It stands to mention that a lot of what we know about Poe comes from an autobiography written by someone who absolutely despised him. It would be like reading a book about you written by your worst enemy. The cousin thing, though… 😬
I enjoyed this one. Two very amazing authors! As always you are great! Can't wait for the next one. May I suggest Shakespeare vs. Doctor Seuss? I know I have suggested a few lol. But I think you might enjoy it. 💙😊
I feel like they missed a few opportunities with this one as I'd have liked to have seen actual references to Poe's stories (Murders of the Rue Morgue, Cask of Amontillado, The Black Cat), maybe a William Wilson reference as King is a horror symmetrical Poe. Also, Poe had a lot of work from his routine style (The Gold Bug, Balloon Hoax, MS. in a Bottle). The issue is they did the fast rap in the second verse and the content was weak in the lyrics. My complaint is that King clearly won whereas if approached differently Poe would have stronger insults and references over a speed run in trochaic octameter. Could've brought other horror legends in such as Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker & H.P. Lovecraft. The battle was great, just felt like many missed opportunities.
8:02 Nah this one just goes harder than I remembered. If you're gonna do a speed rap you've gotta make sure you've got some good rhymes and alliteration and stuff in there, and this one knocked that out of the park. They also had quite the collection of digs on both ends, so it felt fair too. This one just slaps.
Actually that's seven references King makes to his own books-Rage which he wrote as Richard Bachman, Misery, Running Man is another Richard Bachman, "fangs _Shining_ " as in The Shining, Cujo, " _Tommyknock_ you down..." as in The Tommyknockers, and "til you can't _Stand_ up" and I think The Stand is actually his most lengthy book ever
In the Tell-Tale Heart the heart under neath the floor is not the one beating , its the murderers. He thinks the person its alive and it drives him to confess the crime Atte; a Poe fan
On ERB2, which is their behind the scenes channel, they have something called flash in the pan hip hop conflicts of nowadays. Larry Bird vs Big Bird is kind of fun.
6:19 - Nothing is known for sure, but many people think that Poe only married his young cousin so she could qualify for his medical benefits because she was seriously ill and her mother couldn't afford the care she needed. They believe the marriage was never actually consummated.
love your videos! wondering if you can react to Dan Bull - Civilization rap? it's beyond DEEP! you will love it, and i'm dying to see your reaction, and hear your opinion on it.
@@sunflowergeek PRECISELY! it's honestly so good... i'm not even going to try explain it, i'll just go on a really nerdy rant. but you gotta check it out ;)
I must say, watching you geek out to the references that King and Poe made was delightful.
Aw haha I’m glad you enjoyed!!😍
Kings got no room to talk about addiction. In the 70's and 80s he loved his coke and I don't mean to drink.
But otherwise he was pretty brutal lol
Weirdly enough, they got some bars about that in Joker vs. Pennywise.
If you notice he says “theres a melancholy alcoholic laughingstock, in the KINGS house”. he makes a joke about his own addiction
He also wrote about an underrage gang bang scene so he has no right to talk about poe marrying his cousin to financially support her.
Also, in early 2000's, he was hit by a car and subsequently became addicted to painkillers which fueled him writing Dreamcatcher
Well…. King didn’t overdose and die so he’s got room to talk…
I'm upset I haven't found this channel sooner because this reaction was great and funny
Omg thank you! 🥰🥰🥰
I can't take the line alcoholic laughing stock serious because king did so much blow that he does not remember full years at a time
I'm only just now discovering your channel (3 years after you've made this 😅) but I absolutely love your content. 😊
Ironic to be hearing someone named SunflowerGeek saying that darkness is their friend.
😎 I am mysterious being
I love that there’s a hidden joke… king gets more time because he has SO MUCH work lol

This was pretty fun. What's your favorite work of Stephen King?
Oh, definitely IT, it was a childhood movie I loved and my first introduction to King. The book is so captivating!!
I’m so glad this popped up in my recommended. But I’m even more glad that there is a whole playlist of these for me to binge through.
😁
Love how excited you were on the SK verse! I'm also an SK fan❤️, loved the reaction!
Thank you so much!! Yeah he’s an amazing author for sure!!

Just discovered your channel! Good stuff! Keep it up!
Thank you so much!!
Your reactions are priceless!!
Love the vids keep up the good work
Thank you!!
Yes, ERB's are always so much more fun when you know the characters involved.
Watsky and Zach Sherwin are crazy good on their own. They have another collab called "No E" that's inanely well written and done.
On ERB2, which is their behind the scenes channel, they have something called flash in the pan hip hop conflicts of nowadays. Larry Bird vs Big Bird is kind of fun.
Oooo I will absolutely check that out!
You missed the Castle Rock reference, but caught the others
First video of yours I've found. Look for me going thru your erb playlist

Damn your kinda a geek...and I love it!
Now we need one with Stephen king Vs M Night Shyamalan
love your videos!

@@coreymuir7319 okay! That sounds awesome!
@@sunflowergeek you should totally record that reaction today in my opinion. Trust me, i'm a professional youtube commenter Sunny ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
@@sunflowergeek You really should check it out. Epic rap inspired by that game and the history of civilization
I'm surprised you didn't catch the "Castle Rock" and "Shining" references.
Great reaction, my favourite book was The mist.
Thank you!! That’s def a good one
why don't you ever pick a winner though? that's part of the thing! that's the rules!! pick a favorite, watch it, pick a winner!
Decisions are hard for me 😅 I shall try to choose if I can in future ones!!
I'm sure King was influenced by Poe's work,if Poe and King hung out, they might of even did some lines together...ahhhh Coke between the lines
Two author titans clashing is the more correct title
Have you done Sherlock Holmes vs Batman?
Oooo I haven’t!!! That sounds like a good one to check out!
Not my absolute favorite but it was at least written well like usual
GREAT REACTION EDGAR ALLAN POE DEFINITELY WON THAT BATTLE
Oooo I think I agree
Personally, I think King won. Poe put up a damn good fight, but damn did you hear that constant machine gun flow of magnificent disses and raps?
@@flynnscommentary9353 He had more lines which is just unfair.
@@rpgfanatic9719 Most of it was just name dropping books. But in the case of their highlights? King won
@@p_cuda9717 I can't think of a highlight between them other than poe being a more talented rapper.
King smoked him! Wasn’t close
react to freshy kanal!
You should watch it all the way through and quit pausing
