If a cop protects another cop he's a bad apple too. Throw the bunch away.
I never understood the "it's just one bad apple" defense when the common saying has long been "one bad apple spoils the bunch."
"Good cops" that defend a "bad cop" can't really be all that good. Good cops root out evil and don't ignore corruption. Unfortunately, "the thin blue line" and "protect our own" is a form of peer pressure that works directly against this sort of self-correction. It's a culture that allows stagnation.
A lot of officers join for good reasons and do a difficult job well. Not all police are bad but that doesn't mean the system doesn't need improvement. Not having to deal with 'bad apples' would benefit good cops as much as it would benefit society.
You don't have to defend bad cops to support local police and you don't have to hate all police to fight for a better system.
@@MichaelDerryGameitect I wanted to say "one bad apple spoils the bunch"...
Anyway, you said it all. Sure there are good cops out there that are trying their best but just the incentives in policing create a system that will make someone a bad apple. If I make a company and I award people for doing terrible things then I'm going to create an environment that makes people do bad things more often, people who would normally not do these things but see they get shit on for doing the right thing and others get rewarded for doing bad things.
I don't know what people expect given the incentives surrounding police and DAs. I'm sure some DAs are great people but given that in over 50% of all wrongful conviction cases there was prosecutorial misconduct we can safely say the SCOTUS decisions to grant prosecutors immunity to grotesque and monstrous misconduct, like forging evidence, hiding evidence that would prove innocence, coercing confessions, lying, etc has caused prosecutors to follow this behavior due to there being no negative consequences to them, only positive consequences. If he loses his case it hurts his record but if he convicts and innocent man and nobody finds out it helps his record and if someone finds out it might not even hurt his record anyway.

The term racism has been so over-used it has no meaning anymore.
Wow takes them 1 whole year to release bodycam footage😂🤦♂️😭
How is that a racist in any way?
People throw the word racist left and right and the word lost its value.
Why people thought it was racist
- Cop was nice to white people moving throughout. He attacked him instantly. Yet he kept assaulting Masai even after he said he was the President and showed his badge.
- Other White people were let down without showing any badges!
- Used racist dog whistle language in his suit. Claimed that the Raptors organization should have warned him about Masais “violent predisposition and propensity for physical violence”.
- His department stood by him the entire time despite having the footage. Said they 100% stood by Masai being the aggressor ruining his reputation! This is the same department that retweeted a tweet by a white nationalist!
@@thezu9250 or the cop knew who exactly this person is and wanted to stage all of this for money?

Kinda sus how he targeted a black man, but yeah you could say it’s just a coincidence cause I can’t really prove he’s 100% racist
@@fatherpucci6097 exactly what o was thinking, I think it's about a 60% chance it was related to race

For those that wanna knownthe outcome. The case was dropped. The cop and wife filed a dismissal. Apparently the cop went back to work, but only on administrative duties.
This very well could have been racially motivated but you didn’t give any evidence that the cop was directly being racist towards Masai, he was just assaulting him.?
He mentioned the cop cussing him out, maybe he was racist there.
Theres a huge push to paint cops as racists. Where have you been? This is clearly propaganda.
@@jemandanderes7075 then he should've said that. We can't (and shouldn't) just assume racism when something happens between people of different races. That's incredibly dangerous.
I dunno man... Why else go to all that trouble? Blocking him is one thing but lying and suing after that? Maybe there were other motivators. It's best to eliminate the reasons the cop DIDN'T have for doing that till we come to the ones he did

Ofc they INSTANTLY jumped to race. What if Masai was ACTUALLY breaking the rules? I don’t know a lot about the NBA so I’m not sure what the rules are regarding that, but I don’t think we should immediately jump to race

Agreed, not all cops are bad. My brother is a cop. But the bad cops that are abusing their power and authority need to be held accountable for their actions and not protected by the department. That's what people have an issue with
Same my dad's also a cop but we're outside of the US so imo the Acab shit doesn't apply to us, I've only heard Americans say it.
@@grqfes I understand why people say things like ACAB and believe it. Some people have only ever had negative experiences with police and we can't fault them for that. That's their personal experience and we can't tell them they are wrong because they lived it. What exactly about this is “racist” did he call him the n word or comment on him being black? Or is it just because it’s a cop and black man you automatically assume it’s about race?
Racism doesn't have to be explicit, it can be implicit as well.
The cop assumed that he wasn't supposed to be there. Then tried to blame him for throwing punches, when he didn't. Why do you think he'd assume he wasn't supposed to be there, or think he'd get away with accusing him of violence?
@@TheSOHO92 If you apply racism to a situation like this then you are the one making assumptions, it could very well be that he’s racist, but for you to assume that’s the cause without any proof is wrong. You can’t attribute race to something that doesn’t outwardly express it, if you think about it you’re actually being racist by attributing that as his motive because that means you have preconceived notions of how people view other races, which in itself is racist
@@fehmuh It may be less obvious to you, because you haven't experienced it. Once or twice is a coincidence, repeated frequently it becomes a pattern.
Repeatedly being asked where you are from, after telling them the city and state where I grew up,
Repeatedly being asked what sport team I was on at college, when I never wore a jersey,
being repeatedly selected for "random screening" at the airport,
Police pulling over and asking why I'm on "this side of town" a block from my childhood home,
People complementing my white biological mom for adopting, on multiple occasions,
People asking my black dad how much he charged, whilst he mowed his own lawn,
That is by no means a complete list. These were assumptions that other people made, not me. Their prejudice at play, not mine. Then people call me racist when I bring it up.
