Why do you think the game industry has become dominated by layoffs, unfinished games and microtransactions

@@KobeJordanHakeem bruh you are like 12 of course you wouldn’t know what it is, it’s called Rendezook for a reason, the guy who pulled off the move is the reason why you can do that in halo it’s more iconic than you could ever imagine, only losers call it “jumping out the jet like a boss” sounds so cringe.
Like how Warhammer has games released over the past few years in several different genres. I was playing through Boltgun and couldn't help but think something like this would work so well for Halo.
I'm honestly fine with Microsoft not caring. Plenty of my favorite games came from publishers that didn't give a damn about the franchise, and the developers were still able to make something great. I just want one, motivated, capable person at 343. Just one.
Microsoft not caring isn't the issue, the issue is that Halo is currently in 343's hands, which Veterans of bungie and 343 has said the people making the game don't like it. Which is why they're trying so hard to shift what Halo is and it's not working.
Another thing I find important to discuss is the swap to the “free to play - in game shop model.” This was done obviously to reach for the success of games like Fortnite but if they just release a FEATURE COMPLETE game - All classic game modes, theater, forge, firefight, assassinations, and a simple but cool ranking system ( I love reach’s) - Then people will HAPPILY pay $60!! Then, once people outside the core fanbase see that we all love it, they will buy it too! Releasing JUST the infinite campaign for $60, while it is solid, was such a slap in the face.
Yeah the free to play model needs to NEVER be implemented into Halo ever again. That's one thing I wish these youtubers would actually really press on every time. It needs to be addressed and there needs to be community-wide pressure on Microsoft/343 to forcefully wipe the concept from their heads. We need hundreds of thousands of people to actually vote with their wallets and make their interests known to the cash-hungry big wigs. If Halo's gonna recover from Infinite's stain we actually need people to not be mindless, complacent consumers for once in the last decade.
And the community project that’s making one, will probably get taken down by Microsoft. It’s sad that they refuse to do anything fun with halo anymore.
@@vindix9137 yeah the terms of fan games are they cant use microsoft's assets (like ripping the models from games, recreations are okay) and the project needs to be free/non-profit, and the fangame is both of these.
and it could be again, if microsoft sees it for its potential, because back then if it weren't for Halo 2 i reckon we wouldn't of had multiplayer in the year 2000 probably waaay later
343 were handed a golden goose yet they cage it. This causes stress for the goose so it won't lay golden eggs. The goose also has a pedigree ancestry yet they still refuse to accept that. The MCC team did wonders and I'm guessing it was a small team that had near zero oversight for what they were doing. Every mainline 343 game has just declined, taken basic things away, monopolising on the most basic aspects that should be not even features, a given thing. I can't hate on the special cosmetics because that really is impressive but a game can't survive on milking gold from what was given freely. If their 10 year plan was to make Infinite a full game, I think they might be slightly overdue (feel free to tell me if I have the release of H5 and now wrong)
@@ianhall6614 nope warzone allowed you to get vehicles and weapons on your own you did not have to share or compete with your teammates for any of those, not only that but there would be no objectives like kill this warden eternal or taje down this squad of covenant that has a high level target for points. Warzone didnt focus on having a battlefield, it focus on the power of multiple people grabbing whatever power they had to compete against the enemies power.
A battlefront style of game where you could play as different species would be amazing I think. Playable Grunts, Jackals, Brutes, Marines, ODST, Hunters, Drones, Elites, Spartans, etc. Huge battlefields, like Halo Wars but a shooter instead. So much potential.
are you sure about that? because all it takes is for the fans to show they want more halo but from a different devloper. the best we can do as a community is to march uon mircosofts doors and demand change for halo. because its clear no one else will do it.
@@harrizar1772206I’m pretty sure given the action of 343 and their treatment against the original creators doing petty stuff like making the original halo environmental artist wait in the parking lot for hours just to come out and tell him to come back later. There is a lot more examples of this and even then hiring people who don’t like halo.
You know what I want to see? A Hitman-style Spartan Headhunters/Lone wolf assassins game, possibly even we play as Spartan-B312 (Noble Six) though I know that's unlikely due to B312 being a blank slate character that players can project themselves onto
I definitely agree but one thing often overlooked is how little lore halo infinite added. Gameplay is important but so is story. I’ve always wanted a halo 2 style campaign where you play as a marine or odst for half the game (maybe even alpha 9) and the other half as an insurrectionist, humanizing them like they did the covenant in halo 2 and exposing the casual halo fans to more of the lore.
