My god what a memory i have with this track. In 1989 i was a dj and was sending out demo's of my sets to basically everyone that wanted to send me music...I had some great responses too from some very good labels and dance artists back then which were up and coming. Names like Bigshot Records, Transmat and Nugroove etc were sending me stuff to play with a form to fill out about how well did the track performed and was it popular imo and did it get a good crowd response..One of the track i got sent was this accompanied with a letter that was written in Japanese/Chinese and did not know what it said. I accidentally disgarded and lost it amongst all the other tracks i was being sent...I tuned into pirate radio back then religiously to hear the latest tunes being released in London at that time. They then said they were looking for dj's and left a number to call...I called it straight away and was asked to come to the station and do a show..I was over the moon!! I arrived at the station and was nervous as hell as i'd never spoken to anyone over air before...I put my headphones on, cued the track and pressed play on the decks.. I wanted to be different and not play what everyone else was playing, so.....the first track i pulled out of my record bag was this track....I knew from listening to pirate radio that no one was playing this. I thought yes, this is my first track and i'm gonna be brave and play it...I kid you not, the station phone pager number was going mental. Messages from listeners asking the name and also to give it a rewind...I did...they absolutely loved this track...Omg i was sooooo happy i could have cried lol....After the show the management were really impressed and i got a permanent slot. They did actually ask what was the first track i played and i said it was a track called Sun Shower by Nami Shimada and i had correspondence when i received it bit lost it so had no idea how to reply back to the sender lol.... 35 years after it's initial release i'm still playing it in 2024 and always goes down a treat to a dancing crowd...What a beautiful track this is...One of the best house tracks i've ever heard...The magic is not in the language its sung it, but the sound of the melody in her voice and how she sings it...That's the key and why it has an edge over other house tracks sung in English and can easily fit into a Chicago house set with ease.. Bravo Nami Shimada, a real diamond of a dance tune that will never ever ever EVER lose it's sparkle as far as i'm concerned! ❤❤❤
It's a very unique track. Japan was just getting into house music, so Soichi Terada teamed up with the idol Nami Shimada to make one of the first Japanese vocal house tracks. The 90's that followed would see a bunch of electronic music idols (Utada Hikaru, Ayumi Hamasaki). Mr. Terada would later go on to work on many video game OSTs, such as Ape Escape (through which he basically started the whole Japanese jungle/DnB scene). The relatively advanced Japanese synthesizer market helped him get some really fat bass sounds, now a staple in Deep House. They were pioneers; ahead of their time.

literally 1000s of songs similar to this. My itunes is crammed with about 3000 Japanese vocal songs, and I have no idea how many non-vocal Japanese songs I have. Not to mention, I dig songs from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia.. and other parts of Asia too. My fav., especially for 80s Asian music will always be Japanese though, they put the most money and effort into it, so naturally....

Geri Jokub I think he means hes an electronic artist referring himself that hes from south korea and commenting either this is good music or hes self promoting that himself makes good music?
My favorite part of the song was everything

Even if you raise VOLUME
Not enough
Fashionable refrain
It seems to be sucked
Summer-colored DJ from car radio
Take me hot
SEA SIDE
Step on the accelerator
Dazzling he
Because it gets a lot of attention
I'm in trouble
From the sunroof
In the wind that jumps in
Shake your hair to your heart
DANCING
Head straight to the sea
FREEWAY
Jump over the horizon
BRAND NEW SUMMER
ON THE BEACH
Freshly transparent
SUMMER ON THE
BEACH
I'm going to catch them
Newborn summer angel
Don't hide in the clouds
Pretending to be offended
Don't turn sideways
I was sleeping
It's not a translation
I closed my eyes and just thought
Bring his chest to his cheeks !!
I LOVE YOU
Naughty chest signal
Now it changes to the color of the blue sky
BRAND NEW SUMMER
ON THE BEACH Shining
Shiny SUMMER ON
THE BEACH
The same lines as when I dreamed
Crack in the ear
"I like you"
Freshly transparent
SUMMER ON THE
BEACH
I'm going to catch them
Newborn summer angel
Don't hide in the clouds
naughty chest signal = cleavage? lmao
