The Cristal Up is also present in Brazil, though it comes in those big multi-colour pen packs. I have no use for unusual pen colours, so I have no reason to buy them. I've tried other 1,2mm points before, but for me with my light writing pressure, they're not any different than regular old 1mm in trace width, with the downside of being more squirrelly. And I like precision, so no thank you, for normal writing 1mm is my upper limit.
Hi DFT - These were in the US stores for a short while, also sold as a multi-color set. They also market the Bic Cristal Bold (1.6mm) pens the same way. In Europe you can just by all blue or all black, far more practical. It must be the kids who are buying all these non-standard color pens. I see them everywhere. For people like you with a light touch, I can see where you prefer a finer point. For heavy-handers like me, the bolder points are ideal. Thanks!
@@AlwaysAnalog. and @DinnerForkTongue Hello, eveeyone!... In Portugal we have the same problem: these wonder white barrels Bics are sold in packs where there's just a dark blue one. I did find, however, packs of only blue ones (packs of 4) in Spanish Amazon - and I'm waiting for them to arrive. I really love the design of this pen. The ones sold in Portugal are made in Mexico too and I'm yet to see the origin of the amazon pack. I agree that it feels different from the Bic Soft (it's hard to me to write with the Soft because it seems the ballpoint travels too fast on paper). It's definitely sharper and I believe the ink is bolder, darker, almost a fond navy blue, which I personally like. I also use the light blue version and, amazingly, the dark green one! I saw the video comparing different green Bic inks. A treat as always!... As I always felt the green Bic ink is uneven, I eventually never used green again. There's a good green one, Uni Lakubo (take a look at it, Kevin, at least to see an unusually even green - or so it was like that some years ago), more on the fine tip side, with a wonderful color and texture, but Lakubos are too heavy for me. So, no more greens. Until I discovered the Crystal Up!... Its tone is more on the Bic Soft green side, more like fresh grass, than the Bic original (I think what we call here Bic Cristal original is the Xtra Smooth in USA) green, too dense (and uneven...) or the Bic Large (called Intenso in Brazil, I believe, with the 1.6 tip - and an even more uneven ink, at least in my experience). Sorry to change the topic but couldn't resist!... Hope you all have a wonderful weekend - I'm still catching up with Kevin's videos 😊
@@joyinmymind Hi there Joy! Faber-Castell produces a very nice green ballpoint pen, though I'm not sure how available they are in Europe. In Brazil it's in the Trilux line.
the BIC Cristals are rare here in the Philippines. I can only find the RoundStic. Have you tried the Mitsubishi Uni Jetstream? Many call it the best ballpoint pen ever.
Curiously, in Brazil it's the Round Stic that is impossible to find (I've only ever found one, in red, that someone lost at my work). The cheapest and easiest-to-find Bic is the Cristal. I don't mind it at all though, because the Cristal is rigid acryllic and doesn't flex when you write with it, so it doesn't cause hand fatigue like a bendy writing tool such as the Round Stic (or those awful resin pencils) does.
@@DinnerForkTongue That's interesting. Maybe it depends on distributors. There are some Cristals i can find online, but they are unreasonably expensive.
Hi Ronciego - it's funny how companies distribute their products around the world. Sorry you don't have good access to the Cristals. I have not tried the Uni Jetstream but have heard a lot of good things about the pen. Thanks!
@@AlwaysAnalog I mentioned the Jetstream in your last pen video and recently tried them myself - got a couple of retractable ones at Walgreens on clearance for around $4+ (refillable). These are more expensive for ballpoint pens so they're harder to find. I suspect my local Walgreens won't be restocking these. The ones I bought are about $20+ for a dozen box but typically run more around the $25+ price range.
I love your channel and Cavalcade of food. If you have any Scripto k780 mechanical pencils, will you please consider doing an episode showing it? Thank you in advance:) Please say hi to Ralph.
Hi Diozzy - thanks for watching both channels! I don't have any K780 Scripto pencils. I remember seeing them everywhere years ago, but I may come across one at a sale one of these days. Thanks - and Ralph says "hi!"
Hi there !! Hope you’re doing well !! Personally I’m getting ready for the end-of-year crunch surely you are or will be soon too ! I noticed that many students are switching to iPads here. Less and less writing « the old fashioned way » and even more rare is cursive. A sad state if you ask me. Don’t know if there’s a connection but the writing instruments these days on my side of the water are pretty stagnant. Waiting for back to school. But remember if you ever run out of something let me know 😉 keep well and as always thanks for your content !!! 😊😊😊
Hi Soo! Thank you so much for sending these to me - I love these pens! I see the same trend here. There is far less writing by hand. Most students come to class, open their laptops or tablets for notetaking, etc. The need for writing instruments is certainly less, so it is probably a disincentive for companies to develop a lot of new products. As for cursive, it's no longer taught in many school districts here in the US. And I've found that students who were not taught cursive also cannot read cursive, so everything needs to be printed. We have just finished the semester! Looking forward to summer! Hope all is well with you and thanks again for all the wonderful goodies!!
I am a devoted fan of the standard, translucent Bic Cristal, but I gotta admit: I sure like the look of that opaque white one. Very nice!
Hi MAMO - there is something nice about the white barrel on this pen. I also love the slightly bolder line than the standard Cristal. Thanks!!
It's a Sunday pen, that's for sure. A nice upgrade.
Thanks for mentioning where the items are made. My primary buying decision is always based on place of manufacture
Hi Kobie - I try to always mention where things are made. Thanks!
I far prefer pencils but when I need a pen I prefer a Bic Cristal. I like that there is no flex to the barrel like most other cheap pen models.
Hi RBS - I am with you: I would rather use a pencil, but when a pen is required my go-to is a Bic Cristal of some sort. Thanks!
For sure! Nothing beats the comfort and certainty of a rigid barrel. In this, Bic and Pilot are clear winners.

Hi Alfred! Congrats on being first!! I always appreciate you watching!!
Un hear a difference between each as you write. Great video. Have you done videos on writing pads?
Thanks, Russell! I haven't done any writing pads reviews yet, but I may in the future. Thanks!