That's sort of why I disagree with Mint's take on making several games at the same time. We already have games being made, we just don't have genuine and well thought out stories being written.
Nah. Bungie was invested in making a game *AND* telling a story. 343 is interested in making microtransaction simulators and retconning Bungie's stories.
Spot on. Unreal the amount of money squandered and the amount they continue to leave on the table. If Halo ever gets the right management it will easily print money for decades to come
I totally agree with you on this-the issue with Microsoft and numerous other companies is that a game that makes a good profit comes before a good game in general; hence why there are so many live service games. Companies just need to stop focusing on temporal things like money.
The funny thing is Microsoft in halo infinites case gave a surplus of extra resources and time, even delayed launch, and they still couldn’t get it right. Aside from some maps and modes post launch they did jack all in terms of post launch content and severely fumbled at launch.
343 experimented with RTS with Halo wars and it was outstanding. Twin stick shooter, halo Spartan assult and strike were good games, maybe not great but still enjoyable. Please 343, do this more and give us more.
or multiple studioes for better effect and quicker launch times, all it takes is for microsoft to listen to the communties plea for help in removing 343 as a game developer for halo and turn it into a publisher instead.
I disagree with the idea that Halo alone is unique enough to be blown up into a thousand genres and that by doing so the franchise will be big. Any game could be blown up like this. Some already are. Blowing out a franchise like this is actually a secondary effort. The primary effort has to be capturing the magic of a good traditional halo game. Making halo games that aren’t even the best in their genre is just needless and I don’t think it’s wise. Sounds good on paper. But in reality, a halo battle royal still needs to be a good battle royal. A halo hero shooter still needs to be a good hero shooter. And that takes a lot of talent and time. You’re basically asking Microsoft to gather all the talent in the industry to do something unheard of which is somehow make every single kind of game at once
You know it’s a bad sign when someone like mint, arguably one of the most understanding and patient halo, content creators, tells you to “do better and get your shit together”.
well he's now just getting tired of how far 343 industries has fallen off, im surprized he hasn't cursed at them yet due to the sever lack of respect towards the fans of the franchise. we asked them plenty and the only thing they seemed to care about is the store and how to start charging for colours on a spartan armour, thats the level of 343 we are dealing with now folks whether you like it or not. the straight fact is, halo would be better not under a company but under several, mircosoft has the talent to do it, so why isn't mircosoft stepping in and moving 343 industries aside as the only usefull job i reckon they can pull off now is as a publisher, let the other companys mircosoft has in its bullet belt to load up into the halo chamber.
The next halo has to be focused on community and trying to creat a social ecosystem. 343 is already great at making a competitive Halo, what they have to expand is their social systems. When it come to multi-player
Battlefront style halo would be sick. I would love to see a horror side to halo. Oni research vessel stumbles into a flood galaxy or something. Marine based would make an amazing story
@glowdonk Exactly. It is entirely possible that in a couple of console generations the hardware will be so advanced that you can't play Halo 5 on a future console. Kind of like how a lot of old games can't run on modern PCs anymore without crashing.
are you really suprized given how bad the fans recieved halo 5? like cmon i know 343 is a complete fuck up but thats probably the only thing they have done right and thats not subjecting us to more halo 5 torture.
@@harrizar1772206 So you'd rather have Halo 5 rot on the Xbox One alongside the Xbox Avatars instead of letting people have a chance at playing 5 on PC regardless of its shittiness?
One thing i think they need to do is get a fully functional pc port for halo 5. Ive been playing the forge bundle with friends recently and its some of the most fun I've ever had playing video games. I just want to be able to properly play warzone again
I like the idea of a battlefront style game. Where you start the matches out as marines, and you can earn points for kills objectives ect. Then use points to purchase ODSTs and even spartans. On the other side you can start as grunts and jackles, and point up to like elites and brutes.then obviously you can get heroes like the chief or noble team. On the otherside, atriox, tartarus, guilty spark, prophets ect. The more i think about it as i write this, the more i like it.
