Nice reaction! They captured Vader's rage very nicely in choreography, which would have been the case very much in the fight. No intricate saber work, just brutal power and hate at what Obi-wan represented and reminded him of what was lost. Pretty epic stuff!
This is an awesome reaction. I'm a lifelong starwars fan (old enough to remember watching the original at the cinema with my Pops). I only saw this vid for the first time a few weeks ago. Now I want to see folks reactions to it, so I know that I'm not a traitor for loving it. It blew my mind at how good it was. It was so nice to see genuine fans enjoying it as much as I did. That gave me goose bumps! That looks AMAZING! My biggest fear though, is are they going to stick to Cannon.... Anyhow. I'm rambling on lol. It's a an absolute pleasure for me, to interact with folks who understand the message that Lucas was trying to share. ❤
I love this so much, it was done so well. Also them adding the voices from the prequels just adds so much to the moment. I would seriously suggest that you watch Vader: Shards of the Past. I think you'll enjoy it. All the best to both of you.
Compared to the technology of back then, this can be considered a masterpiece within the series. The fight was pretty much an artistic piece, and the visual effects were naturally way, WAY better than back then. I love Star Wars, man..... The Force will be with us, always.
This really was amazing. I love their attention to the original and the voice overs. Gorgeous. Also I agree with your thoughts on Gandalf. In the book he was way more Wizard with fireballs and exploding power and growing huge etc.
It was beautifully done, with them trying to blend the old scenes with the new and trying to stay loyal to how both Obi-Wan and Vader would fight. Obi-Wan with more fluid agility and Vader with more aggressive strength. But considering both of their age and how much they have grown in the passed twenty or so years, I think they did pretty well in making it overall enjoyable, creative, and close to the lore as best they can!
Awesome reaction, I agree with everything you both said. And that is a great video you had mentioned to about what the Jedi did to the Sith. Gives so much more backstory and understanding, which lends weight to the battles in the movies.
Episode IV at even a 10 million budget in 1975-76 was cutting it close to the bone in what Lucas could spend, which meant essentially NO stunt doubles for either Prowse or Guinness. Prowse, not a trained.swordsman, was hampered in both vision and movement by the Vader outfit, and Alec Guinness, to be honest, was an old man who (unlike Christopher Lee), had never been a fencing enthusiast, and his stage fighting experience was decades behind him. Also, the "blades" of those lightsabers were particularly fragile-- they just couldn't withstand impact like the later movies.
I still tear up while watching this. They did such a great job with this. If you guys haven't I strongly recommend the Clone Wars show on Disney Plus the first season is a bit slow, but it really picks up.
About the Gandalf power discussion: You mentioned that he should have had that massive magical power scene which would've been cool but Lord of The Rings is a world known as 'Grounded Fantasy' where it still has fictional creatures and elements like dragons, orcs and elves but its still semi realistic and doesn't explore magic as much as High Fantasy genres would. I suppose the only other scene I can think of in LOTR apart from the Balrog bridge section is the end of the Battle of Helm's Deep where Gandalf burst through on top of the hill with the Rohirrim.
That scene came to mind as well. And thanks for pointing out the difference in fantasy genres. Guess it was just the blockbuster kid in me that wanted to see some fireballs and lightning bolts from Gandalf like he was playing magic the gathering or something 😂🤗🙌
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Yeah definitely some World of Warcraft stuff there. I think Gandalf is cool though because he doesn't need magic to fight, the films show he's an excellent sword fighter and....staff fighter i guess
It's also a personality trait. Gandalf's name from long before was Olorin. His work under that name was the reason he was recruited for the mission as Mithrandir. No spoilers just in case you want to follow up on the story yourself. Good luck.
A big reason why they don't do a lot of big magic with the Force or with Gandalf is that they are "Soft" magic systems - not really detailed or explained, so if you use it frequently you start to run into the issue of the plot feeling weak if you can just fix things with magic. a lot of "Hard" magic systems like in avatar the last airbender or the Brandon Sanderson Novels there are clearly defined rules where the audience knows what the magic can do vs what it can't do, which allows the characters to use their wits on how to apply the magic to resolve the plot instead of just having Gandalf walk around fixing everything with magic, since the audience doesn't actually know the limits of Gandalf's power. its the same with the force.
