I don’t think sonic games should be completely open world, a bit more pathways and a more open level? sure! but i think levels still should have focus and if the game becomes completely open world you will get lost easily, just check out any 3D sonic fan game out there and you’ll probably see that they lack focus.
Also that's the point of open world games u supposed to get lost in them
@@supersonicgames2 no, you're not supposed to get lost, you're supposed to explore them and still keep with the story or objectives without much of a problem
Look Ghost of Tsushima for example, is completly open world and yet still is easy to get to the important areas, even to side quests
If the point of an open world game was to get you lost game developers wouldn't spend so much time building a story around the world they want to make or giving so much detail to the areas you visit
The point of an open world is to explore, to know the story of that world and give you interest to discover more of the main plot and the places you go, not to get you lost

As much as i hate the trend of making every game open world it could work for sonic.

Sonic is pretty much meant to be open world, yes it could be in a race style like in unleashed and generations with the boost, but I could still see the boost working in an open world, but as it stands SEGA has the choice to either remove boost or keep it.

Oof, these physics look a bit heavy. Especially the homing attack, or just jumps in general really. They really need to be a bit floatier than that.
While I myself wouldn't mind if future levels in Sonic games have a more of open up feel to it. I think along with it with need other things to it. One very important we thing....A map or map like system. Cause as much as I like open world game. No one likes getting lost or not having a sense of direction. That and things to do in it. Like side missions, objectives, etc.
Every time I hear a talk of open world games. A lot tends to forget a game needs more then just being open world. A kinda Sonic game that would be cool. If we take notes from both, the Dark Souls series and other Soul like games, but another good example. Is that new recent samurai game; Ghost of Tsushima.

Sonic is a fast, super mobile dude. He just needs a playground to explore at high speed. This feels more like, if Sonic actually got to run around like the free spirit he is, which I like.

I honestly think they should do open world , since they let us make custom characters they should do a game we’re we can go to any level from any sonic game and replay it , but as either a sonic main character or your custom character and also being able To pick your character type like , speed or strength , emerald powers or flight or silvers powers that would be 🔥🔥

I think Sonic could work great as a semi open world collectathon. His movement is very well suited for that. Within those open worlds you can still have linear levels. Kinda like Mario Odyssey/Banjo Kazooie but bigger.

The cameras in all sonic fan games is what makes it feel “weird”. Nothing bad with the game itself, that’s just what makes it different from actual sonic games like SA, SA2, 06, SH, U Unleashed, etc...

My dream is a remake of Sonic unleashed but this time its actually more of a Sonic world adventure. Honestly just take Mario odyssey's setup of going to different areas of the planet but with sonic and his design. Maybe have the boost gameplay serve as the transitions between areas so that way we have that gotta go fast gameplay. Its a pipe dream. Nice looking fan game 👌

I feel like if they ever made an open world Sonic game, it'll most likely be like this. with hidden items,a shop,and maybe also side missions.
And to select a level, it'll probably be like Sonic unleashed maybe. Where you go to start a level and everything. It'll be cool if the area would change during the story. Like it turns night,or day,or even at sunrise. That'll at least be my ideal of a open world type thing.

I think it would be cool if we had the natural stages and why you're out of a stage its open world or you have to run from the stage you just finished to the next
I want to see a sonic game where it really *is* open world, and have the world be filled with all kinds of fun world objects and map geometry to build speed, pick up momentum, and do insane tricks off of. They could even block off places they don't want you to go yet the same way they would in Sonic Adventure, or something, where it seems so tantalizingly reachable but you can't *quite* go in that direction until you have the ring dash or something.
But... of course, what do I know. I'm just a consumer. I don't know what I want. :^)

The main reason why Sonic Team will never do an open world Sonic game is development polish. While the games recently haven't played very well, they still look amazing. In this fan game, it's very clearly reusing the same assets over and over, leading to an overall lack of polish in its presentation. Sonic Team, while they do reuse assets occasionally, for the most part, they create new assets for each stage, giving them a more polished appearance. If they wanted to do huge open-world levels, they would need to create assets for that entire open-world level. That would lead to a longer development cycle, and fans are already annoyed at how long the 30th-anniversary title is taking. Can you imagine how the fans would react to that?