Thanks for making this video man, Halo can get back to the top again, I'm sure. We just need way more games to keep people engaged with Halo as a franchise. Halo should be pumping out as many games as COD, that's where we need to get to 👍
Halo needs to become a military sci-fi series again. I don't care about named characters that are the centerpoint of the entire franchise. I loved Noble Team, the Rookie, the unnamed Marine NPC. Let's see more of that. Make the world bigger than Master Cheeks. My favorite Halo game is modded Arma 3.
One Halo event I would love to play as a first person shooter is a Covenant perspective Fall Of Reach, mainly focus towards the Devoted Sentries the elite squad who hunted down Noble Team.
Imagine a free roam Halo with a quest system of missions and side missions instead of quests. You could pick whether you’re a Spartan, any alien species, marine, ODST, or even a civilian or insurgent. It would be very interesting to be able to play a Halo game like that, don’t you think?
its not the matter of who its the matter of them? we just need mircosofts backing to allow a multi studio alliance in order to build halo games like they are building weapons in a factory. (but ofc to the fans enjoyment and not for greed)
My two Halo concepts ive been holding onto for a while are 1: An ODST horror game where you combat Flood. 2: A Jerome/Isabel adventure. I could see them doing the Semi-open world again but with more diverse and complex environments. Playing a Spartan 2 in MKIV would make for some possibly different gameplay mechanics.
Halo's main selling point was never it's gameplay or story, it was the community, and that's honestly where I've seen the biggest decline over the past few years and I don't think Microsoft or 343 are entirely to blame. You can't spend five seconds on a forum or UA-cam video about halo without it turning into a barage of complaints. The most vocal fans are constantly asking for 343 to make their games as similar as possible to the bungie games by speaking against standard modern fps features like sprint and ADS, and alienating the core console playerbase by pushing for forced crossplay with mouse and keyboard and removing controller aim assist. Halo was never suppsed to be a sweaty old fashioned competitive shooter like counterstrike, it's always been a fun and innovative casual game for console players. Bungie's games were undoubtedly great, but many fans are honestly so blinded by nostalgia that they genuinely don't want 343s games to succeed.
It's precisely 343 that made it sweaty... Also halo 4 had a good story and terrible gameplay. Halo 5 had pretty good (but kinda sprint-heavy) gameplay but wtf was that story... Infinite had a decent story and pretty damn good gameplay overall, but it was barely halo. Not as bad as the road Assassin's Creed took but it almost feels like it's going that way
@@inertial_salmon 343 made it sweaty by listening to the complaints by UA-camrs like Mint Blitz and Hidden Xperia and eSports players, who have always pushed for PC crossplay, mouse and keyboard support, having precision starting weapons instead of the AR etc. The most vocal section of the community is no longer the core audience, it's people who only play competitive shooters on their high end gaming PCs. It's really clear when looking at the art style and gameplay of halo infinite that 343 listened to fan feedback a lot when developing the game, but you can't blame them for making bad decisions if that's what the community is calling for. Also I disagree that the gameplay of halo 4 was bad and that halo infinite doesn't feel like halo. Halo isn't supposed to feel the same every game, why would bungie call it Combat Evolved if they wanted the games to have the same combat mechanics for the entire series? So many fans want them to retread their steps and make a game just like halo 3 again, but copying what's already been done over a decade ago is how a franchise goes into a death spiral.
@@RealUlrichLeland no one wanted 343 to add skill based matchmaking, dashing, or microtransactions. No one wanted them to remove splitscreen campaign or take a year to make forge. No one wanted a battlepass. Crossplay is nice because not everyone can afford a console and people want to play with their friends. People like blitz rightfully criticize 343 for continuously not delivering on promises and actively making each game worse. The lore has been mangled since halo 4. Again, who the hell in the community asked for a battlepass?? Where is the splitscreen coop that has been requested for years? Where is halo 5 for PC? Seriously... Your argument is that the community's complaints are the issue when almost everything the community has wanted is to add community features and make the game less sweaty and feel good to play again.