The main problem with the LotR movies are budget, technology and realism. There's absolutely no way of showing what Gandalf can *really* do in a live-action adaptation. The same goes for pretty much all other super-powered beings. The limits are less harsh these days, but really the only medium with which you can show a being's full power is through animation. 'cause with animated stuff, you can pretty much do whatever the hell you want.
@@thedutchwolf97 I agree, my point though was mostly toward the fact that Tolkien isn't about grand shows of magic. Those that can wield it don't need to show off (for the most part). Magic in Middle-Earth is almost a spiritual thing. It's about the power in symbolism. The moment that always sticks out to me is Aragorn healing Farimir and Eowyn. The hands of a the king are the hands of a healer and all that. Kingsfoil is a healing plant , but in his hands it almost seemed to become More. Anyway, that was the main driving point behind my earlier comment... probably could have been more clear though :) Edit: spelling
@@thedutchwolf97 agreed. The thing is, you have a lot more opportunity in an animation than a live action sequence. Could you imagine if this duel was animated like clone wars? It would be too good
Keep in mind the original scene was done with CORDED light sabers. That's a lot to work around for a fight, keeping the cord out of view. You can't really throw the thing across the room, if it's plugged in.
Good point! Did not even think about the cords. Which is why we think if Lucas had done this movie in today’s technology it would be similar to what this shows 😊
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Really, the Darth Maul actor was the great leap forward in choreography. He was just a guy they hired to train everyone, and he ended up with that role. He is the one that took the fighting to the next level in films. I also like the "camera" work in the video. It would be cool to see more of that Mandalorian/Samurai/Spaghetti Western stuff.
I can't speak for Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings but I feel in this reimagining, it makes sense that Obi-wan didn't use abilities or was extremely aggressive. In canon Obi-Wan was a master or lightsabre form 3 which is a very defensive lightsabre form. Also your point on Jedi being more held back and calm is a great one.
Agreed. 😃 What we meant was that this reimagining really shows Obi Wan as a bad ass. Because the fight is extended so we get to see him use the force to throw back Vader and how skilled Obi is with the lightsaber. It was just such a cool scene to watch 😊
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames yeah I think this reimagined version is epic too. If a small team could do that, then imagine what a big budget studio could do if they attempted the same thing in terms of quality of CGI
You're right, in that this reimagining is probably how it would've been done if A New Hope had been made now. I like the aggression and added mobility in the duel. I think, even older as they both are, and Anakin having to manoeuvre in the suit, it fits with how Jedi Masters would still be able to fight. It's Battle of the Heroes Round 2, but they're too old for flips and jumps now! 😂
I love this reimagined fight. Once you know their background in the prequels and series, this is how they would throw down -- Vader's anger as he blames Obi-Wan for everything, his loss, his pain. So every swing of the saber is meant to kill and then he just starts punching him. You can feel Vader's anger in this fight with every swing of the saber.
If you haven't watched Clone Wars or Rebels. You should. It's definitely worth it and show you more about character progression or introducing. And for Clone Wars you're learning about the clones too and you may get attached to some of them. And this series making the prequels so much better in context than the films could themselves. I love it. And you will love Star Wars even more.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Yes please! The first 2 Seasons may be rough tho. But worth it after all. I recommend it to watch it in Chronological Order. There is a list on the official Star Wars Website! You will appreciate the Prequels way more! :D
the remake of the fight scene more closely tied in their fighting style from Revenge of the Sith. With how aggressive their fight was in episode 3 vs the original sc38 fight... in ep2 seeing Yoda use the force to help his aging body be able to still hold his own against younger opponents. this showed how Obi-wan was indeed older but should still have been able to fight somewhat more aggressive than in the original fight. same with Vader. Also the call back voices put into the fight... I feel like had the story been made in chapter order, George probably would have done something similar.
