The depths of this man's heart, and the many layers of Raymond Reddington, never cease to totally enthrall me! I hang on every word, watch every nuance on his face, in his eyes, and in his body language. A subject I never tire of studying, and learning more and more. Yet, we know there's much we've yet to have revealed to us. Thank you, Monique...this was exquisite!!
cards0486 My pleasure, and thank you very much! I agree 100% about Red having many layers, some of which we've been exposed to in glimpses and over time will be revealed more fully, and watching his journey unfold has been a true joy. James's work is nothing short of a master class.
James Spader is a charismatic genius of an actor, the BEST in Hollywood, who takes risks and does justice to every character he portrays!!! THERE IS NO ONE LIKE HIM AS A TALENT these days in movie industry and NOW in Blacklist , NO ONE could have done Raymond Reddington as good as HE DOES!!!! If the network and the creator of this show ARE SMART enough they would keep it going with HIM on it for a LONG TIME!!!! AND WE WILL FOLLOW SPADER !!!
Couldn't agree more. James is one of a kind - there are no limits to his talent. His work on "The Blacklist" is simply master class, and I couldn't be happier for him.
Yes! I loved the incorporation of Bruce's quote. Perfect given the storyline and Red as a character. Thank you very much for writing, and I'm happy that you enjoyed the video. I look forward to creating more soon. 💜
animy net Thank you very much! My apologies for replying so late. I just posted a new video based on events from 2x18. If you get a chance to check it out, I hope you enjoy. 😊💜
Magnificent!! James Spader is the King of acting, his character-tailored demeanor and eccentricity is out of the question, phenomenal. If it were upto me he would be in all and win an Emmy, Academy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony etc every time.
Thank you very much! I had a lot of fun organizing this compilation in honor of James's birthday. He is my all-time favorite actor, and I agree that his interpretation of the 'Raymond Reddington' character warrants all possible awards. If I was a member of said panels, he would receive commendation after another. But in the meantime, I find it very important to celebrate his work using other avenues and savor every moment he's on our screens.
Nice work. This is literally the only show on tv that I dvr and make sure to see. Spader was always interesting back in the 80's, and I am thoroughly enjoying his portrayal of Red. Great, great show. (I subscribed) 😀
Absolutely fantastic! You have such a talent that is definitely being put to good use. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for sharing these delightful vignettes!
+darkmistress1980 Thank you very much! THIS is the production I'm most proud of, and I'm happy that you enjoyed. I look forward to creating more presentations of Red and his journey as the chapters continue to unfold. James's work has been nothing short of a master class, and I've enjoyed every second.
Another great video, Monique. You captured the essence of Red's character, and the nature of his relationship with Lizzie, really well. I especially liked when he said: "A wise man can learn more from a foolish question than a fool can learn from a wise answer." And to learn that was a Bruce Lee quote LOL. The part from 0:05 to 1:10 was really intense and thought-provoking. Superb score as well. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to watching more.
It's fantastic, Monique! You have this great and natural sense of making videos. The editing, the music, everything is perfect! Congrats! And yes - Happy Birthday Mr. Spader!
Thank you very much, Lauren! Creating this was a joy, and I look forward to future projects. The music - "Sky Dream" by Hi-Finesse" - was featured in an early "Age of Ultron" trailer, and right away I knew that was the perfect selection. I'm very happy that you enjoyed the video, and thanks again for your kind words.
+Elizabeth S Thank you so, so much! I look forward to creating more videos focusing on "The Blacklist", in particular Red and James's master class work, in the future. Right now, one of the projects I'm working on is a tribute for "CSI".
+Monique Martin You're most welcome! I don't know what I'm looking forward to the most : Series 3 of The Blacklist or your compilations :-) Bye for now.
TamCatG Thank you so, so much! The music for this was featured in an early trailer for "Avengers: Age of Ultron", and from there the outline came pretty quickly as far as which elements to include, what point to end the video with, etc. Of all the videos I've created, THIS is still the one I'm most proud of. I'm very happy that you enjoyed, and I look forward to creating more very soon. Cannot wait for season 3!
I really don't know how you do it, but your videos are always perfect! and I love how you always choose the best scenes and best dialogues and use just the most fitting music for the background score! I'm a fan!
Ashley Crawford Thank you very much, Ashley!! I'm so happy that you enjoyed the video, and I look forward to creating more as the show continues. Love Red!! James's work is nothing short of a master class.
LOVE THIS VID A WHOLE BUNCH ..... LOVE THE JAMES (RED) VOICE OVER GOOD IDEA!!! U CAPTURE THOSE EMOTIONS WELL OF THEM IN SCENES .. JUST BEAUTIFUL ... THE MUSIC'S CRESHENDO LOVE LOVE LOVE. Signed TWIN
Thank you so much, twin. There are no words to fully convey how appreciative I am of your friendship, support and constant encouragement. Similar to my presentation of Red and Dembe's friendship, this put me through the emotional wringer.
Thank you very much, Lucia! There are so many dimensions and layers to Red, and it's been a pleasure exploring him. I've created a couple other videos focusing on him, and if possible I'd love to get your opinion. Thanks again! #hugs
Thank you very much! I'm so happy that you enjoyed the video. I just posted a new video focusing on 2x14 and look forward to creating more. With these characters, the possibilities are endless. 😊💜
With scenes like this from Red and how far he would go to protect Lizzie, unspokenly says he's her father. He was heart broken when Lizzie to him to back off in the Luther Braxton Conculison, after thinking he's only using her to find the Fulcrum. A priceless object alone like the Fulcrum chip would not make you heart broken.
