Walk to interact makes it so you don't have to be directly on top of something to interact with it (item, switch, block, whatever). I only ever had the PC versions, but apparently on playstation you had to be in exactly the right place to pick up or use something. The option allows you to be half a step or so away and Lara will automatically position herself correctly. Just makes it a little less tedious trying to get the key to go in the hole. I don't know why they even give the option to turn it off, but I'm also not convinced turning it off actually does anything. Probably just there to make the playstation people feel like they're better than they used to be. Shouldn't affect the camera either way
Very Interesting!!! 🤔 In the footage I showed for this section of the video with walk to interact on, It felt like this extra leeway you mention gave a slight pull towards the object when near which in turn caused the camera control to feel more heavy. That’s the best way I can describe it. Appreciate your comment, it’s given me a different perspective:)
There is one instance in TR3 where modern is actually way better than tank. The room in temple ruins that requires you to flip two switches before spikes fall on you is one of the hardest traps in the game due to how precise you need to be, but with modern controls the challenge is basically nonexistent. In my initial playthrough with the remaster I turned in on just for that part and turned it back off immediately after lol
You are absolutely wrong. Modern controls is the new meta when it comes to speedrunning. Look up Footi here, the best Speedrunner for TR, it shaves off so much time because your movement is waaay faster and certain skips (glitchless) are possible now or so much easier. Tank controls are nostalgic but totally inferior now
@@olandoblen5791 it's the new meta for speedrunners but most of us aren't that. You can get good with modern controls it doesn't mean they're better for precision jumping.
I didn’t know that modern controls had become meta for speedrunners, that’s cool to know. :) It’s a while since I made this video, but I think modern controls were easier for the masses to play the games but I can’t deny they are often less precise. Off topic, can’t wait to play TR 4-6 Remastered in February.
This is why I love that the option for both tank and modern controls are available in the game. It can be personal preference but in my opinion modern controls are more accessible, so more players are able to enjoy the classic games however as you mentioned they lack some features such as backflips and side flips.
I'd say modern controls make the games more *immediately* accessible to those who are put off by the idea of learning the tank controls. The consensus amongst those who have played both is that tank controls, while clunkier, are still easier as far as gameplay. The levels were built around them and the idea that each individual movement is consistent and repeatable. Pressing down once always moves you back one tile, a running jump will always start at the end of that tile, etc. To each their own, not saying either one is right or wrong. I just hope people give tank controls a fighting chance
I completely agree with you that modern controls are more immediately accessible to those who are put off by tank controls. I personally gave both modern and tank controls a try before making this video and could see the merits of both. I decided to recommend modern controls in the end, as I think many gamers will pick up Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered and I was trying to approach the video with the view of making the game as accessible as possible to as many gamers as possible. Hope that makes sense.
Did the modern controls work well for you in ST FRANCIS FOLLY SLIDE JUMP SECRET ROOM? And a similar secret in CISTERN? Where you have to precisely jump from one slide to another perfectly while facing a certain direction, then grab a ledge in the end. AFAIK Modern controls don't allow you to jump backwards while not armed.@@RyanJD1
I still think removing flips from modern controls was really unnecessary. While I don’t think they are ever required they are definitely expected for a lot of platforming sections, and methods for these parts without them tend to be harder to do. If they just gave you access to them with modern controls, I think they could be a completely viable option, but without them it makes modern controls feel limited
Hello! I hope you are well.I have seen the videos of your channel. your video is very good But your video optimization is very poor 1. SEO Score is very low 2. Not perfect Title - Description - Tag SEO friendly 3. No Share Social Media Platform and many problems on your UA-cam Channel Immediately need SEO for your UA-cam channel. Search engine optimization of your video is very important, because of which your video views and subcribers are not increasing. If you do the SEO of your video as soon as possible, then your video views and subscribers will increase. Thank you.
Thank you very much for checking out my video. SEO is something I know very little about, so I appreciate you mentioning this to me. I will do some research on how to improve as soon as possible.

I just cannot stand the combat
Yes, even in it’s remastered state the combat is still “of it’s time” ie rather heavy and not very fluid.