I've always had this horror type halo game in my thoughts for years. You and a team of Spartans are tasked to search for a flood infected spartan in a flood infested ship. You don't have much resources to start out with due to you fighting countless of flood enemies. You have to look around the ship for weapons and ammunition. It's pitch black dark in the ship and while you were in battle you're equipment was damaged and don't have much illumination from the lights that shine from your helmet. The flood infected spartan roams around the ship but you can hear it screaming in the distance or you can hear it stalking you. It's either avoiding you or waiting to attack you at the right time. You are tasked to plant a nuke in that ship and escape or to neutralize the target but it will NOT be easy.
Mint I love you man but this video shows why nobody in the Halo community understands public companies like MSFT. The only way we can ever make a change is if someone in the Halo community has a substantial vested interest in MSFT and is able to swing investor votes which will be upwards of probably $50b or so (I have not checked who the top shareholder is that is not a fund manager). That is it. No amount of videos, no amount of stopping buying in the store, no number of community backlash events will cause change. And no, making good games will not create more profit for MSFT than the model that Infinite used. Models are developed that test these kind of things using 10,000 simulations at a time.
A Western RPG style game in the Halo Universe would be amazing. A Spartan with a TacPad on the wrist like a Pipboy to sort inventory, game functions like Fallout, you get picked up by Pelican to the ship in orbit and ODST Drop pod down to planet as fast travel. Finding diffrent colors of Overshield gives you layers to your shields to upgrade, Alien plants and killed Grunts can craft food for heals, a Survival spin with an open world like Infinite. Armor abilities collected in number for one use each. Ammo Bags increase your carry capacity, diffrent rounds for each weapon and all kinds of Halo Weapons from all games to choose from, a true open sandbox where surviving is just as important as leveling your Spartan to be ferocious enough to slay the Prophet or other final boss. ive always loved this idea!
Ive read up on all the things 343 has done BTS, it’s insulting Microsoft hasn’t shut down that studio. Doom 2016 MP was fire, let ID Software get a crack at Halo.
One thing I’d really love to see is a game centered around chief having some sort of protege or apprentice of some kind. Chief seems so wise and him taking a mentor role would add another dimension to him that tracks with his character.
Get rid of the interpersonal melodrama between characters. Bring back the mystique. where is the mystery of the world that makes you curious to explore it? why is it there? etc. i remember seeing and learning about things like the glyphs in ODST and thinking to myself “damn these people loved us and loved what they were making.”
Personally, I think the atmospheric tension that was Halo ODST and its firefight mode has been such an amazing shift that I heavily enjoyed playing. It made the same enemies you fight in Halo 3 comparatively much much scarier and made us think more tactically. And there was a board game with a disc that you’d play as the “roll of the dice” where you soldiers and grunts had a cost and could be placed on the map. There’s a lot of genres that can be explored or custom game modes and sides of the fight whose stories can be told. Halo isn’t just a first person shooter, its a world that’s been built over decades. I’d love to see more from it. Thank goodness the live action show was cancelled tho that was doodoo trash water
The fact that the halo IP wasn't used to make a BR movement game like Apex Legends is just mind boggling to me. They just said no to so much potential money and it would have fit the genre perfectly...
For me i would go back to the basics, if possible i would reboot the franchise since the halo 4 standpoint to make it more in line with the original trilogy , it would be a great way to fix so many mistakes, and take advantage of what was made right.

I want a 2D Halo Metroidvania. Like literally why not? It could be Spartan in an experimental Mirage armor variant specialized for one man infiltration missions or something that can be upgraded as they go, and given how well Metroidvanias take to horror imagery you could definitely get away with throwing the Flood in there.
I recently had the idea of a Battlefield Style Halo Multiplayer. Where it is inspired by Reach's Invasion game type and Halo 5's Warzone. I imagine it being a Spartan vs Elites on a massive battlefield. Gameplay features included: Custom Loadouts for both Spartans and Elites, a massive overhaul of weapons and vehicles including ones that were cut from previous games and made by fans, weapon and vehicle variants, more grenade types, armor abilities and Equipment (each being their own separate thing), New Ability: VISR ability (exp. Flashlight or Night vision), squad spawning, and Ordnance Drops (exp. Being able to drop ODSTs to the battlefield). I could go on about it, but I definitely agree that a battlefield style Halo game would be a party 😊
I agree, but I think the issue comes from the fact that 343i has specifically hired people who hated Halo because they wanted to just do everything different. They're never going to make a successful game until they can respect the source first.
