My mom died of cancer when I was 38. people would say “she lost her battle with cancer” and I hated that. If someone dies of a heart attack you don’t hear “he lost his battle with his arteries” or if they’re in a car wreck “he fought hard but that GMC finally got him” We aren’t designed to fight our own bodies or this life. We simply live and somehow, someday, cease. She didn’t win or lose anything. It was simply Gods timing. Not a curse for me to fear, fix or try to prevent. All of this to say, thank you for discussing the reality of death. It’s refreshing for those of us who get it. ❤

I have lost most my family to cancer. I like to think they won the battle with cancer because that damn cancer no longer has a body to leach of off. It's like cancer is a home invader that lost its home.
I am so sorry you lost your Mom I know that pain. I hope my comment doesn't offend you, for some reason it makes me feel better seeing it this way.❤

Lisa Marie's struggles with low self-esteem and self-loathing are understandable, given the traumatic events she endured as a child. The abuse she suffered at the hands of her mother's boyfriend, who was supposed to protect her, likely had a lasting impact on her self-worth. Despite this, Lisa has found her voice and should be heard and supported. Her daughter, Riley, is a testament to Lisa's strength and resilience, as well as the positive influence of her dad Danny.

First time listener here. I'd never even heard of this podcast but I'm a fan of Riley so I tuned in. Lauryn asked some fantastic questions. As a viewer, I appreciate that she took the time to read the book and could ask questions that weren't superficial. Lisa Marie had some tough breaks in her life but it's clear that she was a good mama to her babies because Riley seems like a well rounded, thoughtful, intelligent young woman. It's interesting hearing that Lisa Marie never thought that she was beautiful and that she was insecure because in the 90s she projected the opposite to me. I was young but I always thought she was gorgeous and confident esp around the time she was with Michael Jackson. She was radiant.. I always believed they loved each other because she always looked so happy. I know she'd be very proud of Riley.

Riley is so grounded and intelligent. Exceptional Interview. My mom was a hardcore Elvis fan. I have memories of listening to my mom's Elvis vinyl records with her, we loved Teddy Bear. Another memory is my mom had one show that she watched - only one and that was Dallas - I would beg her to let me stay up with her. We loved watching Priscilla on Dallas. One of my favorite memories with my mom was when we visited Graceland in 1992, my mother loved Graceland and being there felt truly magical. I followed Lisa Marie Presley my entire life and always thought, "Wow, she's fearless and it seems like she has so much fun." 💗💗💗

I lost my husband and mother back to back. I lost my husband very unexpectedly to suicide, and I found him, left widowed with 5 children. Just 4 weeks later, my mother was diagnosed with terminal brain and lung cancer, so my first in shock months of grief as a widow with PTSD was being thrown into end of life care, while getting 5 children through the grief of a parent. It was a blur. I'm surprised I survived. The children are doing well now, but the grief and PTSD for me has been hell. We put ourselves processing aside to care for our kids. The worst is the severe anxiety that one of my children will be thinking of suicide or suddenly develop a tumor and I won't catch it in time, like I missed it with my husband and my mother, which sounds crazy, but that's my daily life.

Thank you Riley for being authentic- I know you will do good things with your talent and gifts. I can’t wait to return to Graceland. I went for the first time July 2019. At the beginning of the tour I was struck when watching the black and white film clips of Elvis and realized that MJ used many of Elvis dance moves! My daughter and I had a great time. Ali’s exhibit was there as well. I look forward to following your career-you are a natural!

No one owns dance moves. people borrow from each other. a LOT of people borrowed from Elvis, a lot of people borrowed from Michael Jackson, Michael borrowed from many people too. yes, Michael borrowed from Elvis too, and he was a huge fan of his father in law. He was an inspiration. All that said, Michael had a LOT of original moves too. Wrote his OWN music. Did films called music videos. Michael was known more than Elvis, because he traveled, and did concerts in other countries, HUGE packed concerts, all over the World! and MJ was an entertainer almost ALL of his life, since he was a child, starting with J5, which is why he is the GOAT! Elvis was great too. They are the two top Entertainers of all time! (google it, MJ was considered the #1 entertainer of all time, Elvis was second.) Two giants, two Kings. Gave their lives for their music. On the Graceland tour did you see the tree where Michael carved a heart, and put his and Lisa Marie's initials? I love that!

