I love the way these three give each other crap. The way Rocha piles on Shannon or Michael, the way Michael is like “hold on” and doesn’t let Rocha get away with stuff or how Shannon’s puns pain Michael 😂 It’s like if the kids from Stand By Me stayed friends as adults.
I like the Kyle Chandler casting more than most of the other rumoured names. He looks the part and looks younger than he is. I get Hal Jordan fans being annoyed Hal won't be the main Lantern but personally I prefer John so I'm all good. What I don't get are people comparing Hal and Supermans ages as it'll clearly be John who will be in the new JL with Superman. We'll probably get something similar with Barry Allen and Wally West
I am in total agreement with Michael that comedy is seriously underrated. I am utterly guilty of this, my inner movie snob always discounts things like comedy or horror or rom-com, etc, and I think it’s a good thing when they get recognition. I get the contention that, maybe, this isn’t the project that deserves it, but I’m not against it. Also, Rocha mentioned it, but Logan most definitely deserved nominations - I even argue it should have been Stewart, Jackman, and Keen who should have gotten nods - but just bc that was a missed opportunity shouldn't mean this one gets passed on if (and I stress if) this one is deserving even if Logan may have deserved it more.
I saw Sinners trailer when I heard Coogler is directing and thought it was great. I still don't know much about it as the trailer didn't spoil anything about vampire. That's why I loved it. Then i saw many youtubers in our space casually mentioned "vampire movie by Coogler" and I was like damn, I wish that reveal was reserved for me while watching the movie.
Kyle Chandler also was in those Godzilla movies that made money so it’s not like this dude is a bad actor. He’s a great character actor and I know he’s gonna be great as Hal Jordan.
I like Sinners has everyone trying to guess what is gAll we know what is going on in the movie is FEAR! We got Cougler, Jordan, and a great all-star cast. I am THERE!
What Michael said about John Wick ushering a new era in beautiful violence, I would piggyback off that argument and say it’s reintroducing it. When I think of the earliest gun-fu, beauty in violence, I’m reminded of John Woo’s A Better Tomorrow II, Hard Boiled when Chow Yun-Fat is covered in flour, spits out his toothpick and blood splashes his face or The Killer. Maybe you can even trace it back even further than those, but it reminds me of peak Woo gun-fu films of the 80s and 90s.
Elizabeth Olsen is frinkin incredible. One of my favourites. She is one of the best at performing difficult psychological roles as we have seen with Silent House, Martha Marcy May Marlene, Love and Death, Wind River and as Wanda. She also seems to love those types of roles, based on her movie recommendations and the performances she likes to watch. Sort of the innocent, but also troubled characters. If they bring her back, then Marvel will automatically get a big boost in quality.
Olga Kurylenko is listed at IMDB for Thunderbolts* and was asked questions about the movie e.g. for Screenrant: In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, while promoting her upcoming film, Chief of Station, Kurylenko was asked if she could share any details on what the Thunderbolts* title means for the film, since Marvel Studios recently added the asterisk to the name. Kurylenko, who is returning as Antonia Dreykov, a.k.a. Taskmaster, as part of the Thunderbolts cast, stated the following: Olga Kurylenko: Well, they changed a couple of things. [Laughs] That's all I can say, but that also doesn't say anything, because obviously every movie is different, and in every movie, things change. But yeah, it will be different, we'll see. There's nothing I can say. [Laughs] She's in the movie, Rocha.
@@JohnRochaSays She answered a question about the title of the movie. Why would the interviewer ask her that kind of a question if she's not in the movie?
@@Mertaranta Because the interviewer doesn’t know she’s not in the movie. This might surprise you but they usually don’t tell us the big twists before the movies come out.
That Moana trailer was a teaser and that Thunderbolts teaser was a full trailer lol. Correct me if I’m wrong but there hasn’t been much multiverse in the MCUs multiverse saga. Out of ten movies so far there’s only been three movies (NWH, MoM, D&W) that actually were about the multiverse, and those were the highest grossing films in this “saga”. So I just don’t get the moaning and groaning about multiverse. Even with TV projects only Loki S1&2 deals with multiverse and both seasons were well received.
Can wait for Sinners! Makes me curious that with Michael B Jordan playing twins and twins are notorious for being able to feel each other's pain, how does that play when one twin descends into something sinister...
Salamis Forever is great. It meandering too much for Iron Heart and Ross does not take away from its story of grief and vengeance. there are faults in all our favorite best Marvel movies.
I don’t want to poopoo Chander’s selection as Hal Jordan or any actor for that matter, but I will admit to not really knowing him all that well. That said. I hope he pulls it off and fans and casuals, alike, enjoy his performance.
Gladiator and Gladiator 2 are not for me for the same reason Rings of Power isn't for me: I love the source material so much, I spent my life studying Ancient Rome (and Tolkien literature). So, not for me. But you guys enjoy it! 😄
Apparently, Michael is being followed by Damien Lindelof . The composer for the Batman and ironically, his son did the composing for the penguin series. He is being followed by Damien and if he does the Green Lantern, oh my goodness that is gonna be real good.
Here’s a hot take that will get me kicked off of GB... I was decidedly /not/ a fan of Gladiator. And not just like “it wasn’t for me”, I could reign down hellfire upon that movie like Maximus did at the beginning of the film... but, I’m not here for that. G2, with Maximus out of the picture (but obvious connections and tendrils), interests me way more. Didn’t care for the musical choice in the first trailer, but I was still piqued by it. Btw, can we get Denzel screaming, “Maximus ain’t got sh!t on me!” while beating his chest? 😛
Given Disney's statement about making tentpole movies I expected them to throw the name Avengers around liberally. So it seems pretty clear that the asterisk means an Avengers rename for the Thunderbolts. Up until this trailer I thought Dark Avengers didn't make as much sense as "New" or "Secret" but given how the characters are described as assassins, killers etc "Dark" makes more sense.
Having played both The Last of Us games, I was disappointed in season 1. I thought it was a toothless and impotent adaptation. Not sure they can capture the visceral intensity of the second game 😮
Shannon, for the love of everything, please keep going with the awful puns. Vogel’s face is golden every time you fire one off😂

Hands down the best chemistry in a youtube show about geek stuff.

Now I want a Wanda and Agatha road trip movie.
Also maybe it’s not House of M but House of W and Wanda brings the mutants into being?

I don't want Raimi and Waldron anywhere near a Wanda movie...
The Jedi Council has given Jedi Pun Master Shannon McClunky a seat on the Council. It is not outrageous, it is most fair.

What do we think about a Wanda Maximoff vs. Scarlett Witch movie? A movie where she overcomes her demons and finds peace
