More on the sanitary prep, what it takes to land a sanitary job, stainless pipe elbows and what it takes to weld those out.

I have done a fair amount of sanitary piping. Some of the contractors I worked for, used helium as a shield gas for TIG welding in their welding procedure. It works better than argon in my opinion.

Id like to learn more about sanitary welding. How too's and what the machine is and the settings. And Id love to watch you get all your practice in to watch your learning curve.

Jake I recommend using a furick jazzy 10 cup with furick gas lense and 3/32 tungsten. Also the times I’ve welded sanitary we used 1/16 316 wire and don’t walk the cup just lay wire and run it over

One thing to note on the cut blocks, try and make sure your bandsaw blade rides right one side or the other in the cut block or it’ll make it so you will have a gap. Especially if you’re using 2 pieces that have both been cut that way.

Try using a fupa 12 ceramic cup bud, it’ll help 💯💯

I'd love to weld some sanitary with you guys. I've laid some sanitary down before. I like to run about 40-45 amps on .065, puts a nice color on it.

    Try 47 amps and 14chf.
Also screw your cup on and grind a notch on the bottom side. Keeps that weave real tight.

I've always set my machine to 45 amps, and it's more than enough. A tig switch would come in handy for tapering off on your welds

  • @stevemathis1010

You’re purge is extremely important! It doesn’t “just” keep it from sugaring, it creates STATIC pressure. To much pressure, the weld will balloon out, too little pressure, it will sink in on you. You don’t need fancy diffusers just remember the size of your ID purge hose and tape and poke one hole at the end slightly smaller ID than the argon hose hole where the argon is coming in. This end hole is what creates slight pressure or less pressure. Tape all tacked joints. I’d also invest in a facer that mills the end of your cuts for perfect joints and a purge meter.

One last thing. On 2 inch like that i run 35 amps fire up and hold for about 3-5 seconds or until you see the puddle start to spin then start walking. Also it is a cheat code if you notch the cup

how about a 6010/7018 heavy wall weld test

the thumb or finger rheostats for tig torch’s aren’t always practical, but definitely come in handy if your making bench welds/pre-fab. Let’s you dial that arc back so you don’t have to worry about tailing out so aggressively and pulling a “b-hole”.

(WBD = written by Dan, Jake's editor) We've discussed making some videos that way as well as making an actual online course people can purchase to learn to get started and such. IF we made an actual course, is that something you think you or others might benefit from and actually get? If you knew it would help you improve your skills and land more jobs? Just curious.

@JacobSchofield oh defiantly I've been in the oil and gas industry for 13 years. I've been a helper and a pipefitter and have gained alot more knowledge from your videos. Now I'm a lease operator but I like to weld on the side. Seeing welding from another prospective or how to fit even is always good knowledge bro. I appreciate your videos keep them coming, stay busy and be blessed 🙌

Wouldn’t a bigger cup help with outside oxidation? It’s still glowing red when the cup is past the puddle. I use a 12 on ss plate, why not on ss tube also?

You need to be able to walk nice in tight. Big cup would make it hard.. Its still glowing xuase hes at 70 which is a bit hot.

I need tips on welding with 308 rods on stainless pipe. Any suggestions?

    • @sn95_capo32
      @sn95_capo32 4 місяці тому

      Run it hot
      Only run stringer beads
And don’t re use a rod right after you did a weld with it , just grab a new 1

WBD - we are working on getting better mics and such. But the channel is coming out of hibernation and doesnt make anywhere near as much as ituse to through adsense so financing for new gear is slow unless we get more members and more watchtime basically.