@leahartlee29 What you said isn't true. MJ isn't the greatest entertainer of all time and wasn't more well known than Elvis. Maybe more well known by kids and young adults. I don't see people from all around the world going to see MJ's home. Even if they couldn't take a tour, they could still see the outside of Neverland. You're a huge MJ fan, and that's great, but don't say things that aren't true. Look at how many movies have been made about Elvis and how many books that have been written. The only house which has been visited more than Graceland is the White House. That should tell you something. You need to do more research.

She is so impressive and I just want to say as an Elvis fan of decades now, who's read many books about him, it's obvious that there is a common thread here with Elvis, Lisa, and Riley, where all three have HEART and they truly want to bring people together, especially when it comes to the themes of sorrow, spirituality and healing. She was so sweet and responded so positively despite the awkward dynamic going on with this couple. The tension between them feels so palpable that it sort of bleeds over into the interview at some points. It’s uncomfortable to watch. She really handled herself like a pro. That couldn’t have been easy, especially given the nature of the topic.

Lisa was so much like her father. Ben looked so much like Evis. Lisa had so much sadness in her life. I felt so sad for her.

Awesome video, Riley is just amazing. Any of those partners , still living, will always be there for Riley and those girls. Lisa was amazing and her children are too. You would never know Riley is a huge star. She is so down to earth. I'm proud to share blood with her even if distant. Elvis was my 3rd cousin so that would take mathing lol. She's just a lovely human. ❤

Loved this podcast. I lost my son 4 years ago and I remember people saying things like “when we lost my “brother” my mom was never the same”. These words still haunt me. It’s extremely difficult but I want to be better than the “same” for my son and daughter. Thank you for sharing your mom’s story Riley ❤❤.

Even as normal blue collar family it was just times of what goes on in the home stay in the home. It's our children like Riley's age is a different generation. So I understand her dad's feeling. God bless her and her family, I hear Lisa's voice in some words she says. I loved this podcast

I have to say I tried to get my Dad to write a book. He isn’t famous, but he was a great storyteller. He died several years ago, and there are still days when I go to call him to ask a question, and remember that I can’t.mi still have a voice mail that I listen to when I am really missing him

Lisa would be proud of Riley. Talking about losing a parent. I first lost my dad when he was 52. I can't remember his voice. I would give anything to hear his voice .again. Back then there were no smartphones . So I've no videos of my dad. Then my mum passed away 2011 suddenly and luckily I had plenty of videos , vioicemails etc of her. My two brothers passed away in ear.y 2000s. I can't remember thier voices either. That's what hurts. Loved Lisa and Rileys book. It was sad. .

Riley seems like a very old soul, so put together who will carry on the Presley legacy.
She was, however, incorrect Elvis did appear outside of the U.S.A. , he came to Canada 🇨🇦 he did two shows on April 2, 1957 in Toronto (my hometown), Ottawa, on April 3 (2 shows) and on August 31, 1957 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The book is well worth the read.

I’m man enough to admit this: I never cared for RK before and….idiotically, on my part… it was mostly due to her performance in Daisy Jones and the Six. I found her character to be an awful human being, and someone that I couldn’t bring myself to like at all lol- I had a very hard time suspending disbelieve. Let me put it that way.
Well, if a real man can admit his mistakes, then perhaps I actually am turning into one. I’ve now gone 180 on my opinion; she seems like a very sweet and sincere person, that’s been through quite a bit, and has had the anchor of celebrity family weighing her down since childhood. I actually feel extremely empathetic towards her. Not to mention she does seem very very nice. And at the end of the day, if an actor can make me dislike a person (character) that much it must be a damn good actor.
