I agree; in my mind, if Bowser were merely the victim of a curse (making him act and even sound like a monster), than freeing him from the curse reveals that the British voice is his *real* voice (and he's *NOT* a monster).
I don't know if you watch "American Dad," but there's an episode where Steve's friend Barry has this accent. Not to mention that Sir Patrick Stewart has voice acting rolls as well.

Nice touch! Trivia! Did you know that That's why some of the Commodore 64's music had that characteristic warble to it? It wasn't just because it sounded cool, it was Also so the music composer could make One sound channel sound like Two. How cool is That? I remember finding some homebrew NES games that used that same sound technique for their own music tracks but I can't remember which ones they were. I didn't even know the NES was capable of doing that! Can you find them?
