    My mom died of cancer when I was 38. people would say “she lost her battle with cancer” and I hated that. If someone dies of a heart attack you don’t hear “he lost his battle with his arteries” or if they’re in a car wreck “he fought hard but that GMC finally got him” We aren’t designed to fight our own bodies or this life. We simply live and somehow, someday, cease. She didn’t win or lose anything. It was simply Gods timing. Not a curse for me to fear, fix or try to prevent. All of this to say, thank you for discussing the reality of death. It’s refreshing for those of us who get it. ❤

      I have lost most my family to cancer. I like to think they won the battle with cancer because that damn cancer no longer has a body to leach of off. It's like cancer is a home invader that lost its home.
      I am so sorry you lost your Mom I know that pain. I hope my comment doesn't offend you, for some reason it makes me feel better seeing it this way.❤

    Lisa Marie's struggles with low self-esteem and self-loathing are understandable, given the traumatic events she endured as a child. The abuse she suffered at the hands of her mother's boyfriend, who was supposed to protect her, likely had a lasting impact on her self-worth. Despite this, Lisa has found her voice and should be heard and supported. Her daughter, Riley, is a testament to Lisa's strength and resilience, as well as the positive influence of her dad Danny.

    First time listener here. I'd never even heard of this podcast but I'm a fan of Riley so I tuned in. Lauryn asked some fantastic questions. As a viewer, I appreciate that she took the time to read the book and could ask questions that weren't superficial. Lisa Marie had some tough breaks in her life but it's clear that she was a good mama to her babies because Riley seems like a well rounded, thoughtful, intelligent young woman. It's interesting hearing that Lisa Marie never thought that she was beautiful and that she was insecure because in the 90s she projected the opposite to me. I was young but I always thought she was gorgeous and confident esp around the time she was with Michael Jackson. She was radiant.. I always believed they loved each other because she always looked so happy. I know she'd be very proud of Riley.

    Thank you Riley for being authentic- I know you will do good things with your talent and gifts. I can’t wait to return to Graceland. I went for the first time July 2019. At the beginning of the tour I was struck when watching the black and white film clips of Elvis and realized that MJ used many of Elvis dance moves! My daughter and I had a great time. Ali’s exhibit was there as well. I look forward to following your career-you are a natural!

      No one owns dance moves. people borrow from each other. a LOT of people borrowed from Elvis, a lot of people borrowed from Michael Jackson, Michael borrowed from many people too. yes, Michael borrowed from Elvis too, and he was a huge fan of his father in law. He was an inspiration. All that said, Michael had a LOT of original moves too. Wrote his OWN music. Did films called music videos. Michael was known more than Elvis, because he traveled, and did concerts in other countries, HUGE packed concerts, all over the World! and MJ was an entertainer almost ALL of his life, since he was a child, starting with J5, which is why he is the GOAT! Elvis was great too. They are the two top Entertainers of all time! (google it, MJ was considered the #1 entertainer of all time, Elvis was second.) Two giants, two Kings. Gave their lives for their music. On the Graceland tour did you see the tree where Michael carved a heart, and put his and Lisa Marie's initials? I love that!

    I lost my husband and mother back to back. I lost my husband very unexpectedly to suicide, and I found him, left widowed with 5 children. Just 4 weeks later, my mother was diagnosed with terminal brain and lung cancer, so my first in shock months of grief as a widow with PTSD was being thrown into end of life care, while getting 5 children through the grief of a parent. It was a blur. I'm surprised I survived. The children are doing well now, but the grief and PTSD for me has been hell. We put ourselves processing aside to care for our kids. The worst is the severe anxiety that one of my children will be thinking of suicide or suddenly develop a tumor and I won't catch it in time, like I missed it with my husband and my mother, which sounds crazy, but that's my daily life.

She said basically she was unsure if Kim K would be considerd by others to somewhat hold a close standard to these days in times. Times are different but ultimately they were saying no one could ever really be that famous again in today's times. She wasn't saying her grandfather was on the same level as Kim.

