stem’s faceplate (which means you’ll need an open stem, OneUp has those too) and there are also recessed slots with holes at either ends up the bars that will sit under the grips and allow exit for the wires to control power mode selection and Shimano Di2 wiring.
    It's not something you have to take advantage of, as you can see our bike didn’t need it with the AXS grouppo, yet we still love the ride quality and benefits of the E-Bar.

    Based on this video alone I purchased these bars for my 2018 YT Capra Aluminum 29er. The bike came with 800mm Race Face Turbine 35mm ride bars. I found my self having to run Ergon GA2 grips with palm support to take the discomfort away. I could never run traditional round grips comfortably regardless of how cushy. So installing the One Up E-Carbon bars I was blown away! I installed some Ergon GA2 round grips and was loving how comfortable the ride was. I could not believe how big of a difference these bars made. Thank you so much!

    I have these bars and absolutely love them. That said, they did not, for me, eliminate hand pain from late season brake bumps at a recent trip at the bike park (Angel Fire). I understand death-gripping, braking, grips, etc. all affect this but that was my experience after a few big park days with the bars. They are the best carbon bars I've tried (I disliked 35mm before them) and recommend them to everyone. *The compliance is real!

    Great run through which originally got me hooked to try out previously. Swapped out my Renthal Fat Bar Lite for the std One Up and rode Sedona for a week on my Yeti 130 LR. Noticeable difference. My wrists were less sore and less hand numbness. Ergon Factory Evo grips on all my bikes. I picked up another standard One Up Im going to try on my Turbo Levo Expert. ( The controller cable runs external anyway so slotted bar not needed) Running a Fat Bar on that currently. I will say coming off a stiff as a brick Renthal bar, and I do love that bar, the one up took some getting used too. But my wrists are much better for it. Looking forward to seeing how the std One Up performs w/ a 50 LB e bike. I think the other one up bar cut to 780mm is gonna stay on my yeti for next months sea otter enduro stages. Curious to hear from others on running one up on their e bikes. Ride On!

    Too bad the code did not work for the EU website. :) I am running their "normal" 20mm rise carbon handlebar version on 2 bikes right now and was thinking about getting another one for the hardtail. I used aluminium handlebars for a while and there is a very noticable different feeling with the carbon variant from oneup. It takes out a lot of the high frequency trail chatter that used to make my finger joints hurt pretty quickly. Paired with a couple of grips (in my case I tried out almost 10 different grips) and buttercups in the new ZEB, it really makes a lot of difference. It does not smoothen out the trail at all. As said, high frequency bumps, chatter and stuff is noticeable lighter on the hands, muscles and joints.

    I really wish they made these compatible with the Specialized e-bike cables...

    • @themuellers5384
      @themuellers5384 Рік тому

      They actually are comptaible, meaning the cable will fit. You just have to cut the original cable close (about 5-10cm) to the TCU-connector and reconnect the five wires using 3M waterproof connectors after routing the cable through your bars. It's absolutely possible and from my measurements the original Speci cable is long enough.
      Just be sure to have a stem that fits this bar: You need an open stem, like OneUp's own one, that doesn't block the middle hole. Unfortunately that's not the case with my stem.
      In case of failing: The original Speci controller costs only around 50$/€ and can easily be replaced.

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  Рік тому +1

      It is not a term they came up with. In order for parts to be spec’s on ebikes in Europe they have to pass much more stringent testing to be “e certified” due to heavier bike weights and speeds. These bars exceed those standards. In the US they are not needed but some brands choose to get tested for EU sales.

    Most compliant? Pretty hard to beat Fasst Flexx. But they're heavy and pricey, even in the carbon model. I have been using the original Oneup oval bars with 35mm rise for the last couple of years and they certainly work for me. Have had them on my Ibis Ripmo and now my Specialized Levo. Brilliant bars. Arm/hand pump issues are almost eliminated (compared to my old aluminium bars) except on the longest and most intense descents (and that is probably more to do with my bad technique 😏🤔). I don’t think the extra bit of compliance on these new ones would be noticeable for me.
    I would have been keen to get these new bars for the ebike stealth, but from what you say they are unfortunately not compatible with the Levo controller 😩.