Hey you guys, Great reaction and I'm also a huge fan of the original star wars, and empire strikes back is my favourite. Please can you react to star wars rogue one darth vader, (spoilers) I just hope that you have seen rogue one already.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames He means the end scene with Vader from Star Wars: Rogue One. It's the newest film in which Vader turns up and you really get the sense of how powerful and terrifying he is that isn't quite as apparent in the original trilogy just because the CGI wasn't as great.
I would LOVE to see the original theatrical version of "Star Wars" with this replacing the original scene. This is what happens when you improve. Lucas never settled upon anything but rarely actually improved anything. This scene with the original is actually BETTER. Imo. Love your reaction, btw.
Glad you enjoyed reaction 😃😊 And yeah we don’t usually like remakes but this was pretty damn incredible and had this movie been made today this fight would probably be how it would be choreographed ☺️
Gandalf is a pretty good example, except Gandalf and the other Wizards were actually not allowed to use their full powers in Middle Earth. This coupled with the fact that all of them are stuck in old bodies means that they can never achieve their full potential during their time in Middle Earth.
This may or may not be a bit off topic, but speaking if novels, the best I've read is the Republic Commando story line. I know there are others, and I'm working my way to an thru them, but so far the above mentioned story line is my favorite.
Not off topic at all. Bethany loves to read. Her reading list might be longer than our reaction list to get through 😂 Thank you for the recommendation! 😃🙏
Regarding your comments about Gandalf... I feel like Tolkien (and Peter Jackson) were going for a different feel with "magic" in those stories. Remember that Gandalf was NOT a wizard, that's just what he was called by some of the people of Middle Earth. He was an Istari, an embodied angelic spirit, and his power was more subtle, and more tied to creation itself than to spectacular displays of power like you would see in wizard fights. His fight with Sauron in the more recent movies...light v. shadow... is a good example of their primal natures. I feel like it may be a bit erroneous to expect more magic-seeming things from divine beings.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames they at the least got that and Rouge one decently right. But could bsidering they have lost ove media they aren't doing to good.
This is the fight as it should have been, but obviously limited by the technology of the time. You can FEEL Vader's anger at Obi-Wan, all those years of suffering in his suit because his friend, his mentor, instantly wrote him off as a lost cause instead of even trying to help him. He's so furious that he resorts to literally using his fists to beat Obi-Wan. You can also feel Obi-Wan's sadness and regret in this, he knows he failed him, but he feels it's too late for any change to be made now, and he's fighting defensively. He knows he's not leaving the Death Star alive, he's just buying time for the others to escape, because he knows THEY are the ones who can win in the end. He's not fighting to win; he doesn't want to. The Ep. 3 callbacks were perfectly placed as well; the last things each said to the other up until this moment.
You should react to “Rescue Mission” it’s a very well done fan film done about Darth Revan. It captures his character so well and I feel like you would enjoy it.
aww I love you guys reviewing star wars and other media. keep it up AND do star wars battlefront 2 campaign. it delves deep into the books like the emperors contingency for if the empire falls
There was three inserts from the episode 3 the iconic but understated lines “I hate you” / “you were my brother ani I loved you “ and you were the chosen one all of these lines were from the battle of mustafar
One of the main reasons why they couldn’t have lightsaber duels like this in the original besides the budget which this may actually tie into the budget but the original lightsabers they used for filming were really heavy so being able to spin them around like now a days would’ve been hard if not impossible. But you can kind of see how in the original fight scene how they were heavy since Obi wan and Vader almost always held them around waist level and had them just slightly pointing upwards.
If you guys love star wars than another fan video called "Maul - Hatred" which is all about my favorite Sith Darth Maul, it's a great watch and is very very cool. and if you guys are Star Wars fans (which it seems like you are), i highly suggest this as a watch. Great React as always love vids.
Fan film from Star Wars Theory. Vader Shards of the Past episode one. If you haven’t seen it. Is really well done. Amazing film taking place eight months after Anakin turns to Vader. Goes into his state of mind, thoughts and feelings. Reminds me of the Vader comic books.