They did that for Halo 4 (maybe 5) specifically. Safe to say they did learn their lesson, for the most part, when Infinite rolled around. Stop holding them over for a poor decision they made years ago.
@@TheKillamanJoe It's been dying since Reach. Obviously Reach is the most content complete but the gameplay literally pushed people back to H3 or to quit. That's where the first major population falloff happened.

This was an ESSAY. Great job. You pulled out all the stops and recalled some deep cuts. You should be strategic and creative director haha. Folks in charge don’t know how to look beyond 1yr with any confidence. In any case, this is Microsoft. With full intention to insult and hurt their feelings, I wish Halo were in better hands. Not with these B and C tier devs and managers. These are the Apple, Google, Blizzard, Activision rejects after all. They’ll admit it. Perhaps one day they’ll find their cajones and prove us (and themselves) wrong.
Two features I've been waiting for on MCC for far too long are split screen on PC, and cross platform co-op for all campaigns, not just 3 and ODST. They seem like two of the most important and basic features that were accessible back in the day. That said, I still love the MCC and I'll be playing it for as long as it's available to play.
Let's be real, now that Microsoft has acquired Activision and Call of Duty, what incentive do they have to put resources into a shooter (Halo) that competes with the biggest fps game (CoD) on the market? I say this as a massive Halo fan, it's my favorite game series of all time and I play Infinite weekly. Just really sad that Microsoft essentially gave up on the franchise, especially in light of what Phil Spencer said leading up to the launch of Infinite: "If we lose our way with Halo, we lose our way with Xbox."
I still say we should consider raising the fund to buy the Halo IP ourselves as a community, and fund the studio through a Patreon-esque donation system so the devs can focus on delivering good gaming experiences again instead of chasing profits and player retention.
We had so much customization near the middle and end of Halo Infinite, I felt I wanted to play a story with MY spartan. Would love to see a game focus on that, perhaps a Co-op game
Halo could definitely be figured into a lot of different genes. Ever since I dove into halo lore I’ve thought it would be fun to see maybe a game on the human forerunner war, a stealth based (ODST?) shooter, spartan of marine versus insurrectionist game even. One type of game I thought would be really interesting for the halo franchise is a mix between halo wars and the halo main line games. If you really wanted to you could make a stealth based headhunter or special ops elite game. If you did do an insurrectionist game versus the marines then there you go you have a real time shooter right there. Wow that is a long comment sorry and have a great day! 👍
The one game that I want, that we'll never get, is a New Vegas style RPG set in some outer colony after the war ended, mixing some former covenant species like Brutes, Jackals and a few Grunts out on a planet held by Insurrectionists. Imagine the different plots and stories about a conflict between a UNSC/ONI investigation coming to the world, backing the different factions of Jackals, the Brute Pack on world, grunts scattered around and an option to side with the Insurrectionists. All the different weapons, models, vehicles, all the different armors, the value of shields and the general rarity of projectors for them, all adding up to a fantastic sandbox of gameplay options, and a lot of very interesting cultural explorations that you could delve into on the many different alien and non-UNSC perspectives in the setting. Imagine the absolute *terror* you'd feel if you saw a pod shoot out of the sky in some mission and a health bar at the bottom of your screen saying "Spartan" as you side with like, the Innies or a Jackal gang.
Nolan and Halo 64 alone makes me chuckle of hype. Imagine a Paper Halo too. As long as the people delivering any possible Halo game have the passion for it, I'm sure it'll be great
Said this a couple times in person at the recent HCS event. But man it’s just so sad to me that I literally wouldn’t play this game or care AT ALL if it was just 343. The community consisting of Eli the ninja, makowski, mint blitz, pro players and orgs, and ynot b reckless etc are THE ONLY reason I care. And this isn’t a support of halo grass roots cuz most of the content creators are mid and don’t even try that hard. If every pro made content the game could be bigger but they also don’t make content cuz they hate 343 and the game. Terrible situation. Really hope it improves so many of these channels get more funding and viewers.
I don't think it will happen because 95% of office workers in the U.S. listen to podcasts while "working" the work culture over here is only about doing the bare minimum for the pay so I don't expect a TON of good things to come out of the entertainment industry. The only quality pieces of entertainment I've seen since 2016 are Mandalorian, Dune, XDefiant, Modern Warfare (2019) and a couple other things, even fortnite was bad tbh.
