I used this guide to replace my battery, thanks! Make sure you have the perfect Phillips screwdriver for the job. You will easily wreck these delicate little screws. Also - some of them are pointy and others are square. Make note of which goes where. I didn't have any fancy silicone or glue to close the hole above the battery. I don't think it makes any difference. Good luck. And to JBL: You could build it so the battery is a lot easier to replace. There's no planet B you know.
The silicone or glue is there in order to eliminate any vibration, in time you may hear the battery knocking about. The silicone on the wires and hole to the battery is a good precaution to prevent moisture causing corrosion, it will extend the life of your speaker, ain't nothing fancy about silicone, cheap at any hardware store.
Thanks for the warning re: screws. Otherwise I'd assume they're all the same. I hope your Flip 3 is still fine. I just replaced mine's battery after 7 yrs.

Mr. Moreno I just picked it with needle nose pliers and a flathead screwdriver if I remember correctly. Don’t have to be overly careful seeing as the battery is no good and the silicone has to be replaced.
Lithium Polymer (Li-Po) batteries do not like to be stored at full or empty charge for extended time, if not using any electronic device for extended time try to store them at 50% charge (storage voltage) and the Li-Po will last much longer..

Has anyone done this to fix a squeaky playback? My battery on this model will say fully charged but then playback is terrible, becomes squeaky and sounds like nails on a chalk board. Then it automatically turns off. Would it be worth just trying to change the battery, or will I need a new speaker?

3 роки тому
And what are the white and the black sort of tape you use ^^ ?
Is this the solution for when the Flip 3 suddenly starts “screaming” even though it is fully charged? I’ve used it only very occasionally for about five years, and I’m wondering if this loud, ugly noise that I’m hearing after running it for only about an hour now is a battery issue.
I haven't tried this replacement yet, but from all I've read many people do not have the skills or tools, or patience. Don't use the cheap tools that come with some of these replacement batteries, they're junk. Get some quality precision screwdrivers, a phone repair set is ideal. You have to carefully think through each step. Never use force, glue can be broken down with heat, but on this speaker, I wouldn't advise it. Slowly breaking the glue seal with a painter's putty knife is ideal. The smartest thing to do would be to sharpen the end and heat it and slowly work it down the side of the battery till it comes free. He does quite well in this breakdown, but I would advise taking the flat ribbon cable off before removing the battery, if he slipped or if the battery suddenly came loose he could have easily ripped the ribbon cable. Be very gentle with the ribbon cable and especially the plug and connector, lift the plastic locking tab before pulling on it. Ribbon cables are very fragile.