It was awesome. My only pet peeve is what nobody ever notices and it's an obvious thing. Never in Star Wars (I don't count the sequels, since they aren't Star Wars) the Sith NEVER lit their lightsabers first. The Jedi were always the agressors (the only excemption is probably the Darth Maul Qui-Gon fight on Tatooine but it's difficult to see in that fight who ignited their lightsaber first). So Vader turning on his weapon before Obi-Wan in this, is a bit of a non-continuity. An amazing segment. Something that should be enshrined in the Star Wars Hall of Fame.
There are such Jedi called Grey Jedi in the star wars universe, and if u want to watch the animated shows u might run into them, because some Jedi do leave the Jedi council
the original: two bickering old men slapping it out with their canes.... The reimagined version: Mustafar: The emotions strike back! i felt evry single blow :) THIS scene is canon, because on my authority i deemed it so. if you disagree, you are wrong and shouldn't have a right to your own opinion.
The lady here mentioned the added aggression of Darth Vader vs. Obi Wan. I believe that this is added because, this is deeply personal for Darth Vader aka Anakin Skywalker, because Obi Wan and he have history, in that 20 years earlier during Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith, Obi Wan critically injured Anakin, during their famous duel. Darth Vader obviously has been looking forward to settling the score with Obi Wan Kenobi!

Thanks, MD! If you rec Clone Wars we know it has to be legit. We will look into checking it out and if it’s something we can share with everyone. Although we are hesitant to watch movies and shows for first time on camera as we get really intense 😂🙃
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames That will probably play really well to your audience, especially because we are also huge nerds and love when people get all into it. But it is a lot of editing work and potential issues with the youtube copyright police, so whatever works best for you guys.
Nice reaction! They captured Vader's rage very nicely in choreography, which would have been the case very much in the fight. No intricate saber work, just brutal power and hate at what Obi-wan represented and reminded him of what was lost. Pretty epic stuff!
Agreed! 💯 😃 Glad you enjoyed the reaction 🥳☺️
When the music starts idk why but I always get so emotional
This is an awesome reaction. I'm a lifelong starwars fan (old enough to remember watching the original at the cinema with my Pops). I only saw this vid for the first time a few weeks ago. Now I want to see folks reactions to it, so I know that I'm not a traitor for loving it. It blew my mind at how good it was. It was so nice to see genuine fans enjoying it as much as I did. I guess I wanted reassurance. I got it. Thank you 🙂
Hey thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed the reaction and that we could confirm your mind being blown us the proper response to this 😜 and now the obi-wan series trailer looks great too 😀
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Much love to you both. Us genuine fans gotta stick together 😃 I haven't seen the Obi - Wan trailer. I've heard rumours, and saw the fan edit trailer, but, nothing was ever confirmed. I'm gonna have to have a look at that. gimme a sec... (elavator music plays)..... Holy sh*t!
Thanks so much! We have that Shards of the Past in our Star Wars list ☺️
luke showed more emotion at a death of a old man he met few hours ago then seeing his aunt and uncle turn into BBQ
Lmao 😂
Compared to the technology of back then, this can be considered a masterpiece within the series. The fight was pretty much an artistic piece, and the visual effects were naturally way, WAY better than back then.
I love Star Wars, man.....
The Force will be with us, always.
☺️🙌🥳
This really was amazing. I love their attention to the original and the voice overs. Gorgeous.
Also I agree with your thoughts on Gandalf. In the book he was way more Wizard with fireballs and exploding power and growing huge etc.
😎🤟🥳
Amazing reaction i loved it. Thank you so much i had a very boring day and this video put a smile in my face .
This comment put a smile on our face🙂. Glad you enjoyed the reaction and we could break up the boring day to day routine we all go through 😊🥰🥳
It was beautifully done, with them trying to blend the old scenes with the new and trying to stay loyal to how both Obi-Wan and Vader would fight. Obi-Wan with more fluid agility and Vader with more aggressive strength. But considering both of their age and how much they have grown in the passed twenty or so years, I think they did pretty well in making it overall enjoyable, creative, and close to the lore as best they can!
