      They may not have the most horsepower in their heads, but dogs are the smartest animals in the world for one reason: they’ve teamed up with the apex animal. They are (for the most part) not considered food by us, and live in our homes as a family member. Chimps and dolphins won’t be going to the stars with us, but dogs will.

      Cats barely did anything to their extinction. It was a mix of catastrophies like change of climate, competition with other bone chrushers, Canines (yes, the dogs we have today is one of the reasons they are dead) and more! Canines evolved to use stamina than brute power or bulk. If you think about it, their extinction is like Megalodon's, change of climate, new species, and competition. Stop thinking cats are the reason they are extinct because cats barely did anything.

    • @DavidSaintloth
      @DavidSaintloth 5 років тому +2

      True but if you are going to present a rigorous time line for the emergence of species you should like wise be rigorous in any representation of those species you present I would say.
      It's pretty well known that floppy ears are a hallmark of domesticated animals ...not just dogs in fact, it is further not a trait that would be selective in an environment where humans don't exist and the efficiency of hearing is reduced due to ear flop (yes...it is). So it doesn't make sense in any direction as a trait to be shown in renditions of a canine species that lived millions of years before homonins separated from the LCA with chimps.

    For all of those saying that cats brought their extinction, it was a mix of factors such as climate change, competition within other bone crushers, the biotic interchange of North America, Asia, And South America. And they were also already dwindling as their descendants, modern canines switched for a more powered(and adaptive) chase hunting style rather than specialized power and bulk, which was more successful.
    Cats just barely did anything, as they were just another group of animals with Similar hunting styles. And these cats were not related to your cats that you have right now.

    I am especially appreciative of the writers of this series willingness to say that something is an unknown or a theory. One of the greatest mistakes I encounter is when experts present something that is thought to have occurred as a hard fact. This is a vital difference between evolutionary theory and theology. Scientific theory is a fact that incorporates guesses. Theologists posit that scientific theory is ALL theory, i.e. NOT fact, and that theology presents as fact. This, in my view, is the difference between education and dogma.
