So interesting that you turned from an extrovert person to an introvert. I was always an introvert person and that will probably never change. Culture, language, people and food were always my biggest interest while travelling. I never really cared much about partying. No matter if I was in my 20s or 30s. What I agree with you is that my understandig of comfort has changed in my 30s. Unfortunatly, my budget is still small, but I try to make the best out of it.

In my 20s with no kids, I drove and stayed with friends for free. Then married with kids so we loved traveling for them. Our best memories! Now, I am United/Bonvoy and travel for shorter periods with a nice budget. I want to continue that, but I crave solo travel. I camp with my sister. Now I want an RV. I kayaked by myself for the first time this week and I spoke to about 5-6 people. I love your channel and your spirit!!!!

great tips, I have also change a lot, I am in my mid 40´s and now do hostels when I travel alone, BUT when the "too many people" sindrom gets to me, I just go to a hotel and do an all inclusive day. Time I have much less, and money is a bit better now, however I value more or less the same, culture, photography, people. The good thing about being older is that you are the "father" of the doorm and even get ask for the "what should we do now" moments.... so funny.
Thanks for your videos! love them all!!

You should do an adjacent video for things young people should do or know if they want to solo travel. I’m your age but I feel like the younger gens could learn from your experience

this was so interesting to watch! I’m 21 and did my first solo trip in europe for 5 weeks a little bit ago. I’m ready to do more solo trips! I feel like the way you described travelling in your 20s exactly describes me and my travel goals right now lol.

This is such an interesting and insightful video, thank you so much! 🤗
It is funny how it goes almost the opposite direction for me though. After travelling only with my family and partner before, I started off being very shy during my first few solo travel experiences after the age of 25. I would prefer to stay in private rooms rather than shared accommodations and I appreciated comfort (and enough sleep...😅) more than I do now. Now that I'm 29, I became much more extroverted and open to new fun experiences, friendships and challenges.
But I guess it's kind of a mix because I always seek nature and solitude as well as the parties and I've always been a spiritual person.
It is so amusing how our style of travel evolves with us and it says so much about our inner world too 🌍

I have some friends who are the same way! That’s great that traveling has empowered you to become more outgoing and to enjoy meeting new people. It has that power as well!

Lovely video! I related to so much of it. I'm 45 now and I've gone full homebody and prefer not to travel at all just for the sake of it (I still love to go places to meet friends or for courses or events, though)... would much rather be where I am, connecting with the community around me and working on my projects. It helps that I live in a different country from where I grew up, I guess, but I wonder if the travel bug will come back... let's see! Thanks for the thoughtful video!

I can relate to so many of these, especially accommodations! I didn't travel solo much in my 20s but I've noticed that my travel style has evolved a lot as I've gotten older and I'm perfectly OK with it too!

I loved learning and hearing about your experiences, it's an inspiration. I travel but mostly for work, traveling in your 30s is much more for relaxation and quiet right? :) Thought I might also share a good travel carry-on bag you can consider on your future travels. It's the Bento Bag from Nomad Lane. It's very functional and a good carry-on on travels ❤🥰

Thank you for this video and for the tips on your website, they are useful.
I'm planning to do a round the world trip in my mid thirties. I'm still considering if it would be better for me to do let's say 9-12 months with a confortable budget (private rooms, organized transportation...) or extend it to 18 months and thus booking more shared rooms in hostels and less comfort.
While I did party and made international friends in my 20s (without traveling for a long period of time), I'm afraid to feel now in my mid thirties out of place in hostels due to age difference and not being so fresh to have fun all the time.
So maybe this world trip will make me come back to my old self and feeling like 25 at times or it would confirm that I don't fit anymore into the "carpe diem" mentality of the 20s and seek my own self improvement during the trip at a relaxed and comfy pace (but I'm afraid I'll get bored if I travel alone that way as less solo travelers to chat with in the medium - high end range).

Well since you have at least 9 months, why not a mix of both? You have the luxury to choose now ;)

I'm planning a trip to Tahiti to swim with the whales and I was wondering if you have any contacts for accommodations that are eco-friendly and locally ran? Any other details you'd be willing to share would be awesome. Have a good day!

Agree with it all. I also find that my packing habits have changed; I don’t want to carry a backpack so I bring a suitcase, and if I’m bringing a suitcase I’d prefer to check it, so why does it have to be carry-on sized?

    • @Bemytravelmuse
      @Bemytravelmuse  2 роки тому

That’s a really good point! I used to only have carry-on luggage and that has changed big time.

I've been travelling solo since i was 19 from when i was a student to my early 40s. but I'm an extrovert, very exuberant and flamboyant (in a straight male way, not gay way!) When I walk into a bar, club, restaurant I walk in head high, shoulders back, chest out and I walk in like I own the place always have always will. I can talk to the lowest of society to the highest in society and obviously although now 43 i still meet and have success with women, and have never left a nightclub or bar on my own whilst travelling. I've walked out of places with women within the age range of ages 21-42 and having them was always great for me and even more so for them . I had a 24 year old and a 40 year old just the other week when I travelled to Portugal. I not an overly confident and self assured person, I just live everyday with the attitude that I can do whatever I put my mind to and no one is better or worse than me, not even God. Travel with that attitude and you'll smash it Everytime.
