It has been said,
so it has been believed,
that Paris is a place for lovers.
People hide from rain
and people play the lottery
so people make a pilgrimage to Paris.. to find love.
where Proust searched for lost time
and Picasso picked pastel oils
in hues of grey
to mark Cain on his canvas and bed linen.
Paris-
I’ve discovered-
is a city swollen with loss.
Ghosts of lovers linger on bar glasses
their moans trapped inside the clocks upon the street
that keep the time of moments passed
you were in my hearth
my home..
my heart.
now I travel
heavy hearted
through a mosaic of teeth and stone moss and bone ;
a kaleidoscope plot of
what we had seen
and how we had loved
veiled with the dew drop tears of who I have left behind.