Lizzie is Red's "ray of light". Expressing that sentiment indicates a relationship deeper than father & daughter. His heartbreak is motivated by Lizzie continuing to see him through government-tinted lenses, believing that he isn't capable of feeling or acting aside from self-interest. Yes, he would resort to endless lengths to keep her safe, but that's because he loves her. Equal in this regard is Dembe. With Red as a character, there are two golden rules. First, if any harm comes to someone that he cares about, there will be consequences. Second, he never lies to Lizzie. A biological connection would, once again, be a disservice. The show is built on the idea that nothing is as it appears to be. Red has made it clear that he isn't her father. Lizzie directs all of her anger and insecurities toward him because she knows that he isn't going anywhere. As difficult as it is to make sense of his feelings for her, Lizzie's equally unsure of how to deal with her need for Red beyond needing to acquire answers.
Monique Martin I remember the Creators/Writers saying once in an interview, even though If Red and Lizzie are not really father-daughter related, they are treating their relationship like a father - daughter one.
Sparrowcompass actually one of the writers from the show clarified that statement. 2 fathers and 2 daughters (Red and Jennifer) (Liz and her father) hence, a "father/daughter" story. Again, the WRITERS said that as fact. Has nothing to do with Red and Liz's relationship, but their search for the ones missing in their lives.
ashdash23 Remember In the Luther Braxton Conclusion, in the flashback, Liz asks Young Lizzie "Who's Marsha?" When the parents outside the closet are arguing and Young Lizzie replies "You are." Her real name is persumably Marsha and Lizzie is the adopted name Sam gave her?

It’s only now I realized how much Reddington’s ex wife and Elizabeth’s side faces are similar. Which makes me wonder : Is it Reddington real identity the big mystery of the series so far or Lizzie’s ? The screenplayers has made an habit to trick us in so many ways, I am wondering if the bones story in the 5th season are not a trap to blurry the lines. In the episode she remembers the house fire, she respond to the name of Elizabeth, not Masha. So who is she really ? Did Katarina have twin girls ? Is Elizabeth the daughter of another acquaintance of Red but not Katarina ? Did Red switch two little girls to protect his own daughter ? Is that the possible reason he can’t tell the truth to Lizzie ? Is he afraid to reveal he committed what would be taken as irreparable ? Did Katarina asked Red to exchange Masha with another child to play the doppleganger ? Is Stephanie the real Masha ?
I have a request. You are so good at making these homages. I would like to see Segments from "The Blacklist" put to Golden Earring's "Twilight Zone". It just screams Red and Lizzie ( or at least James). Please, Check out this music video ua-cam.com/video/8th-I5LsK_c/v-deo.html . That would be so Cool. Thank You
TamCatG Thank you so, so much for both your kindness and the song recommendation! I'll definitely keep that in mind for future videos. :) For now, I'm organizing footage for my next project - a "Team Red " compilation, essentially continuing the Red and Dembe tribute I created awhile ago. It will also include Mr. Kaplan, Leonard, Brimley, Glen, and the ops team we were first introduced to in 1x10. #SoExcited
+Istrebitel pidorov Couldn't agree more about both Red and James's interpretation of the character which is nothing short of master class. Hugs and love from the US.
+Carlos Andrade No, Red is not Lizzie's father. The night of the fire, she killed her father, shot him more specifically and in the process defended her mother. Megan and Kat Goodson confirmed that again following the season 2 finale.
I understand that but I remember in one episode where Raymond was putting on his shirt and we could see his back with burnt skin, but wasn't Lizzie's father on his back after he got shot during the fire, plus I recall hearing Berlin threatening Raymond with Lizzie referring to her as his daughter?
Carlos Andrade Berlin never referred to or implied that Lizzie was Red's daughter. Instead, the suggestion was that his feelings for her are very deep, offering his ex-wife Naomi/Carla as a point of reference. And as for the scars on Red's back, those stem from not only his presence that night, but also (and more importantly) from his being the person who actually pulled Lizzie from the flames - a revelation that still hasn't occurred to her.
+Monique Martin Not true, you forget a very important scene. After Liz recovers her memories of that night, learning that she apparently shot her father and that during that fire Red was there, the doctor later tells her that it seemed Liz's memories had been tampered with as a child. The doctor adds that people in the memory may have all been there but in different roles than she remembers, and the only person who could tell Liz the truth about what happened that night was whoever tampered with those memories.
+StonewallCSA I'm not wrong. The season 2 finale clarified the memory tampering (introduced in the Luther Braxton installments which were episodes 9 and 10 respectively in the second season), revealing that her parents were arguing the night of the fire and in the process Lizzie shot and killed her father who isn't Red. From her perspective, her mother was in danger, and she responded accordingly. Her protective instinct is the same motivating factor behind her killing the Attorney General. Yes, the task force was threatened with imprisonment, but propelling her over the edge was mentioning Red and death penalty in the same breath. Red is not her father and this has been clarified ad nauseum by producers of the show, Megan, and the performances themselves which for me are the best indicators of what a relationship is or isn't.