    • @januarypresley
      @januarypresley 2 дні тому +5

      I've heard her refer to him as "my grandfather" quite a few times but I think when she's speaking about her mother, she gives respect to her to refer to him as "her father" because she wants to make it clear she's talking about the relationship Lisa had with her own father. And when she's referring to fans of Elvis, she calls him Elvis, because he is Elvis to the fans. So she's respectful when talking about him and tailors how she refers to him based on the subject she's talking about. She probably doesn't constantly refer to him as her grandfather cause she didnt have an actual relationship with him to constantly call him that.

      @@nat_TV22 She did, but if you look at pictures of Priscilla's mom, Lisa had her eyes and nose.

    Why does these talk shows have to use the F word all the time. I am a fan Elvis and I would love to watch Riley but I’ll pass on this one.

      You have never heard Lisa or read the book to put such silly statement. Lisa wanted the limelight on them (Elvis and Michael) and not HER.

    Honestly, the comments of how shes not talking more about Elvis, being compared to Elvis or saying things about her own family and then getting called out like shes wrong or not allowed to say certain things lol. Yes, Elvis is amazing but just because Elvis is her grandfather doesnt mean thats all she brings to the table. Shes HER OWN person. Thats exactly what Lisa Marie was trying to protect her from. Riley, you are amazing! A phenomenal actress and an amazing singer. You keep doing you for yourself and your family and keep on being the strong and talented woman you are. ❤

    I feel that way the reason Lisa Marie was married so many times was because she was wanting a love like she and Elvis had and she never ever found it because the love that she and Elvis had was a very very very deep spiritual love and that was hard for her because no one could ever give her that kind of love!!!!! THE LOVE LISA MARIE AND ELVIS SHARED WAS A RARITY!!!

    PRISCILLA WAS ALWAYS JEALOUS OF RILEY BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT ELVIS LOVED LISA MARIE SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH MORE THAN HE DID PRISCILLA AND SO LISA MARIE WASN'T TREATED RIGHT BY PRISCILLA BECAUSE OF HER JEALOUSY!!!!!! PRISCILLA BASICALLY PUT LISA MARIE THROUGH HELL BECAUSE OF HER JEALOUSY!!!!! WITH LISA MARIE BEING THERE AND SEEING HER DAD DEAD THAT WAS TRAUMATIZING ENOUGH BUT THEN SHE HAD TO GO THROUGH WHAT SHE WENT THROUGH WITH PRISCILLA!!!!! TO ME LISA MARIE WAS A LITTLE GIRL LOST!!!! I THINK THAT LISA MARIE NEVER REALLY LIVED HER LIFE AFTER ELVIS DIED SHE WAS JUST GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS OF LIVING HER LIFE!!!!! THE ENTIRE TIME AFTER ELVIS DIED LISA MARIE NEVER LIVED HER LIFE SHE MERELY EXISTED IN IT TRYING TO KEEP ELVIS'S MEMORY ALIVE FOR HIS FANS!!!!!! WHEN ELVIS DIED LISA MARIE'S HEART WAS COMPLETELY BROKEN AND I THINK LISA MARIE DIED MORE FROM A BROKEN HEART THAN ANYTHING!?!!!!! IT HAS BEEN PROVEN THAT YOU CAN DIE OF A BROKEN HEART AS HARD AS IT IS TO BELIEVE!!!

    Julia Roberts read the audio book...??? OMG. And NOT in a good way. Why would anyone want her voice?? This is a very sad family. Elvis was such a great man. It's hard to believe his family fell apart so much. Priscila failed. Benjamin probably could not live up to the legend that was Elvis. Such a waste. And LMP probably put him on such a pedestal. He looked a mess too. On a side note, I cannot help but notice how Lauren is constantly rude to Michael. She cuts him off and says underhanded things to him. Girl, you better hope one day he doesn't just up and leave. Treat him better.