Well said and 💯 agree 😊
Definitely a great remaster....DarthMaul Apprentice is an equally epic little flick...love yalls reactions....
Thanks! Glad you are enjoying the reactions 😃 Have that film on our Star Wars list ☺️
Amazing reaction!! Definitely a great video!!
😃🥳🍾
Awesome reaction, I agree with everything you both said. And that is a great video you had mentioned to about what the Jedi did to the Sith. Gives so much more backstory and understanding, which lends weight to the battles in the movies.
Thanks! We thought the title of the video for What Jedi did to Sith was really interesting and worth checking out 😃
Episode IV at even a 10 million budget in 1975-76 was cutting it close to the bone in what Lucas could spend, which meant essentially NO stunt doubles for either Prowse or Guinness.
Yeah it makes sense that they couldn’t make it more intense like it’s shown in this reimagination 🙂
I still tear up while watching this. They did such a great job with this. If you guys haven't I strongly recommend the Clone Wars show on Disney Plus the first season is a bit slow, but it really picks up.
We’ve heard it’s really good 😃🥳
About the Gandalf power discussion: You mentioned that he should have had that massive magical power scene which would've been cool but Lord of The Rings is a world known as 'Grounded Fantasy' where it still has fictional creatures and elements like dragons, orcs and elves but its still semi realistic and doesn't explore magic as much as High Fantasy genres would.
Also didn’t gandalf and other mage had restrictions on using their power?
It's also a personality trait. Gandalf's name from long before was Olorin. His work under that name was the reason he was recruited for the mission as Mithrandir. No spoilers just in case you want to follow up on the story yourself. Good luck.
Don't forget that another limit to the fight scene filmed in 77 is that the Light Sabers were made of GLASS
It wouldn't have survived one strike
Good point 🙂
This makes a ton of sense 🙂
That's just not what LotR is about. If you know how powerful a Balrog is, then you'd be impressed by Gandalf's showing.
Fair enough 🙌 🙂
Anyway, that was the main driving point behind my earlier comment... probably could have been more clear though :)
Edit: spelling
I had tears in my eyes when I heard "You were the Chosen One!" with Vader walking off scene.
😂😎🥳
I love this reimagined fight. Once you know their background in the prequels and series, this is how they would throw down -- Vader's anger as he blames Obi-Wan for everything, his loss, his pain. So every swing of the saber is meant to kill and then he just starts punching him. You can feel Vader's anger in this fight with every swing of the saber.
Agreed 🤩
If you haven't watched Clone Wars or Rebels. You should. It's definitely worth it and show you more about character progression or introducing. And for Clone Wars you're learning about the clones too and you may get attached to some of them. And this series making the prequels so much better in context than the films could themselves. I love it. And you will love Star Wars even more.
Not sure why we never got into clone wars but everyone has been telling us about that on here so definitely something we should check out 😃
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Yes please! The first 2 Seasons may be rough tho. But worth it after all. I recommend it to watch it in Chronological Order. There is a list on the official Star Wars Website! You will appreciate the Prequels way more! :D
she on the edge of her seat every sec, love that.
3:16 this was a great reaction XD This kind of joy brings a smile to your face
😊🥰🥳 Glad you enjoyed the reaction
Hey I hope your day is good I have sent you everything I know for kda at your insta I learned everything yesterday
Thanks! ☺️
the remake of the fight scene more closely tied in their fighting style from Revenge of the Sith.
Agree with all of this 👏 😎🤟
God's honest truth, I would absolutely LOVE to see George Lucas' reaction to this, assuming he hasn't seen it yet.
Lmao, that would actually be pretty cool to see 😃
Hey you guys, Great reaction and I'm also a huge fan of the original star wars, and empire strikes back is my favourite. Please can you react to star wars rogue one darth vader, (spoilers) I just hope that you have seen rogue one already.
Vader’s rage from Rogue one? That the same video? 🤔🙏
Thanks for react to this Amazing reimagine scene ☝️☝️
Our pleasure it was a treat ☺️🥳
I love how a small couple is growing so fast love you guys
Thank you! 🥰😊
“This is way more aggressive than how I remember the first fight.”
