Edge of Tomorrow is my best movie in 2014! Tom is always my best actor! And Emily!!, I just fell in love with her, she has just become my best actress!
The soundtrack just killed it. When I came out of the theater, I was singing the song again and again while recalling the events in the movie. So I decided to compile this video to show the love for the movie and the song!
Movie Synopsis
Lt. Col. Bill Cage is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously demoted and then dropped untrained and ill-equipped into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. Cage is killed within minutes, managing to take an Alpha down with him. But, impossibly, he awakens back at the beginning of the same hellish day and is forced to fight and die again and again. Direct physical contact with the alien has thrown him into a time loop dooming him to live out the same brutal combat over and over.
But with each pass, Cage becomes tougher, smarter, and able to engage the Mimics with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski, who has lain waste to more Mimics than anyone on Earth. As Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated battle becomes an opportunity to find the key to annihilating the alien invaders and saving the Earth.

I'm so sad that marketing for this film sucked so hard. I just saw it now and it is one of the very few films I would give a perfect score of 100%, it's just executed so well and concludes so perfectly and this song was so perfect to sum it up

Sheer perfection! Hard to believe this song was NOT made for the movie. Both are awesome!
I had no idea it wasn't made for the movie; this blows my mind, especially given the lyrics fit like a glove ("They bring down angels like you" and "rising from the ground"); genius song choice.
When things are meant to be, they are meant to be.
Beautiful, meaningful things on the side of what is good do connect.
Only in evil is their random, casual, callous chaos.
Of course, this song (like the movie) epitomises good versus evil, with repeat direct or between-the-lines references in the lyrics here to angels, demons, souls, rising again.
The main message refers to renewed spiritual strength (after previous sinful failure) that allows the fight to be taken to the enemy.
While Tom Cruise plays CAGE, she is Rita = meaning "PEARL" and Vrataski (being more or less a Slav word for "GATE")
The "mimics" come as Alpha and Omega, giving a very strong strong false-God/antiChrist vibe.
But the angel achieves a victory at Verdun (meaning the strong fort).
Of course the renewed offensive is led by a General (from Ireland - beautiful touch) called Brigham - the safe homestead that also provides the bridge!
Sergeant Farell has a surname meaning "man of valour"
But the fake alpha and omega are defeated - obviously enough - by J Squad (J for Jesus). The location is at the Louvre (place of the wolf - wolf in the clothing of the sheep - again a reference to somebody pretending to be Christ)
Through the blood of this alien antichrist a person can never die but is also trapped and doomed, albeit given progressively greater chances of redemption through learning.
Squad members include Takeda (= field of battle), Montgomery (mountain with the power of a man), Nance/Nancy (meaning favour and grace), Kuntz (the bold or crafty advisor), Skinner (someone who removes skin or hide), Kimmel (meaning sower or provider of seeds), Griff (the fierce fighting lord or chief) and Ford (the place where the water can be crossed).

Yep they bought the story from a manga "All You Need Is Kill" I never actually read the manga or read much of them but my friend said he hates this movie never even seeing it but cuz they copied it. I watched this movie, and it was truly fantastic.
A lot of great movies come from great stories if they don't change it or ruin it too much that is..
The writer for "All you need is Kill" was at the Comic-con panel they held for this movie, and everyone applauded him. Tell your friend about that. Tom Cruise himself stood up and clapped when they announced the guy.

Let me explain the ending to those who don't understand. Bill (Tom Cruise) is the only one who knows he and Rita (Emily Blunt) ended the war. Everyone else thinks it was a joint effort. Bill smiles in the end because now that he's back to being a general, she still greets him rudely like she did the first time when he was a nobody. Her gritty and blunt (pun intended) personality is one of the reasons Bill fell in love with her. He also now has to explain to her that they single handedly ended the war by themselves. I'm sure she believes him when he tells her, because she also held the reset power before and helped win the war in Verdunne. The only question we are left with though, is will she love him back when he tells her they fell in love during their journey to destroy the Omega. Not sure, but I think he was given the reset power again in the end, and will reset the day until she believes him and they fall in love. This movie was too good. RIP Bill Paxton :(
nope he didnt get back his reset powers in the end, only the Omega can reset the day, so the last reset was omega getting desperate as it dies.

Just finished the movie! What a movie! What a song! Second underrated sci-fi movie in a row for Cruise, following Oblivion, which was also brilliant! People need to get over their Cruise bias 'cause the guy makes really fun, intelligent, action/sci-fi films. Who cares if he's nuts in real life; what matters is that he puts out good product!

I don't care how crazy Tom Cruise is the man makes a ton of entertaining movies! Edge of Tomorrow, Oblivion, War of the Worlds, Knight and Day, Mission Impossible, Jack Reacher, Top Gun, Minority Report, Jerry Maguire, etc). I can't imagine growing up without these movies!
This is what Starship Troopers was supposed to look like. Brilliant.
Great movie on every level! It can stand with any alien invasion movie on that level, but there are also subtleties in the main character that very few actors could bring out, Tom being one of them.

Nah. I think this concept is best as a stand alone. But I will say that we severely need more of this creativity, tension and humor in our television and movies now. I just saw it and it is now in my list of top movies. The stakes are raised high at the end, but all that training and resetting at the beginning is funny and light-hearted.

Best sci-fi ever.
I was suffering from viral fever some 4 years back and my friend was also suffering from the same, next day we had our semester exam it was already 4:00pm and we were not in state even To attend the exam. Just for refreshment our other friend played this movie in his laptop and we were hooked, we forgot everything by the time the clock struck 7:00pm we both were better than ever. We were talking about the movie for another 2-3 hours.
We made it to exams and after coming from the exam hall we were discussing this movie rather than our exam paper.
It's damn good, it makes u forget everything and will get u hooked.
The ending was mesmerizing because he knew what he had to do this time around since he made it to the end but will she still love him again?? can he replicate those same events? then the song comes on and hits hard.. I'm a gamer so this reminded me of playing a game lol dying and learning from your mistakes... Interesting concept even if other movies did it, the way they executed makes me want it to never end

lol at the ending I almost shit myself when he woke up in the helicopter, I'm like "omg, please don't tell me he has to do all of that all over again" lol, so glad it worked out differently from my initial thought. I was thinking that either he had to kill the omega all over again through the same method, or with his job back again find some way to convince someone in the high ranks to do it.....which would've been a really sucky ending lol.

Husband was watching this movie in the other room. I was doing something else. THEN THIS SONG PLAYED at the end of the movie and I rushed in to hear it. This song got ME to sit down and watch a shoot'em up flick I actually enjoyed.
