Not bad considering the dry weight of the trailer is just under the max towing capacity of the Jeep. Those are really nice trailers. Great drone footage.
Mark what are you running for a trailer brake setup? I have an 18 Rubi JLU which is prewired for it. Also did you/how did you run power to the trailer to charge the batteries?
So, a JK Unlimited Rubicon with the Max Tow package (highest tow-rating of any wrangler) is 3500lbs. The tare weight (just the trailer) is 3200lbs. So, unless you are running that totally empty, with no additional awnings attached, you are over the safe tow rating on the Jeep. That's also assuming NOTHING in the back of the Jeep either.
Oddly enough, that is only the go ole USA rating. (or so I've heard). In other more sensible areas they have a rating of 4500lbs. Loaded, the trailer will go from 3800-4200lbs. As of yet I have had absolutely no problems with towing, power, handling the unit.
Hello Mark, my wife and I are really interested in the UEV-490. We've been back and fourth between the Patriot X1 and the 490 but my concern with the 490 is the overall weight when loaded. You mentioned you've had no issues and I believe your jeep has a similar towing capacity to my gen3 tacoma. How's the overall gas mileage? Btw, you located here in AZ?
Alita schaid, I run my 490 between 3900 and 4200lbs. With jeep loaded I'm running total wt of 10,500Lbs. I get about 13-14.5 mpg in the jeep. That drops to about 11-12 pulling the trailer.
I really like this UEV-490 and am considering purchasing one. I have a 2016 Jeep JKU Sport and I am in the process of re-gearing it and adding Truetracs front and rear. What gearing does your Jeep have? I already purchased some 4.10 gears but it is not to late to exchange them for some 4.56 gears.
I'd rather watch paint dry than watch ten minutes of this mate, add, some features, what can it do, how much storage space, how to set it up and taking down, meal station, hygiene, cooking, etc. ....
So, . . . . . it can roll behind a Jeep at two miles an hour for ten of the most BORING minutes of my life. Any chance of getting a look-see at it's features? Quite the wasted video.
Sorry to have brought you 10 minutes closer to your demise, and not enlightened you Stan. This trailer is not a Maserati, so slow it goes. It is after all off road. If racing down a 4x4 trail in a razor is your thing and want to pull something sporty behind it, then you would not be happy with owning one. As to its features, I am working on a video of its setup and takedown.
mark hughes Just being a bitz sarcastic, boss. My point is that during ten minutes I expected a close look at features, details, etc. All we get is showing off drone flying skills, a look at a pretty Jeep, and the ability to utilize editing software. Yawn, . . . Z-z-z-z-z-z. Putting us to sleep is on you, Ace.
Stan Murray, its all good. I have another vid that shows more of the off road capability. Just look up 490 the beast and you will see all of them. (3) When you are by yourself it's hard to effectively capture the true nature of what you are accomplishing.
Stan Murray , that would be me. Just got it two months ago. Still learning not how to run into trees......lol. So, on features, what would you like to see.
Awesome vid
I'd love to see a video about your solar panel set up. The options for the 490 mention foldable soft panels that aren't hard mounted.
Hey mark see you didn't need me looks great!!

Good to know. What's the overall towing and tongue wait capacity of your particular model? Thanks for the info as well.
Stamped on the ball receiver hitch is 500Lbs

I use 4.10's and have had no problems and run 35"s. Look me up on facebook. Mark Sharkbait hughes. I can give you more info.

For a walk around. Enjoy
WAY to much trailer for your tow vehicle.

There is this thing called a volume control... turn it down...
I cannot stand rhythmic montages.