If I recall correctly, HALO 4 wasn't feature-complete either (no saved films / theatre mode in campaign/Spartan Ops until it was added to the MCC version of HALO 4). I think saved films is also still missing in Infinite if you play offline.
Here's how I would do it. 1. Like Phil Spencer notes with other studios. Give the developers full creative freedom. 2. This goes beyond making games, but when you make something for the intent of making money, it's turns into garbage. Make something with passion and for the people and great experiences, you have success. This should be the mission statement of 343i and Microsoft. 3. Completely revamp the store. Everything is play to earn. armor and cosmetics should represent the player in how they have played. This gives players more notoriety and recognition for their dedicated playing time. Now if something isn't earned within the season, then the previous season can be bought with a pass and players can re-attempt at earning their cosmetics. Essentially, the pass alleviates the time constraint. Also, have armor that resides outside of a season but make them very hard to earn. Making them super special. 4. Redo the ranking system. Make it more like Halo 3 but also add the special icons for the highest ranks like in Halo 2. This gives more skill recognition to the players and bring back the intimidation factor to multiplayer. However, remove the rank lock issue that Halo 3 had. 5. Bring all the weapons from the previous halo's back. I know this would make saturate the weapon variety but I believe they can be strategically utilized. Imaging Fiesta with all the weapons. It would be bonkers. Some maps will have certain weapons and some don't. This adds more player customizations with custom games as well as game type variants in multiplayer. Dev's wouldn't have to reinvent the wheel, just make them fit infinite. I could keep going and going but those are some of the things off the top of my head. What do you guys think?
A proper A-symmetrical battlefield game with Marines vs covenant would be heavenly. Even more so with a wide array of playable covenant. People loved playable Elites, lean into the fun.
Wish there were people this dedicated to the offline split screen/LAN game side of the franchise. Infinite's offline multiplayer doesn't function properly, and doesn't allow the use of 'guest' profiles, meaning it's less accessible or able to be picked up easy. And it sucks because it means I can't set up a match in my living room when my younger siblings or other friends/family visit. At least MCC has that feature, but I wish that 343 would give that side of the fanbase more care, especially so future generations can enjoy Halo the way many of us did back in the day.

Exactly.

MCC was a huge disappointment. Didn’t get any love for 6 years. Still no mods for console. It was a miss.
To add on that it wasn’t even 343s game and they still ended up screwing the pooch.

The difference between Bungie and 343 is, 343 is invested in making a game, and Bungie was invested in telling a story.
That's sort of why I disagree with Mint's take on making several games at the same time. We already have games being made, we just don't have genuine and well thought out stories being written.

Imagine a free roam Halo with a quest system of missions and side missions instead of quests. You could pick whether you’re a Spartan, any alien species, marine, ODST, or even a civilian or insurgent. It would be very interesting to be able to play a Halo game like that, don’t you think?
Halo is so versatile, it could have games of all different genres
I really hope they can utilise it properly
its not the matter of who its the matter of them?
we just need mircosofts backing to allow a multi studio alliance in order to build halo games like they are building weapons in a factory. (but ofc to the fans enjoyment and not for greed)
That hunter launch at 3:33 was straight out of the Halo Legends sequel we're 100% never getting. Absolutely absurd.

My two Halo concepts ive been holding onto for a while are
1: An ODST horror game where you combat Flood.
Not as bad as the road Assassin's Creed took but it almost feels like it's going that way
@@inertial_salmon
343 made it sweaty by listening to the complaints by UA-camrs like Mint Blitz and Hidden Xperia and eSports players, who have always pushed for PC crossplay, mouse and keyboard support, having precision starting weapons instead of the AR etc.

Games need competition. It pushes innovation and passion.
You could have a 3rd person adventure game about a human scientist exploring a forerunner installation.

Fireteam Raven kicks ass, i don't understand why it can't be ported into VR as a rail shooter or even fleshed out as an ODST experience
Message to Mint Blitz: LET GO, LET THIS GAME DIE. THIS IS WHAT YOU GET FOR SHILLING. THEY DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT YOUR MESSAGE.
Update MCC MS, for Chief's sake!