Well, yeah.
🤗
There's few enemies that scared me in Star Wars as a child, but being saber-locked with Vader as he says "There is no escape" is mortifying this day.
Highly appreciated for this !
Happy to hear 🥳🥳🤟
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames ♥♥♥☺
Gandalf is a pretty good example, except Gandalf and the other Wizards were actually not allowed to use their full powers in Middle Earth. This coupled with the fact that all of them are stuck in old bodies means that they can never achieve their full potential during their time in Middle Earth.
Ah, did not know that. Love learning these little facts. 😃 Thanks!
Did y’all react to the Shadow of the Republic fan made mini movie?
We have not yet. Added to our Star Wars list 😊
That was so really well done!
Agreed! 🤩
Great points here! 👏👏🙌
See’s channel name in new uploads feed. See’s video they are reacting to, hits like button. Watches video 🍿

Your wife was very cute how she was soo geeking out over this. SC 38 reimagined is what disney needs to be doing to the star wars universe.

I hope you have the vader fan film shards of the past on your bucket list. It's a gem :)

This will be a long day remembered. It was the end of Obi-Wan and soon the end of the Rebels.
Perhaps 😇
great reaction. I recommend the video of darth maul the apprentice. its a very good video that you will both enjoy
Have that one on our Star Wars list for sure 😃
Couldn’t have said it better ourselves. 😊🥰🤟👊
You should react to “Rescue Mission” it’s a very well done fan film done about Darth Revan. It captures his character so well and I feel like you would enjoy it.

🥳🥳😀😊🥰🤗
There was three inserts from the episode 3 the iconic but understated lines “I hate you” / “you were my brother ani I loved you “ and you were the chosen one all of these lines were from the battle of mustafar
Really well done putting those in there. It could’ve been super cheesy but instead it was powerful ☺️
Much better than the original, you could really feel the rage and the hatred there.
Right? 🤩
The best fights always tell story between the fighters.
Agreed 💯
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames You guys should watch the Kakashi vs Obito fight from Naruto. It's really good example of this.

If you guys love star wars than another fan video called "Maul - Hatred" which is all about my favorite Sith Darth Maul, it's a great watch and is very very cool.
and if you guys are Star Wars fans (which it seems like you are), i highly suggest this as a watch.

Thanks! We got that and Darth Mail Apprentice fan film on our Star Wars list to check out 😀
Fan film from Star Wars Theory. Vader Shards of the Past episode one. If you haven’t seen it. Is really well done. Amazing film taking place eight months after Anakin turns to Vader. Goes into his state of mind, thoughts and feelings. Reminds me of the Vader comic books.
On our Star Wars list to check out 😃
It was awesome.
Hmm. Had not noticed that about the Sith and Jedi. Good observation 😃
There are such Jedi called Grey Jedi in the star wars universe, and if u want to watch the animated shows u might run into them, because some Jedi do leave the Jedi council
Thanks for the info 😃
the original: two bickering old men slapping it out with their canes....
The reimagined version: Mustafar: The emotions strike back!
i felt evry single blow :)
THIS scene is canon, because on my authority i deemed it so.
if you disagree, you are wrong and shouldn't have a right to your own opinion.
Lmao. We would never disagree with Tyrion. He drinks and he knows things. 😁
Love this content ❤️ you guys should definitely react to the new Elden Ring trailer 🤘
We will! 😁 Check our schedule this Sunday 😉
This is what Obi Wan would've been truly like if he kept on training during his time on Tatooine
Darth Vader obviously has been looking forward to settling the score with Obi Wan Kenobi!
you guys should watch The Clone Wars tv show (in chronological order, easily found on the internet) for yourselves or for the channel, you ll be honeslty blown away if you like SW ! It might be a long run, especially for reactions, but it worths it ! :)
We’ve been told it’s truly an amazing story. Not sure why we didn’t get to it before. But probably because we don’t watch a lot of animated shows or really any. But we can change that 🙂
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames This show could truly change your perception of the prequels.
